Because if it doesn’t work out for Liverpool they still have a title-winning squad to compensate. If it doesn’t work out for us we’re left facing yet another season of impotence on the right wing and general lack of quality forward options, Greenwood’s development notwithstanding.
I’m not sure we do though? Our front 3 is pretty exciting. We just need more options.
if we can't get sancho, dembele on loan could be a good option. Could be a blinder or an absolute disaster.
I don't think this will end up happening, Ive just watched one of his compilation videos and that's usually the final nail in the coffin.
I weirdly do think it could accidentally be a stroke of genius if he can stay fit, big if I know.

Greenwood development curve should be getting him to play more centrally. Dembele can play both wing, even during rotation time, it would mean Greenwood getting enough game time between LF and CF. It's better than sharing gametime, and being supported (more like carrying) by dross like Pereira, James, Lingard.

For people comparing to ADM situation, you have to remember it had something to do with LVG man management too. ADM was not his prize signing, and there is clear character clash, that adding fuel to ADM undesire to stick for long.
When we're at it, Robben was also forced out. Feeling welcomed at Bayern, and he pretty retired from top level football at Bayern (I know he's returned to play for his Dutch club), while starting a successful period for Bayern.

We already have two sulky French players, so what could possibly go wrong with one more?
I don’t mind this in theory but it can’t be instead of Sancho. He’s literally the perfect signing in every way. English. 20. Elite level numbers already and potential. Friends at the club. Marketing gem in waiting.
Ole could be great for Dembele. He's had a great effect on Martial and Dembele's national teammates at the club could help settle him.

He didn't want to leave barça, has an injury record that makes Phil Jones look like captain America, he's always late for training and gives huge disciple issues, can't tell when last he's actually played well, is on huge wages and most of all he's not Jadon Sancho.

I'm not so sure if we are the best club to take in another injury-prone player. Our fitness regime, especially under Ole, doesn't fill me with much confidence anyway, just think of Martial, Rashford, Pogba last season as well as our constantly injured CBs.
Also, Dembele didn't play all that much football last year, which can be a desaster for the development of a relatively young player such as himself.
Overall, I would be extremely wary of any deal, even if it's only a loan.

Rather get sancho and Brooks or Sarr or even Memphis. Dembele was a phenomenal player at times at Dortmund then it all went tits up and he has breadsticks for hamstringsSee my post, it’s Dembele and Sancho
Seems like he wants the United move but didn't fancy living in Liverpool.
I'm baffled that people are getting this upset about a potential loan for a player that has shown unreal potential at our exact position of need. Who cares if he gets injured or doesn't fit in? He'll be back in Barca and his career at the top will be in danger in that case anyways. But the chance that he comes in with fire and motivation and stays fit is the opportunity to get one of the biggest talents in football at almost no risk. Obviously we shouldn't purchase him outright, but a loan with an option should be a no brainer if the player is interested.

Let’s look at his playing record : 30 games in 21 months. Robben at his worst was nowhere near that. Plus robben tended to be out for an extended period then he would play for months at a time. Dembele is playing 5 game, then out for 10. People saying it doesn’t matter if he injured on a loan are missing the fact of why we need him in the first place.

I don’t see problem if he joins on loan, it’s a punt and he’ll probably be injured most of time but Sancho deal seems very unlikely and I’d rather a panic loan than a panic buy.
So would they be willing to accept only a loan with option to buy are do they insist on it being a permanent sale?
A loan would with us covering his wages would benefit both sides given Koemans reported hard-on for Memphis and it'd be as good a potential stop gap in case of missing out on Sancho that we could find this late in the window.
If he's open and Barca are OK with a loan, I think it could have huge upside for us. Would allow us to really rotate regularly with our forwards without having the massive drop off in quality we currently suffer from
Getting dembele literally means you are relying on the same players as last year.
Except he won’t be rotating if he is injured. Plus he will cost us around 20m if it’s a pure loan
I'm still not convinced this will actually happen but if there's even half a chance it's worth pursuing. Sancho won't happen at this point and Dembele is the next rung down in terms of top wingers we might be able to attract.

Yep - since joining Barca at the start of the 17/18 season he's missed 80 games through injury, including 40 last season alone - he was out injured for 294 days last year with three separate injuries.
He's had four separate hamstring injuries, plus other muscle injuries. He's not been unlucky or suffered a couple of nasty tackles - he's injury-prone, and since leaving Dortmund he can't stay fit for more than a few weeks at a time. Given how important pace is to his game, and the type of injuries he's had, I also can't really see him having a long career at the highest level. he's the kind of player I wouldn't be surprised to see at West Ham in a few years time...

Much rather sign persic on loan instead. Dembele no doubt had the potential to be a very good player but his last few years form and injuries has me doubting he will offer us anything improvement wise. We seem to have a good relationship with inter so maybe it would be easier to get an experienced pro who is solid and can play both sides.then go for sancho next year and if persic was actually a success he might be cheap enough to sign up too. Here's hoping something happens transfer wise but after this summer, I'm very doubtful
