Think he’s been Frances best midfielder and comfortably so.

Kante is great at winning the ball, but some of the passes Pogba can do he can only dream of. Plus Pogba has put a shift in a shift defensively too.

Exactly my thoughts.

Kante is great at what he does, but he is a limited player in my mind. Pogba with his touches, turns, flicks, quick feet, forward passes etc is on a different level. Plus Pogba has also been chipping in with defensive duties and being disciplined.

He spent 4 seasons at Juventus and the only #10 was Roberto Pereyra, he wasn't that creative and only played 2 seasons as supersub...

But if you think that Pirlo is a #10 :wenger:

Or Vidal ? Marchisio ? Tevez ? Anelka ? Bendtner ? Llorente ? Vucinic ? Matri ? Mandzukic ? Cuadrado ? Morata ? Dybala ? Zaza ?
Im not responsible for the dumb thoughts that run through your head. Pogba played as an 8 at Juve usually on the left flank of a diamond with an attacking player in the hole ahead of him and Pirlo in the defensive hole behind him or as the left box to box midfielder in their 3-5-2. That attacking player in the hole is what I was in general calling a 'creative 10'. I don't give a fig if it was Vidal, a second striker like Tevez/Dybala, a true 10 like Pereyra or runner like Sturaro in the damned role.

It's been far from a smooth road with France for him though. Same inconsistency on show. Wasn't he booed in a pre World cup friendly? Maybe he's just maturing.
Let's just that Pogba from France and Man United are very similar in performances pre Word Cup like you said. He's clearly elevated and matured his game since the start of the tournament. Kante is still our best and most consistent midfielder though

Been a very matured performance throughout the tournament from him.
Reading the game pretty well and adapting to the situation accordingly.

Obviously basing everything in stats is pointless but it’s clear to see they complement each other very well.

It’s also backs up that while PP has been more disciplined, he’s still very influential going forward.

I'm not a fan of Pogba at all as you know but to give him credit he has performed well in the world cup - clearly having Kante next to him has helped enormously and he seems very focused and willing to be disciplined for France which is also making a big difference.

Has a player ever split opinions quite as much as Pogba? The amount of arguments me and my friends have over him is ridiculous..!!

I bet the naysayers rated him highly at Juve, and their opinion changed when he joined United.
Oh yeh that’s for certain! Don’t get me wrong he can be an incredibly frustrating player but in comparison to the other players he’s still on another level most weeks.

I'm guessing that's Henderson sat down there on the x-axis.

Maybe we can think about playing Pogba at RCM like he plays for France, I think this position allows him to be direct, rather than cutting back on his right foot (even if he is almost ambi). He just looked more comfortable on the RCM.

But you are responsible for your lies, Pogba rarely played with a creative #10 ahead of him and played 4 seasons not 3 in Italy.

And Pogba's best season ( 2015-2016 ) wasn't as #8 but mainly in a free role behind 2 strikers in a false 352 and sometimes in the CL as LM in a 442.

I ask you again..in what world Pogba played at his best as an 8 playing behind a creative 10 ?

Maybe in your foolish dream ? Or do you really think that the best Pogba was with Mata ?

He's effective in RCM because he's able to unleash Mbappe with his passing who is also on the right. It is simply not possible to do the same at United.

What do we think of this? Juve fans being optimistic or is there anything to it? There's a few reporting the same thing

I think we need to be more selective of what we post on here.
There's no difference between this and Glastons Martial to Spurs ITK bullshit

Think he stays but actually have no doubt Raiola has offered him around a fair bit. It won't matter how much his agent tries to engineer a move as he's under contract. After buying Ronaldo juve is the last club that would pay his fee and wages

As if we wouldn't have caught wind of a deal that was 'done' in May, 0 chance. You think this would have slipped past Di Marzio/Castles until now if it was done in May?

But but wasn’t he so impressed with Spur’s training ground he wants to play footy for free?

Agreed, it's nonsense just for a few retweets.

You could quite easily describe the positions of Vidal, Tevez and Dybala as that of a no.10. Pogba always played as a left-sided no.8 in either a 3-5-2 or a 4-4-2 diamond.

Tevez played as SS, Dybala too when Pogba played with him.

Vidal played sometimes in the #10 position in the diamond midfield to press the backline.

It's true that in his 3 first seasons he played as LCM.

But he never played with a creative #10 and his best season wasn't as #8 but very high on the pitch behind 2 strikers ( mainly Dybala and Mandzukic/Morata ) or as LM in a 442 like against Bayern in the first leg...and with the injury of Dybala, he started the second leg in the SS position ;)

But he mainly played in a unique role, a mix of AM/LM in a very unique 352.

