Well the average performance rating on the CAF is 6.1, so I disagree he has been "far" better than a 6 :)

I wouldn't read much into that.

Besides, on whoscored.com he's at 7.5 and about the same on Squawka. My average rating is also 7.5.

He has bad games and he has suffered from an injury layoff and inconsistent teams around him, but overall he has been good this season.

My views too! People say "oh if it was under a more attacking manager Pogba would show his world-class potential". Not sure if I do believe that, could be true, but there have been so many occasions where he complicates the basic things. That's not Mourinho! He will be 26 by the end of next season, which is approaching his peak years. His goalscoring can definitely improve, assists wise I think he has been decent. I just want to mainly see him command and boss the midfield on a more consistent basis. On the days he has turned up he has been a beast!

That proves nothing. De Gea's average rating is 6.8 yet I'd happily say that his season has been far better than a 6/7 out of 10.

I have him at 6.4. I don't think he deserves anything higher than that, it's the perfect rating for him imo. Started great, got injured, returned well then got suspended, then returned a shadow of himself for 2 months, before ending the season in a very decent form. He missed a lot of the season and had a period of 2 months when he was disastrous but had a strong start and finish for the season, so 6.5 looks legit for me.

I'd have him the same, similar to Lukaku....good in parts, bad in parts, seemingly refused to play in a game, fell out with manager....hopefully both players knuckle down next year and make significant improvements

Yep. Agree.

I'd probably put him in between mine and yours, around a 7. I tend to avoid voting after our worst performances :wenger:

He is definitely better than a 6 though. He has been one of our best, if not the best outfield player this season, despite the ups and downs.

I remember it was similar with Carrick when he joined. People disliked him because he wasn't the like for like Keane replacement they hoped and it took years for him to be accepted for the player he actually was.

Can't believe people want him to leave. With more creative support around him next season, and better off the ball movement, he will shine, as we have seen this season. Only thing he needs to work on is his consistency.

My problem with him is that he wants extra time before shifting the ball. With new players such as Fred upping the tempo of play next season I’d like to see Pogba improve on that side of his game

I’m in the camp of the movement around him as a team not being good enough. He is a part of that poor movement as well but there are plenty of times he gets the ball looks up and there isn’t really anything on other than a high ball to Lukaku.

By the way I’m not saying he’s perfect it’s everyone else there, are certainly times when he sort of holds the ball looking for that pass when he might be better just to pass it back or sideways and move but seriously the movement and options created in our team are awful. Especially the lack of support from fullback positions.

How’d he get on against Italy?

Quietly efficient would be the best way to put it. I didn't see the first ten minutes of the game, but he played fairly deep on the left side of midfield (until late in the match when Matuidi came on when he switched to the right) and helped move the ball around, making two or three incisive passes forward. He was substituted very late on (Nzonzi). Nothing memorable but no mistakes. Oh, one godawful attempt on goal from well over thirty metres out (I think it went out for a throw).

So why was he jeered by the fans?

I imagine it's because of the way he portrays himself with comparison to his on pitch performances.

You just need to look at the guy next to him, Kante, to see whom fans usually appreciate. Hard working, under the radar, consistent. Rather than flashy, appearing lazy, and inconsistent, which Pogba seems to be this season.

Personally think he's a good player with obvious potential, but if you look at our (City's) "equivalent" in De Bruyne to see why one is getting praise and the other hate - KdB worked his ass off this season, easily our hardest working player over the season, which when combined with the ability makes for a great season. Pogba is looking more like a Yaya of the last few years, great at times, but lazy and frustrating most of the other times.

Wasnt great imo. Slow and ponderous in a lot of what he did, but at the same time wasnt awful. Just very meh. A 5 or 6/10. It's a friendly so hes excused but he really needs to show his quality during the world cup imo, and games like that one or the many he had for us after January dont help his case.

Hes probably one of the main players in the world where the hype around him and expectations isnt even closely matched by what hes done on the pitch. Starting to think this is just how he'll always be, but we'll see.

Pretty much. Like he tracks back, and sometimes sprints around, but looks so awkward when he does and doesnt show the same type of intensity that Kante does or that De Bruyne has for you lot. Not as decisive or as purposeful with the ball, but rather takes a lazy touch when theres nobody close to him, stands around, looks around a bit instead of taking advantage of open space and playing it quickly right away. Has to have that intensity all the time.

It's funny actually. A lot of the Martial issues are the same with Pogba.

Hard to disagree with this.
Pogba is his own worst enemy.

His long shots were amazing for Juve and he's hit some absolute bangers for us too. But yeah criticise him and all. You'd swear he was short on confidence given all the media and fan abuse or something.

No? Ok never mind, feck him what an arrogant cnut trying that shit lolz.

People, and he himself, still think his long range shooting is good for some reason. What's surprising is that managers allow him to believe that hype too.
He was taking plenty of long range shots in his first year with us but it has considerably gone down this season.

what I don't get is while his long range passing with both feet is fantastic, his shooting is diabolical.

His shooting was good in 16/17, but he kept on hitting the bar. Probably just a confidence thing.

His long range shooting was never good for us. He was closer to goal in his first year, but he was never close to efficient and good shooter for us.

You'll never score from a long shot if you're shooting from a stupid position or shooting while the whole defense is in front of you.

Anyway, I really can't see him playing the Lampard role and scoring loads of goals each season. He needs to forget his hype and play as a part of the team not the star of it.

He hit that shot like a keeper taking a goal kick, awful technique.

He clearly does not like Jose

Yes, concentrate and work harder Paul. Whatever happens with Mourinho, Pogba should become a United legend.

Good words. He knows he needs to improve and be more consistent. It's not an issue if he likes Jose or not. Won't surprise me if he's a difficult person to like.

Pogba: “Basically, it is not my role to score. N'Golo Kante, do you judge him on his goals and assists? No.”

Oh really? What do we judge you on then Paulo? Tackles? Intercepts? Haircuts?

Because your defensive ability is average and your ability to control the tempo of the game is, at the moment, non-existent
