Even when he’s played lately and been bang avergae he’s offered more than Bruno, Mctominay Matic.

Lets he honest, it’s because he’s black, not english and loves a haircut and a dance. English fans are the worst in the world and its not even debatable anymore.

He will leave and win trophies..

Actually, Sofoot published an article in defsense of Maguire saturday.

Defending him being booed by English fans? Good to hear I suppose but a bit odd three weeks after the incident.

But in anycase The Independent just did an article defending Pogba and criticising the booing.

That's why this "whose been victimised the most" is so silly.

You can't quantify it, different circumstances with different players and it's just boring.

Because they're United players still, Pogba essentially isn't.

If Pogba signed the very generous contract offer made to him by the club, the one that has been available to him since before the season began, he wouldn't have got booed by the United fans at the weekend.
Why was Pogba booed 2 seasons ago then?

Good points, I disagree about the booing though. Boing the team after an absymal performance is understandable but I don't like the booing of a single player.

Yeah that's what I tried to say but I am not native English speaker. Booing the team after a shit performance is fine, just don't single out players.

Pogba has been one of our worse players couple of years now. There are some games he performed like a great player but there is to far between those games. I'm talking about months.

The other about colour and nationality is some joke. I hope.

He might leave and win a trophy. But actually who cares? What is important is what he did here and it is not much.

He has been booed by fans of the French national team as well on occasion so its not a trait unique to england fans. Also the Utd fan base isn't all english, we have massive support from all countries in Britain, Ireland and further afield.

Let me introduce you to Patrice Evra; black, not English, loves a haircut, loves to dance, is wildly insane, and does strange things with uncooked chickens. Worshipped and adored by every United fan I have ever met.

You've done a good job there describing, to various degrees, Evra, Anderson, Nani, Saha and Fred. None of whom have ever been booed.

He was booed a couple of seasons ago towards the end of the season

was that the last game of the season when Cardiff beat us, it was some old bloke shouting to get rid of Pogba. It wasn't Utd fans en masse booing him.

Disagree on pretty much all accounts. The only non-English thing that Pogba gets is that media is not going to blindly back him or find excuses for him. English players get backed more and get hyped more.

Pogba gets more stick because of two main things

- He and his agent are constantly mouthing off stuff in media. Be it about the club, the manager, his role, his ambition to move away and what not. If you want to be the one constantly talking in the media, then you get more backlash when things don't go well or your actions get scruitinized lot more. Again, it is not about what he is saying (maybe truth and half-truths), but the fact that he puts it out there for media to scrutinize, is the problem.

- Pogba was signed as a star from Juventus. The one that got away. He was signed for big money and given big wages, because he was a champion. Him being better than Fred and McT is not something that fans expect from him. That is not his level. When you get signed as a star, the expectation is much more. The same expectation is there from Sancho. We will know how that goes in a year or so.

Nani has been booed under Moyes.

Saw a post on Reddit with 300 upvotes saying Pogba had unfollowed Maguire on Instagram since the head kick. I assume this is false. Does anyone know?

He apparently spoke to Maguire and Fletcher after the game about not being backed after being booed. Maybe it didnt go well

So when black players are booed, it’s only because of their skin colour and fans are being racist. Nothing to do with poor attitudes and underperformances. All black players have fantastic attitudes and deliver top performances every week.

Perhaps u have imagined Evra, Saha, Yorke, Anderson being booed. After all they are black and not english. Yorke loves a good party and dance too.

I'm looking forward to Pogba leaving and us moving on from his type of player (so-called superstar, who won't run, with circus entourage), however....

WE SHOULD NOT EVER BE BOOING OUR OWN PLAYERS

Absolutely this. I've never met a single Manchester United fan in fifty years of supporting the club that gave a single feck about the colour of a man's skin. You can add to that their haircut or their lifestyle choices. Any player that leaves everything on the pitch for this club has been lionised in good times or bad.

Manchester United has had a team who are predominantly black or dark skinned for a few years now. We can have a civilized discussion on the strengths and weaknesses of all our players and we do. But not once has skin color ever been a factor or used as a positive or negative in these threads. It's fecking disgusting that some posters still throw that in to the faces of others who have solid reasons why Pogba has failed in his time here. And to a much lesser extent the nationality thing is also fecking juvenile.

I don't know how you're measuring contempt and I'm also aware of the hyper victimisation some guys in here feel for Pogba.

