Paddy McNair

Very good debut. Saved us 2 points with that header. May it continue.

Man, he really stepped up! That header in the 2nd half saved us from conceding a goal for sure. Huge, huge performance from him in his 1st ever competitive game!

Edit: Also, some his passes were brilliant

Great debut. As Fergie said, give young people a chance and as often as not they'll surprise you.

What a horrible game to debut in, but he did fantastically well. Would love to see more of him.

When we went down to 10 men McNair must have had his heart in his mouth. For a kid on his debut being thrown into that he did bloody well. That diving header to save the ball from going in or to a West Ham shirt will be a real collector's item for him and his family.

So it's not actually the end of the world playing an U21s CB in a home match against West Ham then...We actually only conceded 1 from De Gea's mistake.Miracle isn't it?

Wtf are you saying?

He showed remarkable composure and positional sense. Defending is not all about powerful headers and eye-catching tackles. The lad was outstanding today.

Yes. I stand corrected. He's excellent towards the end. That header clearance reminds me of Terry's for Giggs shot in CL final.

Definitely had his nervy moments but defensively I thought he didn't put a foot wrong.

Considering that was his first game at this level you can't ask for more.

Defender brilliantly. That header towards the end was sensational, something Vidic would be proud of.

Very good debut for him looked very composed and did not make any major mistake that header towards the end saved us 2 points

Loved the diving header! Also loved the fact that he walked into the midfield with the ball at his feet. He was a midfielder before becoming a centre back right?

yes

I thought he did really well. Obviously that clearing header was his best moment. Look composed on the ball. Didn't try anything stupid. Kept it safe.

For someone with absolutely no experience of first team football, that was a superb performance.

Great debut, saved our arse with that header near the end, everything was pretty neat and picked, rightfully, the 'easy-options'.

Firstly he commented @ half time. And secondly, McNair was average today, in a good sense. A youngster playing average on his debut is a good thing, especially at CB.

Did fine today, happy for him and glad that lads of our reserve can start in such a PL game and look decent.

Impressed by his performance today. He didn't get bullied kept his composure and looked fairly comfortable.

That header

Played well, him and Rojo communicated often too - I don't expect him to keep his place, but it's great to have the option of having him as back up.

Who would think you could bring a kid in when you needed it in a position you needed it and it'd work out! Even if it's just a game, did well considering they played a lot of difficult balls through the middle and out wide. That clearance is as good as a goal. You have to be in control at that moment as that headed clearance could easily have been an OG if his body shape was wrong.

Two and a half years ago he was probably the last member of the u18s squad you'd contemplate playing at CB and now he's looked the part in the Premiership. That is quite remarkable. I'm starting to think he might turn into something very, very special in that position.