In this role his scored 10 goals and made 15 assists in less than 50 games at 22-23 years old. They gave him the #10 for a reason.

And the world praised the young duo ( Dybala/Pogba ) for a reason too

But yeah Pogba was at his best as #8 behind creative #10 that doesn't even exist

Yeah true.

I hope he is maturing. He looks better for France than he does for us. Maybe because he isn't the Star man/main focus in the French team whereas he is for us?

Griezmann/Mpabbe rightly get all the focus. And Kante/Matuidi help him no end, he almost gets a free role in there due to them 2, they're energy and work rate is unreal. He's somewhat more disposable for France too, so he has to maintain a level of performance. Lemar can come in, likewise a few others. He's good, not essential for France. With us - he has to play. Why I've always called for us to strengthen the quality in midfield as Fellaini just aint good enough competition for him.

Quite surreal watching the Pogba for France v the Pogba for us.

Seems more disciplined, committed, keeps the play simple and does his job requested of him for the benefit of the TEAM.

Shows he has got what it takes, just for whatever reason he doesn't perform consistently like he does for France, for us. Maybe its a Jose issue? Maybe its a attitude issue from Pogba? Whatever it is, we need to see his france form for us, or he will continue to underwhelm and not reach the level he can for us.

I hope next season he becomes more consistent and delivers, I'm tired of his "hype" and waiting for him to develop as a player here. Needs a big season
Absolutely agree with you. It's weird seeing this Pogba. The flash, self indulgent boy was gone and he is playing like a man who wants the team to prevail, irrespective if he looks pretty in the process. Maybe its United fault. We put so much into marketing, advertising and raising his commercial star that perhaps he feels he needs to live up to it and do all these extra bits "for the gram". At France, it was "is he going to even be selected?" and he seems to have just knuckled down, focused on getting the win and doing whats best for his Nation. When I 1st saw him as a youngster at Juve, I saw him like this. Just doing a job that's requested of him, even a defensive shift. Before someone says "Jose doesn't give him a defined role" I am certain Jose does not tell him to dilly dally on the ball, get into pointless physical tussles and skills in his own half.
I believe like most things, it comes down to attitude and intent. The attitude for United was at times wrong, but at this world cup it has been spot on.

Definitely. I've noticed this as well. Pogba has played on the right and I think this is better because it makes him more unpredictable. He can stretch the pitch but also cut inside when needed. On the left he is much easier to close down. This would also get him out of Sanchez's way and give us threats on both sides instead of just one.

Matic
Pogba Fred
Lukaku Sanchez Martial

I hope to see this at least once this season. Pogba and Lukaku on one side. Lukaku on the right was so good vs Brazil and he can interchange with the other two upfront. Fred and Martial stretching the play on the other side. And that leaves Sanchez as a false 9 to press from the front and back to his old position from Arsenal where he scored 30 goals.

As I said earlier. I'm not responsible for the idiocy running amok in your head. For example I never indicated Pogba was in Italy only three years. A working brain would instantly understand I was referring to the 3 seasons there that rose him to prominence. For that reason I wont even bother with your number 10 malarky again....

Its rather apparent you NEVER watched Juve play. Pogba in a 'free role? Pogba as an 'LM' in a 4-4-2 rather than the left flank of a diamond. Im done with your nonsense. Pure waste of precious mbs..... Argue with yourself:lol:

Yes, Juve will undoubtedly buy two 100+ million players in the same transfer window. Might as well post Indykaila tweets.

Here it's not about the player but the agent. Raiola took Zlatan for a European tour. Won't be surprised if this happens.

Honestly I have a feeling he won't be here for long. This will probably be his last season here, just a gut feeling, I mean watching the entire last season it doesn't really take a rocket scientist to figure out he doesn't seem to be happy here. I think a big reason for that is Mourinho. When he subbed him off away at spurs you could honestly see there was tention there. And the final straw was most likely when he got benched for Mctominay vs Sevilla away, and then benched for a tree with affro in the return leg, I mean I would want to feck off somewhere else too if I were him at that point.

I bet the naysayers rated him highly at Juve, and their opinion changed when he joined United.
People I knew were creaming over him and saying he's gonna sign for Barca or City and they would dominate for years and he'd rack up the Balon D'Ors and then he was a terrible player from the first Manchester derby and hasn't had a good game since.

I like that he's getting the praise he deserves. Due to his superstar status he will always be the first player to be criticised or praised and more criticised because everybody expect world class performance every game. I would love him to learn from this world cup and work hard for the team - put in some defensive work in every game for United too. He can still score and assist a lot but if he starts winning tackles and put in defensive work, no one can say anything about him
