People are no doubt gonna look into this too much, but the only thing strange is that he feels the need to tweet this because of the media. If it wasn't for the bullshit the media had been spouting then he wouldn't feel the need to say why he's out today. This tweet for me only solidifies what José said about the media spouting crap, because if any of it was remotely true and Pogba felt unhappy in his choice about coming to United, do you not think he wouldn't tweet and let the speculation grow more over him being out today?

What do you find strange about it?
Yeap,seems to be the case.

There's an article from Danny Higginbotam I read today, he makes the claim that the game has moved on from your typical box to box midfielder archetype, a midfielder thats always expected to do both, that the game is much quicker and in particular when you're playing against quicker opponents, especially the younger new breed of midfielders that seem to specialise in a certain something rather than do it all. He basically sais to expect Pogba to do what he's been doing he'd have to be Eden Hazard and Kante at the same time, influencing the game at the front but then getting back to stop the attacks to. Is this article crap or do you think there's some merit in it, is this because Pogba specialises in attack rather than defensive duties or is it a symptom of how Mourinho likes to play the game and what he expects his players to do
I dont think the games moved on from box to box midfielders, but you cant expect them to excel in a midfield 2 against teams that tend to play with 3. When you look back at that droolworthy Juve midfield that pogba was so good in, it was in a midfield 3 with other combative box to box midfielders Like Vidal and Marchisio anchored by a deep lying play maker. The system provides the balance for a midfielder who's fairly complete at the role, and right now we are asking him to do something incredibly difficult.

I could be completely wrong though.

He's ill, it happens. I'm sure the conspiracy theories will be out in force. Then clueless threads after the game depending on the result. Are we better without Pogba? Then if we lose, is Pogba our only hope? Hope he's ok for Sevilla.

Very strange. 'I need to get better' suggests a response to Mourinho's saying Pogba's form hasnt been good enough.
Don't feck this up José. Lose Pogba and youre in deep shit fella.
 he's bloody ill. Some of you are absolute mental cases  quick grab the tin foil hats and get in the bunker

To be honest this all just smacks of overblown media crap. But, there is a history of this sort of thing happening virtually everywhere Mourinho has been in the past so you can understand some peoples skepticism or confusion about the situation. Either way we don't need the scrunity when we are going into possibly one of the most important periods of make of break football we've been a part of
What I dont get is people trying to find drama where there isn't one.

You are pretty naive if you think in this media-savvy age that the wording Pogba's tweets such as this are not professionally 'measured'.
Besides you have no idea whether he's ill or not. If he has been ill last 2 games why play him?
Mourinho has got it wrongbwith his positioning of Paul and had backtracked on formation. 433.
Dangerous game from Mourinho. Let's hope there's no damage done and Jose starts to get his shit together, motivation wise and playing style wise.

No point reading too much into it, if he's ill for like 3 games on the trot then yeah, but I think @Pexbo explanation seems sound.

Pfft. Mock away, but 'Gutted' is nearly an anagram of 'Guti' who just happened to play for Real Madrid(!!!!)

Imagine the headlines if the lineup came and out of sudden Pogba isn't in squad.

"Pogba falling with Mourinho over his defensive duties"

"Pogba furious with Mourinho and seeks out"

"Madrid are in the race to sign "furious" Pogba"

"Mourinho drop Pogba of his plans as he prepare to launch a bid for that Serie A midfielder"

"Mourinho has lost the dressing room. Players have turned on him and United are in massive crisis"

"Moyes ready to take on United job again and complete his 6 years plan after dressing room falling with Mourinho"

Well, maybe the last one is somewhat OTT but the rest could have been the headlines tomorrow.

Don't give them ideas, we all know that they read the cafe.

I don't this he's ill.

I think it's Mourinho's way of protecting him with everything that's going on around him.

He'll sit this one out and be back for the Sevilla tie refreshed.

Don't like the way Jose just answered questions when asked about Pogba. Pretty much said he didn't know he was ill until this morning. When asked about how long he will be out he kind of said he doesn't care.

Or maybe nothing in this .
"This morning, I was told by the doctor. I don't know if he's out for a long time and honestly I don't care because I focus on the game and just on the game. I will think about Paul after the match."

That’s his public attitude to every player that’s injured, there’s nothing to read into them. He did the same with Zlatan.

Hopefully nothing, but I didn't like the way he said it too.
But to be fair, it's not like Jose will want to sell him — he does those kind of things pretty often, tough love and all, and usually it ends positively.

It was the way he said it. Seemed pretty much annoyed and disinterested TBH. With some of the rumors popping up he could have been a little more upbeat and positive.

He always talks like that when asked about unavailable player.

On his twitter account Pogba says he is gutted not to be with the boys but he needs to get better. He wishes them the best against Huddersfield.

I'm quite relaxed about this. He wasn't feeling well enough and that's it. Mourinho even went through the tactical preparations yesterday and told the players the team and he said Pogba was in the team. It's good to see him taking that responsibility instead of turning up and putting in an abject display which will hinder his teammates. If he's still ill and misses Sevilla and/or Chelsea then it's a different story...

Something about this doesn't smell right.

I don't see the Jose/Pogba relationship ending well. It is such a shame and all of this happened at the worst possible time.

Nothing in it.

Seriously people, don't panic.

What?

This is all overblown nonsense by the media desperate for a story/Twitter clicks etc. He's bloody ill. He will play against Sevilla , then he will play against Chelsea, he will probably have a couple of good games and he will be our best player all over again...until something else happens and the cycle will start all over again.

Posters here are really clutching at things they have absolutely no idea about. Seriously, get some fresh air and stop over-dramatising the situation.

All you can do is take what's at face value. Pogba tweeted that he can't play, Mourinho confirmed he couldn't. And he's probably back for Sevilla.

I hope you're right. The timing of the "illness" is terrible though after Jose went in so hard to show there were no issues between he and Pogba and underlined it with "he plays tomorrow". After that, he'd better be really bloody sick!

Either both of them are lying their guts or he indeed is sick. Jose didn't know Pogba's not feeling well yesterday.

Pogba isn't likely to come out and say "I'm not really sick. Just chucking a sickie to completely undermine my manager and show we're not on the same page because I'm acting like a little baby since he played me in a position I don't like".

Too many characters for twitter for starters.

Just watch the post match conference.

He probably felt that he wasn't at the right level for this game so took the game off to be fresh for the Sevilla game.

Professional footballer on a squillion quid a week pulls a sickie. Outrageous behaviour, a new low. Personally I've had it with this guy, hope he leaves.
