The early booking didn’t help him, he looked reserved which is understandable. That’s probably a good game to get under his belt for fitness.

Player was also not happy about that performance and that's a good sign hopefully.

Subbing him looked almost mandatory thing to do.

What does everyone reckon his ratio of good to poor/average games has been in his time here? One in five? Maybe one in three, at most?

Considering he’s one of only a handful of players at a peak age, is our most expensive signing and presumably on one of the highest salaries that simply isn’t good enough, right?

I don't think that was Paul's best game but, to be fair to him, he's only just started playing again after months out. I doubt flying out to Western Asia during the international break has helped his form. I'm sure he'll improve with more minutes.

Considering how viciously you shat on Fred after he actually played well at the weekend, I’m going to have to assume this post is sarcastic.

Another lacklustre performance from Mr inconsistent.

Looks like he knows he's leaving.

Vicious?

Anyway.

Fred did not play well against Brighton. That simply reflects his quality as a player.

Pogba did not play well tonight. That simply reflects his lack of football recently.

He was moving the ball pretty well in the 1st half but there wasn't a lot of movement ahead of him and not much space to play it through, he faded in the 2nd half.

1 good game in 4 seems about right, but in those 3 remaining there is at least one pretty bad. Some of his problems are related to fitness rather than actual quality, but it doesn't change the fact he's a bit meh. I've been saying this for over a year, we should cash in on Pogba. It won't be that big of a deal to "replace*" him and we can get decent money.

*I don't think he is a key element to this team that needs replacement. We just need another midfielder if Pogba's gone.

PS worth adding, in most of his "good games" it's actually a moment of brilliance rather than a complete all around good performance, which is what I prefer from a midfielder.

feckin hell. He’s at it again. State of this poster. Ignores December, January,February and jumps straight in when Pogba comes back from injury. To be fair he’s only been decent against Brighton and Granada and not brilliant but hey let’s stay silent for the Milan game and for three months previous when he carried us. Pathetic

Rhetorical all the way, there mate!? Yes, it’s not good enough, and overall he makes the team play worse as he demands the ball and takes forever on it. Brilliant at his best, but ultimately he is far too inconsistent.

Very decent performance, good workrate and press resistance. Getting fitness back as everyone knows he gets better the fitter he is.

Yeah, he’s the poster to worry about. Pogba was poor today and is generally wildly inconsistent.

Yeah, we don’t even need to replace him with a world class talent. A well rounded CM who’s a moderate upgrade on Fred or McT and capable of giving us a 7/10 performance in most matches he plays would improve us massively as a team. That’s a depressingly low bar our most expensive signing ever has set but there you go.

Talk me through game by game from December to his injury....then talk me through any other player you care to mention over a similar timeframe

Our midfield simply doesn’t work without Fred these days. Pogba-Bruno is a strange one. They can both produce the magic but like our forwards too often it doesn’t look like there’s a good chemistry or synergy there. They both need more support in the middle than McT can offer but Pogba should be driving us on and setting the tempo in games like that. Very poor game from him against an ordinary team. Is it possible our owners somehow think he’s not worth what he’ll want for his next deal and that’s why they haven’t spoken to him yet? Maybe Pogba has said he’s going to reject any deal we offer? Who knows! The Pogba saga continues...

Talk me through his career at United and tell me he’s not inconsistent? He can be absolutely brilliant, and you think he’s found his form only to be terrible for the next three, then probably injured. His streaks of good form are not worth it.

So you refuse to acknowledge his last three months of performance and jump on games where he’s just back from injury and is fine,if not great. That’s fine. I’ve no interest in continuing the conversation as you are clearly in a boat with the other poster.

His time here is of the best of any player in that period. Bruno’s stats outweigh Pogba’s. His performances are worse.

Exactly.

Just need to add in something about the interminable fecking quest to find a tweak to his position which will unleash the inner superstar (spoiler: there isn’t one) and you’ve summed up his career at United perfectly.

If Pogba had Bruno’s desire and application he’d probably be the best player in the league but he’s up and down. I think that’s what makes Bruno a better player and I would always pick him over Pogba if we had to pick one to keep. Bruno is captain material. Pogba is a wildcard.

Really going for it now  yes you jump on a player just coming back from injury....(Spoiler: you were silent for three months) sums you up perfectly.

I think he’s had some good games, a couple of great ones but not all good in those three months. In his time at United he has been far from our best or most important player. DDG is overall the best, even considering his average form these last couple of seasons. Bruno has a much higher impact, offers more and is more consistent over a season.

Pogba at his worst is a downright liability. Was it last match when he tried a five yard pass to Fred, screwed it up both in terms of angle and power needed and the other team scored? Many players give the ball away, but he doesn’t exactly do much to win it back.

at his best, he’s brilliant and can be the missing piece. However he’s just too inconsistent, and is he just a little injury prone?

Also, great that you won’t discuss with people that disagree with you. May I suggest talking in front of a mirro.

We just need four new defenders, two new midfielders and a couple of attackers to let Pogba shine! It’s always someone elses fault. Either it’s the manager playing him out of position, his midfield partners not letting him shine or something something. He’s a highlights player!

Exactly why I’ve no interest

The state of this thread is the reason Pogba is thought of as he is. Theee months of being our best player. Forgotten in two minutes when he’s just coming back from injury and has need decent....not great. There’s so many who just can’t wait for him not to have a great game. He’s scrutinised beyond any player, bar Ronaldo in his first three seasons, I’ve ever known.

He's had plenty of training and a good few games.

Shouldn't he be fresh against a bunch of players who've been at it all season?

The more I see Pogba play this season the more I think we need to try and keep him. He makes mistakes and sometimes takes too long on the ball, but his vision and passing technique are invaluable to this team. There aren't many players in Europe who have his range of passing from midfield positions (Kroos, Kimmich, Busquets, Pjanic, Thiago, Tielemans).
Pogba's weaknesses are exposed occasionally because we don't have a high functioning defensive midfielder. Pogba has freedom and space for France because Kante covers his mistakes. Fred/Matic aren't capable of that.

DM and ST should be our priorities this summer.

Yeah let’s single out a player who’s just back from injury. Mental isn’t it.

Yes it is I am but his biggest fan but he wasn't any worse than the rest of the team out there. Absolutely no need to pick him out.

Wanted him back but clearly our problems are bigger than whoever is on the pitch....
