He was absolutely poor in the first half ( alongside most of the team)
Good Bit better in the second half but the bar is very low for anyone thinking that was an excellent performance.

Darren Fletcher circa 2009 > Pogba, and I’m not even joking.

He’s literally Veron 2.0; sell while the mirage still exists and sign Kroos, Lewis Cook, Ramsey and Mahrez and allow Jose to move forward with proper footballers in his 4-2-3-1.

Pretty shocking stuff at times. I couldn't be arsed with the fancy stuff at the moment. I want to see a bit of character from him now. A bit more courage, leadership. Sanchez, for all his unquestionable shitness tonight, kept on showing. I want to see Pogba take control of a game and soon.

I think some are seriously overrating that 2nd half performance.

He was better but he would have struggled to be any worse than he was first half.

I expected so much more from him than we're getting.

Don't think I'd trust him against Liverpool, although we're short of options there with Herrera and Felliani unavailable and McTominay seemingly (IMO) not yet the required standard.

Today was a proof that he has a long way to go until he becomes the player we all want him to be.

Undisciplined, irresponsible, frustrating. So many bad decisions. He really needs to step his game up.

Absolutely embarrassing for their first goal and for the whole first half.
Did slightly better in the second but they had dropped deep to protect their lead so it was always going to be easy for him.
Pogba messes with my head, sometimes he looks great but so, so often he looks poor. I honestly think if he's really kicking up a fuss and wanting to leave then we should let him and get a proper functioning midfield sorted out.

Great talent, not a great player. Don't think he'll ever become one.

Think that pundit was right. He is the cherry on top of the cake, not the cream.

I realized that during half-time when they had a mini-doc on Eric Cantona. He did not have the same god-given talent, but Good Lord he showed up when you needed him.

He is out of form. Maybe also depressed about something? I dunno, but he looks frustrated and demotivated a lot of the time.

I hope he finds some joy soon and start playing like we all know he can.

Doesn't look like he wants to be here tbh. Think this summer some serious shit needs to go down to sort his head out one way or another.

Came here to say that he really delivered in the second half, but seems like I was watching a different match. Thought Alexis was shambolic but Pogba after a terrible first half (the whole team was terrible), really stepped it up in the second. Drove at their midfield, some great link up play on the left wing and some penetrating passes. Of course for his talent, that should be the norm.

Oddly this has happened often when I thought he was ok, decent to average or even good while the Caf thought he was "shambolic", "depressed" or "waste of money". I guess that stems from having to watch herrera or felalini play his role. I am not sure whether I am right or wrong but the fan's voice usually trickles down to pundits opinions and the criticism sometimes can be too much. I just hope we don't drive him out of the club.

That first half got me questioning hi s mentality.
I'm not sure he has one of an elite player.

I was watching a YouTube of Roman Riquelme being MOTM in a game between Villarreal and Ronaldinho’s Barsa. I wish we had a player of Riquelme’s caliber in our midfield. Pogba was supposed to be it, but he needs to get out of second gear and step up a few levels.

Second half he was good, which also made ManUtd play good. Coincidence?

When he plays well, he takes up the team to next level, when he is poor, it's like whole team don't know what to do with the ball.

Good second half but poor first half. More than anything, his attitude was disappointing. His work rate was very poor in the first half.

Something isn't right with him, so I was glad to see he put in bit of a fight in the second half.

I question his fitness. He doesn't seem to be able to run properly. His poor performance doesn't make sense, you can see it in his movement.

So many ridiculous fecking posts in here. He's a superb player. He was brilliant up until his injury. He'll be great again. He's having a difficult patch. Grow the feck up.

Thank you. Thank you someone finally talk some sense.

Ramsey? Lewis Cook? Seriously. I can honestly take a break from redcafe now.

Something people haven't really mentioned here is that in the first half with McTominay they were interchanging and when Matic carried the ball one of either Pogba or McTominay would drop in and they wouldn't hard reset the positions until after a few phases of play. Something that in my opinion definitely didn't happen against Chelsea or didn't happen all that often that I can remember.

