berba + 20 million for pato. done deal. i mean the 80 million is there to spend. :D

If Berba's value is around 20M then you are saying 40M is enough for Pato? Remember Milan rejected a HUGE bid from an unknown source this past summer and everyone was talking that bid was close to 60M.

Berbatov would Dominate Serie A and show all the berbahaters how class he is.

No fecking way! as useless as berba is, huntelar is even more useless.. would rather have berba at united than huntelar.

berba miles better than huntlara

so huntelaar might be coming to the premier league
how did it go from that to berba-huntelaar swap-ish deal ?

huntelaar would probably be a good signing for fulham or birmingham

He's played for two European giants in the last couple of years and ****ped at both clubs.

Why the feck would we want him? Terrible terrible deal if true. I'd rather keep Berbatov.

I'm sure it would be Hunter**** plus money. He's not that good but he could become a dependable stand in for Rooney so it wouldnt be the end of the world. But he does need to work on his all round game.

Well Huntelaar is quite similar to Ruud in his style of play. He would do well with Rooney imo.

Or he could also lead the line. And he would get loads of crosses and chances to score from.

His goals/games ratio is good tbf. Tall, athletic, lead-the-line type striker; would fit in better than Berba does imo.

Huntelaar isn't bad. Wouldn't be my choice though considering his recent record. How old is he now anyway?

He is 26, so supposedly in his prime as a footballer. I thought he was a very good player when he was still at Ajax and if we could have had him then, SAF could have turned him into an even better player. Now, after his recent seasons, I am not convinced at all.

Anyway, I like Berba and hope he stays at United.

Huntelaar's performance in CL vs us didn't impress but SAF likes a bit of Dutch so there might be something in this.

I can see Berbatov being a revelation in the Serie A, less sure about Huntelaar in PL, so doubt this will be a straight swap unless there's a big differential in contracted wages, and although it's probably bullshit I can see some logic.

We need someone 'good but benchable' so we can rest Rooney from time to time without dropping points.

If we're going 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 in big games then a quartet of

Rooney (first name on the list for big games)
Huntelaar (target man to throw on / flat track bully for "bottom half" games)
Owen (seasoned peformer, will nick you a few over the season when fit) and Hernandez (surprise package, could go either way)

may not be a bad balance, given the financial situation.

Feels like a creative attacking midfielder is a greater priority, but I think Berba pissed on his chips with the Blackburn meltdown.

Yeah thats not him.

He's not very athletic and his holdup play is pants but surely must improve over time. He'd score some goals though, just you'd always be wanting more from him in the buildup before the cross and the chance.

Still, you probably cant have everything from a stand in.

After watching us lob so many balls into the box which seem to end back on the halfway line, I'd even be excited about us being linked with Kevin Davies.

Just to get that old fashioned rush of excitement when crosses / corner / free kicks are headed goalwards in a manner that threatens the opposition and has the promise of a goal. Even if it was just for a season.

That fella Rooney seems to be fairly efficient with his head..

As a sub for Rooney, I'd happily have him. As a player being swapped in for Berbatov when we play 442, not a chance.

Berbatov's a far more effective player for us overall than he would be, though he'd score more goals.

I'd like to think that Huntelaar has simply joined the wrong clubs and not had the benefit of a Ferguson type education. He went to Real at a young age having been successful at Ajax and highly thought of around Europe, but perhaps that wasn't the right club for him to join. I get the impression AC wasn't either and that he's a player who might benefit hugely from being managed by someone like Ferguson. At the very least, he'd run around a more than Dimi.

I'd like to think all that, but.................

When I've watched him, he has never seen to me to be that mobile. At least Berbatov moves around, if not at blistering pace. Huntelaar always seems very static to me.

I think we need some evidence to review........
