Paul Pogba - Juventus player | ban reduced - able to play competitively from March 2025

I like Pogba personally. Thought he was decent at our club compared to most of our players in the past 10 years. More a problem with him and the fans than anything in the end. Soured badly so needed to get rid.

He did put in a few truly world class displays. Not enough of them granted but he’s still a top player on his day. I want to see him back to his best at Juve but he’s well past his peak now.

He’ll do alright “if” he keeps fit but can’t expect too much. It will be nice to see him back on the field regardless.
Problem you paid him 110m and his worth at United was more in the 50m range + 1-2years of injuries not playing

That's the club's fault and not his.
yeah but if you bought him back for 50m you would look at his story with United in a different way.
While his price tag heavly influence the idea or the memory you have of him.
You pay 110m you expect the best midfielder in the world scoring 10-15gol/year + assists like he did at Juventus for 3-4 years

Need some characters as EtH says and he wasn't that.

If you had to carry a luxury player like that though, having a guy like Casemiro next to him is the way to go about it.

One of those what could've been things had we signed a DM instead of Sancho / Maguire.

I actually think that injuries will force Pogba to retire within the next 2 years. He is 29 and already spends significantly more time out with long term injuries than he does contributing on the pitch.

Its obviously not his fault, its simply a question of genetics and applied biomechanics that contribute to the injuries that seemingly appear out of "nowhere".

Id go so far as to argue that Juventus giving him that contract was borderline reckless considering there should always be a risk/reward evaluation in any type of business, especially a big money investment lke this. You takeone look at his injury record and you just have to pause and wonder just how reliable he will be to feature weekly.

Pauls injury record is one of the most substantial among active professional footballers in the big European leagues: https://www.transfermarkt.com/paul-pogba/verletzungen/spieler/122153

Comparable, Owen Hargreaves career was cut very short by the same factors that currently plague Pogba, retiring at the age of 31.

If this is true, I say - no fecking way. He hasn't even played a game for Juve. We don't need an injured player who was terribly inconsistent and toxic even when he was healthy.

If we could get him on a free, given our serious deficiencies in midfield, it's a no brained. He was inconsistent, but I'd imagine alongside casemiro he'd actually be pretty decent

He'll be back next week, I'm curious to see if he's still the same as when he left after so many years and so many injuries..

Oh for God's sake, we just managed to get rid of this virus out of the team. We can't possibly think of getting him back. Hopefully just shitty rumors. The source isn't even that good anyway.

Also he wants to leave Serie A ? Is this for real ? He didn't play a single game with Juventus.

That is not how team building works. At all.

You do not bring back somebody who was toxic and destructive and helped make us into the worst we'd ever been in EPL. It's a no-brainer that Pogba shouldn't be allowed anywhere near United, ever again.

Bringing Pogba back would be the ultimate insult from the Glazers before selling the club.

He is not coming back. He does not want to and i doubt we/ETH has any interest. Just because someone bumped this thread with no reason, does not mean there is any truth to it. Spoiler alert, Ronaldo wont come back either.

why are people talking about bringing him back? any news reports about it? the old trafford crowd cheered jose and ronaldo and even martial gets his song, but disliked pogba even at his peak. he and the club have been the worst fits for each other, on and off the pitch.

Because Juve has another point deduction situation after the investigation has finalized, which caused their executive board/team before the WC to quit. Dodgy financing on transfers and getting caught doing illegal stuff.

So it seems like their top players are available, which some have pointed to Pogba. I'd take Rabiot over him from Juventus and that's about it.

The only time he ever gets back to OT is as a member of the opposition

Well if it's a fire sale who knows where he ends up at
The whole fire-sale thing feels exaggerated, to be honest. It's a big hit for them, but if they start selling their players, not making top spots will be the least of their problems, they can get relegated, and robbed and mismanaged as they may be, it's still Juve? They cannot really allow to get relegated, can they?

I think it is as well, I mean has Pogba actually played for them yet?

The price tag around him was forgotten within a year when Barcelona and PSG were smashing transfer records left right and center. The problem with him was him being ultra casual on the ball, wrong coaches around him and especially his agent(RIP).

He spent more time in the press talking shit about Utd than actually trying to put in effort on the pitch. There was no control here under any manager except LvG(coming from Lingard's interview). Mourinho hated him, Ole was just happy to be here and the rest is history.

Repeat after me: it's a bad idea to buy a player just because he's available cheap. Footballing decisions should guide player purchases.

Im joking. But we dont know what the Glazers might do, they can feck the club over before selling! A manager doesnt have to sign off on anything

Talk about going from 100 to 0 in a period of a couple of years....

This guy is a nobody.

The biggest waste of talent i ever saw.
Born into a golden generation carried by Kante is his only accolade.

Ten Hag has spoken about how we've wasted money on players with a poor mentality. He wouldn't go near Pogba

There's about 2 or 3 players in that Juve squad worth looking at and he ain't one of them. Chiesa, Vlahovic and maybe Locatelli who's actually on a two year loan from Sassuolo, a deal that'll probably get hijacked by one of the Milan clubs once this whole dodgy dealing stuff is dealt with.

Just thinking back to the summer when dick head Twitter accounts like TrollFootball were laughing at Juventus managing to pinch Pogba off United on free again.

Yeah that worked out well for ya didn’t it.

There is an obligation to buy. Juventus has to pay for him in June. It doesn’t matter for
Sassuolo and the deal wether Juve are sanctioned further or not…

Standard Juve deal with a lower club then. Should have known.

Because of his contract running out, Sassuolo wanted to sell in 2021, they’d rather have sold him to Arsenal who offered more cash… But the player made his choice pretty clear, he’d only join Juventus. The deal itself was just like Mbappé’s move from Monaco to Paris and many others. (A definitive sale disguised as loan—>buy for FFP purposes).

Has he played a single minute for Juve this season yet?

Hardly a surprise he didn't want to leave Italy and would only go to Juve. Not many Italians do want to leave over going to Juve or one of the Milan clubs.

I don’t think so. If I remember well, he got injured first in a preseason friendly in the US… And the injury was really badly managed. He wanted to avoid operation in order to be back in time for the WC… Ended up forced to get operated at a later date, missed the entire 5/6 months now.

Are you too young to remember 2006? They got relegated and a 30 point deduction, they only managed to come back up because a decent amount of their players stuck around, which I don't see happening this time when teams in the bottom half of the Premier league can afford to spend 30-40m on a player
