The only area where Pogba consistently demonstrates being and 'elite, world class sports star' is generating attention and column inches off of the pitch - it's so tedious, especially after the 'performances' he's been giving us recently. I don't think I've ever seen a player have so much hype and attention from giving so little. I mean I'd be embarrassed by it but...

The thing is, these latest comments could be completely harmless but you can set your watch for Pogba's international break comments...he's either ludicrously naive/thick and falls for the media game every time or (what's more likely IMO), he just loves the circus and attention. Either way, the way he's played for us during his 4+ years does absolutely nothing for us to tolerate it.

Get rid.

Oh the irony....

4 plus years is a long time for someone to prove his worth. He has been a hit and miss since day one for us. One thing he is best at is showboating. I was watching De bruyne yesterday against England and that's what you call a worldclass performance or a worldclass player. Pogba doesn't know how to keep it simple and it seems most times he keeps his brain in the locker room before coming to play. For his own betterment he should leave next season.
This. And this season.

Think it's fair to say he's going at the end of the year - I'm over it now.

I'm just hoping that if he found his mojo back and finally performs back to his best, we can all look back to this thread and see how terrible our fan base is.

He is a United player, and we should back him for now.

How many still want him at our club? He is still pretty highly rated at FIFA, but that must surely be about it. He has top level talent, but Ravel Morrison had arguably an even higher ceiling. He is playing for one of the biggest club, won everything he could with Juventus, is a star in his home country; he has won the world cup. Maybe he simply has a hard time motivating himself. Either way, he isn't helping the team the way we all hoped he would.

If you think every single 'controversy' around Pogba is because of the media and he's totally innocent then all I can say is I think you are very wrong.
Agreed.

I don't think his fans would like what I'll say. But imo he's simply sending out a message 'I haven't been playing well just because I'm not happy. Don't worry about my talent'. Which is actually a good thing considering his situation at the club. I really hope some would bite. Work out for everyone involved.

But I don't like the part he was taking digs at his teammates here. Even if what he said is true.

He was obviously misquoted this time, but considering his quotes from the past, how do people still defend him? It's not just this time too, it's every time when he says something idiotic. Are some of you even United fans? When my Pool mates take the piss out of us, I always defend the club unless it's Pogba. I totally dislike him and want him out now. His performances and attitude since his return has been appalling. When Fergie and Mourinho dislike you, there's something wrong there. In fact, when he was linked with City, people were frightened at the thought of him playing for Pep. Why? Pep would genuinely hate this guy. No pressing, shocking behaviour.

Even just talking about it being a "breath of fresh air playing for France" implies that it's not so much the case playing at United.

The club is not in a good place at this point in time, currently 14th in the league and we haven't challegened for the league in nearly 10 years and we're currently on out longest run without a trophy in 30 years. Im not sure what you want him to say, he didnt even mention United either.

He must be so tiring to constantly try to keep happy.

It's like having a girlfriend who always thought she could do better, but settled for the safe option. And so you constantly have to deal with little digs and jabs. He's basically shit-testing Manchester United, the club, the fans and his team mates.

Only one solution for that sort of thing: Next!

Instagram is just one view point but I follow a few of their players and during the world cup and other international breaks there are always videos of them playing games, having a laugh, as if maybe they really get on with each other and enjoy being with the French national team and Pogba is just one of those guys. Football fans being sensitive and kicking off over enjoying his time with the national team and at worst a very subtle dig

Not his biggest fan, far from it, but at this point I wish he would just feck off somewhere else.

Will be one of the best post Ferguson days when he leaves. The symbolic exit of the epitome of huge fee, low performance, drama queens that have been at the club since Ferguson left.

I genuinely can't wait.

It's all so predictable. He'll go underwhelm someplace else and every couple of months a pass or decent goal will be circulated as evidence of how we didn't get the best from him. A bang average player who has no place here

You cannot keep coming out with these comments and not deliver on the pitch. Most fans I feel now have accepted that Pogba can and should leave. Do we really want a player who every 3 months will talk about his dream to Madrid?

Its been like this for 3 years, lets get rid and move on.

I think we are beyond this. There is no mojo coming back and even when it comes back, it lasts a few games and goes missing in others.
He is inconsistent as feck. It could be because that's how he rolls or because our team has been inconsistent as feck or because his skills cannot be translated to a physical PL or our team did not have enough talented players around him to unlock his best or whatever.

He is a United player, and we should back him for now.
Nobody wants him to perform badly when he pulls on the United shirt. But most have given up the hope. At least for me, every good performance by Pogba seems like a bonus.

This doesn't make sense. Essentially you're criticising fans who have been having a go at Pogba but simultaneously admitting he's been crap (hence your wish that he finds his mojo). Fans are dicks when they criticise players for personal agendas after a bad run of a game or two but with Pogba it's genuinely been 4.5 years of inconsistencies and frustration mixed with maybe two short periods of excellence. Not what you pay 80m for and certainly not the form that gives you a bit of leeway to talk about your dream move to RM.

It would be more constructive to remind him that he's a United player, rather than people on this forum.

Seriously how can you gain match sharpness if you don't play him?

Form is like that, you have to give players minutes. Doesn't matter what level of player you are, you have to put minutes to perform better.

