Pakistan vs England (in UAE) 2012

Pakistan will take a small lead - less than 100. I expect England to post about a lead of 250 for Pakistan to win who will collapse and we run out easy winners.

Why wasn't Ajmal capped during his 20s? And England's batsmen look inpet against the doosra...if in doubt....sweep. Something's never change eh? I blame Gatting.

From what I've gleaned about the Pakistani selection process on the PakPassion forum, there could be any of a hundred reasons why he wasn't capped, none of which have anything to do with cricket.

Good player though.

True. There are quite a few who are said to be very good but for some reason never get selected for the National team. Anwar Ali always gets mention when this subject comes up.

Nothing to worry Pakistan has a very poor batting lineup. Even if we post a 150 lead in the second innings Pakistan cant get that.

So Ajmal has a standard delivery (pehla)
And one that turns the other way (doosra)
Now a phoney war ball which goes straight (teesra)

Is it that England are just a bunch of chootas? ;)

Good to see we haven't collapsed yet. Anyone know why U. Akmal is not playing?

Not sure what that means, but it sounds racist...

It can work as a double entendre in the context of what dumbstar posted:

'pehla' means first, 'doosra' the other/second, 'teesra' means third and 'chota' would mean the fourth. However, 'choota' (I think) means cnut/feckers.

Those 2 wickets have swung the game back in England's favour with our history of collapses. If we can get a lead of 120+ that'll be decent. Here is hoping Ajmal causes more mischief in the second innings...

You sound really negative here, I'd say we were in the shit & Pakistan have very much the upper hand...

We have a history of cocking up winning situations and I don't expect the English batsman to bat as poorly as they did in the first innings. If we require 200+ runs to win the match then I'd be backing England. It's probably evenly balanced right now, a lot will depend on how well our spinners bowl.

I prefer the way Pakistan have played historically. This is anti cricket.

This Pakistan side has a different edge to the one that came to England last year. I don't see them bottling it a chase of 250 ish. Plus England's batting all of the tour has been abysmal so I don't count on them performing in the 2nd innings particularly if Ajmal actually bowling on a spinning pitch this time round.

Helps having the likes of Younis, Akhtar, Akram et al to call upon. I think this side's pragmatic and certainly more professional than older Pakistan sides, but the bowling still good to watch... despite them losing a couple of bowlers to the spot fixing scandal. And they're in a very good position, anything over a 100+ will be difficult to claw back.

They should remove Hot Spot IMO. It's absolutely crap and is wrong many times. The Hawk Eye should remain as it's actually useful.

And cricket is still better off having it...so there you are.
It removes the absolute howlers for sure, so it should definitely be used. But they need to use reliable technologies, Hot Spot evidently is not one.

The whole crap about decision going back to on field umpires or not going or whatever needs to be made simpler and in tune with trying to be consistent no matter what the flow. Otherwise you have some baffling cases when in an exact situation you have two different decisions depending on what decision on field umpire gave before the review.

25-3 now.

I reckon this could end today.

Good performance by the English bowlers - I think they have done very well. The top order, however, is what has handed the game to Pakistan. All credit to the Pakistani bowlers, but some of the shots....

Horrible shot by Pietersen.

75-5. Sure Ajmal's action is not suspect? Gul also should come under the microscope.

Else, how can this great English batting crumble?

Ah. Yes. Its the weather. Its playing tricks. Mirage everywhere.

Lets see if Pakistan bottle this up.
