Patrick Dorgu | United in talks

delighted to see we're linked with him, I wanted to make a thread about him a week ago. He was very highly rated before Lecce, but now it's his second season in Italy and he's doing really well. 2 goals last season from LB/LWB, 2 goals this season already but he's mainly playing right winger - he's very versatile and a huge offensive threat. I watch a bit of Serie A and there's no doubt there are aspects of the game he still needs to improve to become world class - mainly positioning in defence, but also discipline (card happy, likes to take a red, too) and crossing are not his strongest areas.

I'm very hyped about him for a while now and he looks nailed to be a great player for Denmark, I always expected him to come to Premier League soon.

I'm getting Malacia vibes from him. Anyone watch him regularly? Doesn't look that special, based on the highlights.

never seen the lad play so can't speak that way about him however he does look to have bags of pace and similar to frimpong from Bayer...u need that sort of athleticism to play that wing back role in a 3421

Malacia had no athleticism. He was signed to be a squad player and never really challenge Shaw.

Dorgu clearly has the physicality and legs.

What? He was incredibly athletic. Yeah, he cost around €12m so clearly a back-up.

Another Serie A player ??

From the bottom of the table side no less than have conceed 20 times in 11 games

Also hes only played leftback once and left wingback once this season. He's played right wing 4 times

Gonna go ahead and assume theres nothing to this

I like this player. He's versatile, has tons of pace and athleticism. He's perfect for the LWB role. If we can't bring in Davies on a free, Dorgu makes a lot of sense. Whilst he's played in Seria A, I think with his speed, he will be a good fit for the EPL. Remember Udogie came from Serie A too, and he's doing well for Spurs.

He's pretty highly rated. I'm sure Conte was trying to tap him up after the game last week

his pace looks similar to the young kid Quenda at sporting....who i wouldn't be shocked if they go back for him next summer

Is he a powerful runner we need a true wide man for that left wingback role especially.

Never seen him play before but from the highlights video, looks like he has great close ball-control and is quite athletic, but a lot of his highlights come from central positions quite high up the pitch.

Cool. We picked a fecking difficult game for Lecce to scout  Dorgu was nothing special yesterday, but it wasn't a bad game either. A couple of shots (maybe too many for our liking?), most of them on target and quite threatening, a successful dribble or two, dispossessed too easily once or twice. I thought his passing was a bit shit yesterday in all honesty. Since they started playing him as a right winger this season it's really difficult to assess him and to guess what's his best role at the moment.

Any chance we pinch spurs left wing back who looks super impressive and was also from Serie A
Think they would realistically want close to 80m or maybe even more for Udogie so I think that’s a non-starter.

I also think for the LWB role we may want someone better going forward than Udogie, which is why I think this Dorgu could be a shout but he’ll be another young, raw player in the squad with no PL experience.

I’m coming more round to the idea of Kerkez from Bournemouth who is still very young at 21 but will have 2 years prem experience under his belt by next summer. He has really good intensity to his game which I think Amorim will love and technically he will only get better. He feels annoyingly well suited to Liverpool too though as a Robertson replacement and I’d hate to see him end up there.

I keep reading rumors about Dorgu to Manchester United. I have seen him play a few times now, as he is a young Danish talent and is already in the national team and plays in series A.

But I have to say that there is no way I think he will be good enough for the level we want United to be at. Dorgu is a skilled back, especially offensively. But he will be like many of our purchases: just not good enough. I would compare him to Malacia - better than Malacia already, but still not good enough.

If we’re signing that lad from Paraguay I can’t see us signing another project like this lad. It’ll be someone more experienced

- Lecce's Patrick Dorgu is working his way up Manchester United's left-back shortlist, says Fabrizio Romano. The Denmark international has been scouted by United in recent months, while Napoli are also said to be keeping tabs on him. Dorgu, 20, has impressed for club and country, contributing three goals in Serie A this season. While the likes of Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez and PSG's Nuno Mendes are higher on United's shortlist, Dorgu's comparatively small transfer fee could make him more of an attractive option.

as the guy who started this thread....certainly agree that this guy would be a fantastic signing for helping to solve our wing back issue on either side

I hope we can get it done for around 30m and don’t get fleeced.

An article on him if anyone wanted some more details.

I'm wondering how accurate that chart is given it says comparing to FB's / WB's and I believe he's been playing RW for Lecce this season?

It would presumably inflate some of his attacking stats, but you'd think bring his defensive stats right down and they still look high so who knows.

Can we really afford to go for another prospect player? As really good potential but if we sign him we probably need 1 more