I think you didn't understand what I meant. I mean that Pogba hasn't been his best since he has joined us. He's a good performance here and there but I don't think he's been consistent at United as he has been with Juve or the national team.

What club would he operate best at, right now?

Bayern are the best club on the planet and I think he upsets that team. Probably the same story at Liverpool.

I still think he’s most suited to Italy. That slower paced game with periods of ‘perfect urgency’. No idea what club though. Conte wouldn’t want him. Nor would Ronaldo.

I think he’s still among the best midfielders in the world. Right up there with De Bruyne. But it’s hard to work out where he would thrive right now.

Lampard would fecking love him obviously.

Italy is the best place for his style of play, no one really pressing, can have the time and space to look and play a pass.

He is the amongst the best talent, not sure if he is among the best midfielders, De Bruyne has been putting numbers that Pogba has never reached season in season out. KDB was putting these numbers at Wolfsburg which shows that he can do it in a weaker team.

Pogba has shown he needs 7/8 WC players around him to do it.

he wouldnt get near the Bayern team, christ he is struggling to get in our team, will be a Madrid or Juventus player next summer no doubt about it, hopefully the deal is done as soon in to the transfer window as possible so we dont need to do the usual circus of getting rid of players. for me a dont actually think he is any where near world class, has the attributes but lacks the IQ of a WC CM player.

Nah. I disagree. He’s one of the best players of his generation.

He does need a supporting cast. He doesn’t shine when he carries a team. But his performances for France show that he’s a smart footballer.

He’s closer to Ballack than Lampard or Gerrard in terms of temperament, understanding and self sacrifice. But by god does it look like he needs a lot of hand holding to get to that place.

Recent Fabrizio Romano quote seems out of context and deliberately shit stirring.
I don't like Pogba at all, but his latest statement is harmless.
I think we should all volley abuse @ Romano for a cheap and dirty tweet.

Pogba: "French national team? It's a window that opens. I talk with Antoine [Griezmann] and Raphael [Varane], we realise that the group is great, and when we're on the field, we have fun. It's not that in the club we don't have fun, but here, it's not the same. We laugh. It's really a family, and the group we have, regulars or substitutes, it's really magical, and that's why we're happy to come to the selection. The coach has enormous confidence in us and we trust him too. That mental strength makes the difference. The substitutes, their seriousness and their professionalism, and their talent - they work hard and they don't complain. They really represent France. Like Adrien [Rabiot] and Kimpembe. It was a period I hadn't experienced in my career. I was used to playing and having rhythm. Now, I'm getting my sensations back, little by little, I am finding myself back. I have to put in performances like that [like against Portugal], be consistent."

If he needs the entire team to cater to his every need than he’s not one of the best players of the generation.

“You can’t except him to track back” “he needs creative freedom” “you can’t expect him to score/assist”

I’ve heard all of those excuses used for him.

If he’s not defensive, and he’s not attacking, and he’s not scoring or creating, what is he doing?

best players of his generation what you basing this on Fifa or Football Manager, he don't perform for France either he had 2 good games at the WC and people seem to think he was like peak R9 at the world cup,

he don't sacrifice nothing that's a major part of the problem. he's all about himself. world class players make others around them better, something he cant and never has done, he was inconsistent at Juventus as well but when you walk the league and you have lots of other quality players you get away with it. simply he will go down as one of the most overrated players of his generation.

“He’s like Ballack.... only without the goal threat, work rate & leadership”

He’s great for France in a reduced role. He’s not for United.

Its that simple.

Jesus Christ, did you put your mum’s undies on this morning?

He’s an exceptional footballer. He’s got the lot. My biggest point of concession was that he needed a supporting cast, some hair strokes, a fluffing of ego, in order to deliver.

I don’t play computer games. I watch football. Kanye plays better for France. As does Griezmann. As does Pogba.

Kanye looked world class for Leicester. Griezmann did at Athletico. Pogba did at Juve, and in fits and starts at United.

That all three look better at International level than club level is a problem for their club managers. Pogba needs to go. My opening post was to ask where he would fit. He doesn’t fit here. I can’t see a club that he works at.

The only club I could think of was Chelsea and they’re an absolute mess.

well clearly he does not have the lot or he would be able to perform, Kante and Griezman hardly perform for the country now either, its nout to do with there club managers they just have passed there peak, it happens, problem is Pogba has never had a peak and to say he is one of the best of his generation is just absoulte nonsense. Fact you tried to compare him to Ballack makes me wonder if you have even watched any kind of football

Complete myth that he’s great for France.

He really is.

Pogba could do what Matic is best at, easily. He’s willing to do what’s needed for France, he won’t do that here.

He wants Bruno’s role.

We don’t have to pretend he’s bang average in order to suggest he leaves.

Modern day fans are mental.

So all the people that have abused Pogba today are you all going to retract your statements?

What was Pogba like at Juve? His stats are about the same for us and them surprisingly.

If you think every single 'controversy' around Pogba is because of the media and he's totally innocent then all I can say is I think you are very wrong.

I think every single 'controversy' has been the media playing you like a fiddle and very little to do with what Pogba actually said, and not what he was reported to have said. See the second post above mine. Anybody else remember that foreign interview a few years back where they literally added a whole new sentence of him looking at other clubs and not printing his quotes about loving United and doing his best for the club. The fact that people still fall for it, it's because they want more reasons to hate him. You should know better by now.