But Maguire and particularly Jones have become joke figures. I don't remember the media defending Jones as he became increasingly mocked. If anything they joined in.

Did the French media defend Maguire after he was booed by England fans?

I don’t even like pogba and can’t wait for him to be sold so calm down on the hyper victimisation talk. My point is the media don’t go in half as hard on the English lads. Some of the media pogba has got recently is a joke.

maguire doesn’t play in France so why would they? Pogba plays for the biggest english football club. Slightly different.

also not talking social media but the more the press.

To anyone not english it's pretty clear there is a bias towards the English players in the English media.
Calling it racism is silly though.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single comment from anyone who’s shared a dressing room with him saying that he’s anything but lovely tbh.
I’m sure there’s been a few players say things about before, rashford and bruno have spoken about him I’m sure of it, think they said what a big player he his for us and the qualities they bring. Remember when bruno first signed after a few weeks when everyone was saying how can they fit in the team together and he was saying pogbas quality’s will get the best out of him and vice Versa.

can someone explain why he was getting booed? And why there hasn’t been the backing for him that there was when Maguire was booed? And can someone explain why others weren’t getting booed?

confused
It would be far easier to take the vocals who deride every Pogba miss pass seriously if they weren’t then claiming Shaw needs another chance under another manager & coddling our £80mm lawyer captain.

You highlight the double standards perfectly here, Maguire has had the single worst performing season I can remember in recent history but gets a level of support Pogba has never garnered.
You can only presume that Pogba doesn’t have many friends in the game, and you have to ask yourself why that is.
Off the top of my head Bruno & Matic have spoke glowingly of him, & here you are ‘man on a forum’ spouting utter nonsense. I’m all for opinion & debate but comments like this are utter tripe.

I don’t recall ever hearing a professional who’s played with pogba ever say bad words about him, I could be wrong? But your right, when Maguire got booed for England, united were so quick to defend him all over social media. Pundits across every news channel were condemning it.. pogba gets booed, terrible headlines, jeered at, slated by pundits.. nothing.

it’s just really time for him to go and leave the PL. it hasn’t worked out. The level of vitriol he gets is crazy. And I don’t particularly love him. I just don’t think it’s fair.

He will leave and go to a team who are already winning trophies.

Yeah I know, he has friends at the club and anyone who’s played with him generally says he’s good to be around, but I’m referring more to the media and ex players/coaches. Can only think of Evra and Petit off the top of my head who’ve been quick to defend him

This is the point in a nutshell but no posters have to get vitriolic & stand on soap boxes about things like performances & effort when a number of other players that seem to fit a certain archetype go without criticism, in fact being protected from critique.

Pogba should leave & it hasn’t worked out, I’m all for holding him to a high standard but it’s hard to takes posters seriously in here when they’ll defend players who’ve under performed under multiple managers but their face fits. I keep saying it but Luke fecking Shaw, has sulked & under performed under 4 managers at some point & he likes a good interview too - where is the fake outrage there? Maguire has looked like he’s playing for the opposition all season, but don’t boo him.

People talk about the circus around Pogba but there’s no worse bunch of clowns than the fans in this case.

I’m not referring to people who have played with him, I’m referring to the original poster who said you never see Pogba being defended in the media, and that goes for ex players and pundits. You rarely see anyone stick their neck out for him, and considering how tight knit that circuit is you have to ask why.

but there’s nothing wrong with that? He doesn’t seem to spend his time brown nosing the media set so where’s the problem, he doesn’t have to.

If anything it’s probably more of a sign that he isn’t leaking crap to the media because if he was they’d be trying to protect their sources image. Maybe we should be pointing the finger more at the players who get the cushy treatment from the press.

Obviously it’s time for him to go, but this is such a bizarre take.

Him being booed for his lack of effort is quite ridiculous when he was always that kind of player, and you could literally blame every player in our squad for lack of effort, probably some even worse than Pogba.

He should be blamed for his performances in general, his stalling over new contract, his comments when he is on international duty, etc.

Generally what I find amazing is that our manager hasn't even discussed his fasting with him, and it's been more than 16-17 days now, that just goes to show the relationships inside the team, are they actually talking between themselves at all, or they all act just like a bunch of strangers?

Is fasting really the issue?

He hasn't looked right since he got COVID.

If, and I mean if, he hasn't recovered properly from the virus then says a lot that he is still playing
