Pakistan vs England (in UAE) 2012

We are seeing the real Pakistan it's always more Mr Hyde than dr Jekyll.

I dont see other teams play so cluelessly at times.

We should have won that game but credit to England who took wickets at the right times although they were helped by poor batting. Afridi's wicket was key, stupid shot selection. Rehman's innings was just stupid.

Very good batting again from Cook.

Basically MS Dhoni will solve loads of Pakistan's ODI problems.

I said after the last game that Cook has played very well since becoming captain and the stats are backing this up: his average has gone from 30 to 55 and strike rate from 68 to 92. Very impressive turn around.

Another Pakistan batting collapse. Clueless batting. But this seems contrived. I suspected a whitewash and I wonder how the odds are changing.

Too easy for England.

Unrelated to this, but anyone know when the T20 WC is?

I suspect betting irregularities. Pakistan have been too pliant. Gul three no balls in one over. Cook three one day odi centuries in a row. Something doesn't seem right.

Great being a Pakistan fan. Either they win spectacularly or they fix matches. They never lose matches. The only matches lost are when they want to.

Gul's generally clean, btw. Doubt there's any fixing going on on his part. So many no balls, just not finding his steps..

Pakistan's batting is piss poor and their usually reliable bowling has let them down, that's all.

Pakistan's batting in the test series was also piss poor, but England managed to outshit them.

I'd agree, and in any case the no-balls were marginal, unlike those of Amir that we saw a couple of years ago.

Well that didn't happen!

England deservedly win

I'm glad others are seeing this now. I thought I was going mad all these years.

From world beaters to no-ballers, all in the same venue. :(

Oh the good ol excuse of match fixing when Pakistan loses a cricket match.

The entire series was fixed. Pakistan don't lose matches.

Brilliant bowling from Gul helps Pakistan win. Good game, I was quite impressed by Bopara today.

Does anyone really care about T20?

Alright, so it's not bad as a fun day out I suppose, but the fact that no one posted in this thread until after it was over kinda shows that it's actually rubbish.

I didn't even realise it was on!

Test matches are still the most exciting format but I prefer T20s to ODIs. If one format has to be killed then I hope it's 50 over cricket.

That's your opinion & your entitled to it, but T20 is either ignored on here or laughed at, or both.

The 50 over format created a lot more traffic/posts, it gives time to develop an innings & play in for the batsmen & there are enough overs for the ball to get worn. Its a short form of the game, but it seems worthwhile.

They got rid of the Sunday league in England which was 40 overs. Didn't there used to be a 60 over format for a while at one time? 50 overs works well, T20 is frankly a bit silly.

Have to say when 20/20 first came in I was excited. But its really not cricket. There is still skill involved, e.g. spinners, slow balls, middle order run accumulating, but its all just a bit of non-serious fun.

I'm not a fan but I prefer it over 50 over cricket.

I don't understand why you would prefer it though.

It doesn't offer anything much that approximates to cricket as we know it...

Can't answer for Spoony but I prefer T20 to 50 over cricket as it's far more fun to watch.

The middle overs in ODIs get boring and often you have matches where one side is completely outplayed and loses by a large margin. In T20 it's quicker with no 'boring' overs and it's more competitive than 50 over cricket as a couple of overs can change the dynamics of the match.

ODI/T20 cricket is not as serious or technically challenging as Test match cricket, I've always viewed it as a laid-back alternative to Test match cricket which all can enjoy. It doesn't satisfy the purists but there is some skill involved to playing T20, it's not just a joke imo. As I said before, if they're going to get rid of one format I'd rather it be 50 over cricket.

Good start by Pakistan, although I expect the inevitable collapse once this partnership is broken.

Ajmal was brilliant again.

Great over by Dernbach.

I knew Misbah was brilliant, but he's even better than I've hated him for. That 'loss' was a masterpiece. Bravo, and I thought I saw it all. :claps:

I never thought he could mastermind that India semi final again. But he surpassed it.

Pakistan  - How on earth did they manage to feck that up??

Still can't believe they whitewashed England in the test series ..

Reckon if the ODI's and T20s had been played first England would have won the Tests

No coincidence that the batsman that played pretty much from the start to finish in Pietersen and Cook came good towards the end. Morgan still would have been a flop but he's not a Test player.

Great series. That loss was strange, we definitely should have won.

Never really got the T20 snobbery myself. It's great fun and a great way to introduce people to the sport. There's no point comparing it to Test cricket because it's a completely different animal, but to say there's no skill to it seems a bit blind.

Clearly there's tactics behind it, as shown by England's excellent use of spin in today's game. Yes it's more laid back and yes it's a less patient game, but the way a match can turn on its head in one over, you don't really get that as much in the other forms of the game, and for that T20 offers its own brand of excitement.
