Seems to be everywhere now so you’d assume he’s out of the lineup. Hard to know what’s going on behind the scenes but if there is even the slightest chance of getting the same sort of showing as against Newcastle, it’s the right choice. And it’s not that hard to imagine a player of his stature being left out and coming back stronger (see Rooney v Inter, for example) but unless he’s unfit or unwell, which would be hard to explain given that he’s trained all week, then it is patently a really big talking point.

You simply don’t drop one of your most gifted players for a big champions league away leg incase: 1. He’s injured or 2. He’s recovering from an injury and isnt match fit.

Pogba has played just as shit as:
Valencia
Jones
Smalling ( bar Huddersfield )
Matic
Martial
Rashford

Everywhere on Twitter.

You don't send a message to someone like him, away in the knockout phase in the champions league. Getting dropped in those games will just piss pogba off and make him think about leaving but also probably makes Mourinho think about getting rid and getting someone that clearly suits how he wants to play.

Im not sure our Board will let Pogba leave. He seems way to valuable commercially and it will probably just easier to get rid of Jose considering if they were to fall out --a large portion of our fan base would blame it on Jose, rightly or wrongly.

Well he's not ill is he or else he wouldn't have travelled.

Now I'm beginning to think he wasn't ill against Huddesfield. Initially I believed Jose but now it looks like he has dropped him. If what Hirst is saying is true.

But why say he will definetely play against Huddesfield?? Makes no sense.

Mourinho obviously intended playing him against Huddersfield.

The worry here is that he also intended to play him tonight but Pogba's decided he can't or won't play again.

Well if he was ill on the weekend maybe he isn't at full strength??

But compared to all of those players, Pogba is the only one who seems to be openly defiant in following Mourinho's instructions. This might be a "Mourinho trying to break him down and reign in his ego" thing but it's unfortunately not something that every player reacts well to. I'm nervous about how this will end up.

I would agree with this.

Mourinho said they had prepared for Huddersfield all week, then Pogba phoned in sick and the plan went out the window.

After all his chat earlier on about the open training session Mourinho would be making a bit of an eejit out of himself to not play Pogba. This would be utterly bizarre, if true. Wonder if he's called in sick again?

He looked/seemed fine, excited even on his social media, so I doubt it.

Where is the logic in starting Herrera who's just come back from injury over Pogba who had a flu? Mourinho is being really daft here. I really believe Pogba will leave if he's left out. This kind of move will have massive repercussions. He isn't injured because Mourinho didn't include him in that group with Rashford, Ibra, Jones.

Yeah that would be a real pickle. The scenario where he has been dropped seems much less worrying now opposed to your theory.

Highly doubt Pogba would decide not to play. If he did he wouldn’t even be in the squad.

Speaking as someone who had the flu recently, I can confirm that it plays hell with your cardio. I was weak as a kitten for a while after my dose. Once an injured player is back in full training, fitness shouldn't be an issue.

The more I think about this the more I hope Pogba is still a bit wiped out by the flu and failed some sort of fitness test, despite getting through a couple of training sessions. That's definitely the best scenario. All the others are - to varying degrees - depressing as feck.

He is probably not fit/well enough to play. I can't see him not wanting to play, I also don't see Jose not picking him if he is fully fit and picking Herrera instead

Seems we clearly doesn't know what's happening between both, strange news. Hopefully it's Ok.

Sorry but this is ridiculous.

A managers job is to get the best out his players and Jose is just not doing that with Pogba. None of our other midfield options are anywhere near as talented as him.

I thought about this the other day. I mean, if he woke up at Saturday with FLU symptoms (and not the common cold) he was never going to be ready in time for wednesday.

Barring a couple of games recently, Pogba has been having a good season, all this seems like a massive over reaction to me. I really hope he was just ill.

Why would he travel then? He trained normally with the group yesterday and we didn't hear problems with flu. I really hope you're right. Doesn't make any sense but let's wait and see the official line up. Fingers crossed its all speculation and Mourinho is just keeping his cards close to his chest.

Considering he trained with the team , if he is not playing then Jose is handling this wrong.

Or the dream scenario: Mourinho feeding false information to detect leaks. Which it is not :(

If this is a rift between Jose and Pogba then I only see one winner - Pogba. He seems very well liked around the club by pretty much everyone, so if Jose and him get to the stage where they have some irreconcilable shit going on, then I can see players being on Pogba's side. Then it's goodbye Jose. Obviously, hopefully, it's all just some bullshit.

Hadn't he only had one or two sessions since being unwell? Wouldn't be hugely surprising that he'd be unfit to play 90 still.

Thats just going to put an even bigger spotlight on Pogba, if true.

I usually wouldn't have a problem with this sort of thing but I think its unnecessary here.

Can't believe this is happening. Play him in a midfield 3 and he'll be fine. At least try that before alienating our biggest signing.

Why travel though. And Jose could have said yesterday in the presser that Pogz needs a late fitness test.

Similar speculations were said last season when Mourinho was benching Martial and it turns out to be BS, so hopefully this will be the same. Whether he's ill or Mourinho wants to prove something, let's see.

Travel just in case he can make the game. Anyway I hope he plays

Aye but surely Jose would have mentioned that hes not fully fit otherwise it just more speculation. Which exactly what has happened. :(

Anyways, not sure what is it with Pogba.
Matic Pogba and Ander loook a decent combination on paper.

No chance.

You can't let a player undermine you as a manager.