I honestly don't think Pogba can play this type of role where he is interchanging and playing everywhere because at some point he needs to use his defensive awareness and press to tackle the ball or force a player to play away from the zone and he just can't do it. He's doesn't have good enough awareness or defensive instincts and what was happening against Palace is he would lose his head when he was put under pressure deeper in the phase and in an uncomfortable position not being able to recover the ball.

In the second half the static second position really suited him more as it allowed him to push from the central zone into the arse end of our attacks rather than get through into the middle of them and intertlink the play.
Which is rather strange as it is something he struggled to do early in the season.

He's such a poncey diva though  but I love him and want to see the best for him. Just wish he'd stop the sooking after adversity and man up, get your head down and work your sack off like the rest of your team mates. Nobody cares if you're on a twitter vine looking like a knob. Write the wrong by sticking it into the back of the net with some sublime football.

Wait, his number of assists changed to 14 ? Don't tell me Matic goal counted as an assist for him ?

Is it just me or is anyone else noticing a drop in performance since Alexis got those bumper wages. Sulking for a better contract.

I said this earlier and so far nothing has happened to change my mind. I feel the fault is with the manager who is one of the greatest "man-managers" ever and is unable to manage Pogba's ego. Fitness could be another issue but it looks like more of a will issue than skill.

It's not working with him and Sanchez spending most of the game in the same position. Sanchez is too intricate with his play and you can see Pogba is having to check his runs and passes all the time. He's not able to play his natural game.

Riquelme what a player he was.

When on his game playing with serious intent he's one of the best in the World. He's just not shown that intensity or seriousness in his game lately. Gary Neville, I thought explained it brilliantly during his halftime analysis.

“His great strength is that he plays with freedom and like he’s playing on the park with his mates but his great weakness is that he’s playing on the park with his mates.

As bad as I've seen a Man Utd midfielder in that first half.
WTF was that?

Couldn’t agree more. It’s like he thinks that he is too good to try. Absolutely shocking and properly disgraceful that first half performance.

Not putting the effort in is unforgivable.

I was very critical of Pogba after the Spuds and (especially) Newcastle games for seemingly downing tools, but the Crystal Palace performance was only slightly better and yet he looked like he gave a damn but couldn't get into gear. So maybe I was wrong about his motivation against Spuds and Newcastle. Maybe he really is just stuck in bad form and can't get out of it. Maybe he's injured or going through a tough off-the-field situation.

Yeh, I don't think it was about not giving a damn, he was just bad.
I think he sometimes takes the basics for granted.
It was like he and Sanchez were in a competition for who could give the ball away cheaply.

He also does this thing, where he is shielding the ball and being fouled.
Even though he has passing options and can keep the game flowing, he'd rather hold on to the ball until the foul is called.
Love him to death but he drives me up the wall sometimes.

Not worth mentioning, it's a nice touch though, when they will play again together in 3 man midfield. More organize and we can see they practice this in training how to work together and be more systematic. I can see him improving this kind of play. His inter-positioning change with McTominay is good, oncethey switch, we controlled the midfield better, for a short time though and Pogba attacks better. Promising.

For the second bolded part, :D 4-2-3-1, naah, early season he have done it actually, and in fact it's one of the reasons why Mourinho persist with the formation and him as CDM at 2 man midfield. His play and performance is more organized compare to the freer LCM in midfield of 3. Still in some games, he's more effective playing in 4-3-3, so it's a nice option to have.

That social media labeling of him is unneeded though.

I get it Paul... you're a very strong bloke, and you can hold off players very well. Now that we all understand that, can we get on with playing some actual football?

Result aside, both him and Sanchez were rubbish.

Only United could turn two world class players into shite.

The reactionary nonsense on here is incredible. It's like most of you never watch the game.
It seems quite clear to me that Pogba is lacking players who can think and play on his wavelength, same with Sanchez. Both struggled yesterday as did most of the team in the first half, however you can see them both getting frustrated by a lack of movement from their teammates, meaning they have to delay passes and end up getting dispossessed. A number of times Pogba was calling for the ball in midfield but our defenders and McTomminay we're too scared to play a pass with even the slightest hint of it getting intercepted meaning the ball kept getting moved sideways and backwards. All Pogba's sideways movements to provide a passing channel get ignored and it's understandable that he would get frustrated.
