Cant think of anything Pogba did yesterday which Carrick couldn't have done. Also, Carricks' short to mid range passing is a lot more reliable and the team feels safer when he's on the ball. When Pogba gets it, it feels like everyone is on standby to cover for him losing it. Hopefully some of Carricks' class and knowhow will rub off on Pogba before he leaves the club. I want to see Pogba be "the man" when the likes of Hererra and Fellaini don't put in such heroic performances as yesterday.
Why are you like this?

Chased down Costa from about 20 yards away and nailed him with a perfect slide tackle.

He was great against Chelsea.

Our standout performers this season have been Mata, Valencia, Rojo, Herrera and Ibra. Bar Ibrahimovic, do you notice a trend? Each of them have been here for a few years now. Each of them has become accustomed to the players around them and each of them has become accustomed to the league.

Give it time Pogba will be the best midfielder in the league, I am sure of it.

Wonder what the opinion would be had he converted at least half of the shots which have hit the woodwork? Something like 12 goals would be quite good for a CM/DM.

Not to mention if his teammates (namely Zlatan) had converted even half the one on ones he's put them in for.

Zlatan would be on something like 35-40 goals mind, so I'd say he'd still be taking a lot of the limelight.

I don't think he was great yesterday, i think he was bordering on okay. Yesterdays win was more about the performances of Hererra and Fellaini who really upped their game. United are judged by very high standards so we shouldn't be ecstatic when a £90 million player wins a couple of tackles and completes a few passes. A lot more is required from him and I look forward to his improvement next season so that's my last word on Mr P.

Then why didn't Carrick start? Carrick and Pogba are different players with different mindsets and expectations for themselves and for the squad.

The sheer presence of a Pogba makes him be the primary man to account for, which allows for others to have a bit more freedom and not be under the same attention as Pogba. At Juve, you had to pick your poison between Pogba, Pirlo, Marchiso, Vidal. Pogba had that freedom, which he really isn't allowed anymore and he's adjusting.

Love how everyone is running back at full speed, dont know who impressed me the most, Pogba, Valencia or Rashford.
Yep, the commitment and desire ran through the team completely. No passengers and it really made a difference, showed how badly we wanted the win.

Yes, Carrick's passing is slightly safer and more reliable while Pogba's is more adventurous. Pogba also unlocks defenses and creates scoring chances far more frequently than Carrick does. Carrick has always preferred to defer to another more creative passer in midfield - I'm not sure what Pogba is supposed to learn from that. And this is coming from a big Carrick fan.

Btw, if you want to see a dominant Pogba midfield display, have a watch of our recent game against Anderlecht. Although the same posters who are saying he was poor yesterday were calling him poor then as well. So it's also a case of people see what they want to see.

No, what we should do, is stop talking about the price. Let the oppo fans focus on that.

Deco? I rate him. Should be in some big side...
Anyway, it is exactly my point: based on the dominant logic Keita > Iniesta/Kroos/Pogba..
Naby Keita of Leipzig. One of the very best, and his whole attitude suggests he's only going to get a lot better.
I'm not so sure that Leipzig is such a small side these days though. The director says he wouldn't swap Keita for Pogba. I guess he's implying that he wouldn't even accept 89 mil.?? Anyway I would pay. Keita is the dominator.

That effort is absolutely incredible, from everyone. Where's that been all season?

Look how quick Valencia is at the bottom! Quickest sprint in the league this year? (Like Rooney somehow got last year or the year before)

This is the kind of effort the boys displayed under Fergie. I wouldn't be surprised if the players themselves have rediscovered their full potential. Hope we kick on from here.

The tackle shows how much he's starting to develop himself defensively to be a complete midfielder. He has always been criticized for his defensive roles just to come with such an amazing tackle . It shows how disciplined he's starting to become.

Training with Jose at this age is the best thing for him as he'll teach him what he was missing from his play style and turn him into the complete midfielder he wants to become.

You can just tell Jose would be chuffed to bits with that kind of effort. That's the United we all love

Pogba is jealous of Kante. This is what the French media say after this interview ( http://www.skysports.com/football/n...sons-with-ngolo-kante-uniteds-season-and-more )

He has been hardly criticized on the french Twitter too.

TBH, many people would feel jealous (if Pogba really does) in this case (me included). I meant on one hand one player was given all the credit even thing they don't do. For example, Phil Neville rated Kante as no 10 no 6 no 8 altogether where in reality he is not really that good as no 6. No 10 that's funny. Chasing his own first touch...

Pogba was criticized for thing not within his control. As midfielder he is more often than not very good. It's not solely his job as midfielder to score goal. He is not always played as in Lampard role. He has no control over his teammate missing chances neither.

Weird if you used this as way to spin it as negative for Pogba's past performance. He never lacking effort. Thing is iit was not required, either our defenders can deal with the threat themselves or the other team don't even try (running with the ball through our midfield). Not even Kante would chase after a hoofball.

I can't stop watching that. We simply outran their counterattack. So many people motoring back!

It's beautiful, been watching it on replay too. Makes me feel funny inside, I don't remember the last time the players put such a shift in. Must have been years?

yeah I'd say it's been a while  that much pace though! It gets me moist.

It's incredible, just about every Chelsea player had a head-start and the United players still managed to get back into position before they could barely control the ball.

Valencia looks like fecking Ben Johnson there.. Great to see the desire from the guys there.

Not sure where you've got that I was implying Pogba never tries from, my point was the team as a whole haven't put that much effort in all season. That workrate is second to none

Aye, that video is the United style of play. Quick on the attack too. I'd take that over any of that shite Van Gaal tried to play.

Oh. Apologize for that. But still part of what I stated in previous post still holds some truth. Other teams often sit deep & often hoof long to bypass our midfield so there is not so much chasing like this instance against a team who play with the ball on the ground in counter attacking style.
