i really don't want to get my hopes up.... but I would absolutely love to see Hargreaves back and positively contributing to Man United. We need him to be the player he once was - if that can happen (it is a big IF imo) he would greatly improve our midfield.

Let's hope that this isn't another false dawn, I'm certainly trying to keep my hopes at a minimum but nonetheless I'd be delighted to see him pull on a United shirt again as he is a quality enhancement to most squads and seems a very decent lad too.

I'm actually starting to think he might play some real football for us again.

wow...fergie isn't the only one who's shocked. Back in training and looking good.

Great news. I would love it...absolutely love it if Hargreaves proved me wrong. (i didn't actually believe we would ever see him play a full 90 minutes for us)

He'll be a great option for right midfield, in Valencia's absence or right back position if he returns at a similar level to 2008. Far better right back than anyone we've got now, and he was excellent in the few games he played on the right of midfield. I doubt he'll start many games in central midfield though, especially in 4-4-2, unless we have an injury crisis. We've plenty of depth in that position, and Fletcher plays a very similar role and is less versatile.

Hargreaves always looks good. :nervous:

Fantastic news. We need him at right back pronto.

Hargo & Nani on the right whipping in crosses for Berbatov to bicycle them in, it's almost not fair to the other teams.

You Sir, make a lot of sense.

So when do you lot reckon we can realistically expect to see him?

Not shocked he looks sharp in training - he's always been that sort of person.

Holy Santa Clause shit!

We need this kind of depth in our midfield (Anderson, Carrick, Hargreaves) so it's great news :D (especially with Valencia out for so long).

In his only and only game of football this last 12 months or so (for our reserves) I thought he looked sharp as anything. Best player on the pitch, by far.

He does seem to be someone who doesn't need many games to get up to speed after being out injured (must be all the practice!)

That match was quite amusing actually, he basically sat infront of the back four taking the piss out of the other sides midfield dancing around them and then passing it off.

I remember he made one lung busting run down the left wing but when he didn't get the ball he just trotted back into our half and never left it again.

Excellent news. I'm really pleased for him and I hope he doesn't pick up any niggles. I would like to see him play again as I have almost forgotten what he plays like.

If he can stay fit then it will be good for players like Fletcher, Anderson, Gibson and Carrick as it will keep them on their toes. The more competition the better!

Hopefully this is good news, but I'm not going to get my hopes up until I see him play a couple of successive good games. So much of his game is based around getting stuck in and having a good engine and with such a long term injury you never know what state he's in mentally.

Maybe Pogue or other caftards who have knowledge of injuries can confirm this but when a player hasn't played for so long competitively, more often than not he picks up minor injuries.
I mean he doesn't just come back and play 5-6 months without any problem, it's rare

indeed, when Eduardo was coming back for Arsenal he was always picking up muscle strain injuries for example, same with Neville when he was coming back for us.

Very likely he is going to tweak, pull or strain some muscles as he gets back into the swing of proper training.

Also a pity that he will have virtually no oppotunities for reserve team football as there are no games scheduled after monday night until November.

Is Hargreaves a stylish player ? How could his link up with Berbatov be special ?

Hargreaves creativity and passing ability gets very underrated because he's considered as a defensive 'midfielder'. He's got a super first touch and great ability to hold up the ball.

Not just a mopper up by any stretch.

God I really fecking hope he comes back this time, I don't want to be optimistic because something is always likely to go wrong again. Oh well.

Lets just hope that he can get back to his best now, that is a big ask. I honestly thought he was finished so it is great news

Made it through training! Get in!

I wonder if Monday is a little too soon for him to perhaps make the bench? It depends on how close he is to playing. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see him perhaps being pencilled in for some sort of participation for the next round of the Carling Cup, which is in the last week of October. A run out as sub, a couple of reserve games and probably a behind closed door game to get him really up and running with a view to fiighting for selection by mid November perhap.
