Speaking to Kicker, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told Kicker: “The time horizon is enough for two games,” meaning Barcelona have around a two week deal to make a move for Dembélé
So yeah pretty much the same thing.

A current RN article states that there is still no communication between player and club and according to them they haven't received a second, better, offer from Barcelona yet. They also state that Dortmund demand at least €120m upfront and that €20m of that sum would go to Rennes.

Meanwhile Bild reports that they spotted three "dark skinned men in jogging gear" come out of Dembele's "white house" at 8:34pm (I kid you not) - supposedly friends of his - and that they loaded some suitcases into a Mercedes (A) before they drove off very quickly.
Quality journalism!

Dembele turned down every big club to sign for Dortmund for about 15m euros....

Media seem pretty much in agreement that it was €15m upfront, another €15m in addons and 25% (but not more than €20m) of his selling fee.

This is turning into a soap opera.

After yesterday's clasico Segura, Barca's DoF(?), apparently said

"Coutinho and Dembele are both close," Segura told TV3. "We are hopeful that they will end up wearing the Barca shirt."

He added: "Until deals are closed I can't say anything. We know we have to help the team and reinforce it and that's what we are doing."

Today Kicker released two articles:
The first one titled: Barca close to signing Dembele - really?
in which they state that there has been no contact between the clubs for nine days and that Dortmund has not received any improved offer.
Aside from that Dembele is apparently still AWOL, according to them (Kicker) he might have left the country.

The second one is Watzke's reaction:
They quote an "angry" Watzke: "I can't explain to myself what he's talking about. At best it's because Real ran circles around his team in the super cup matches."
"Barca hasn't come a milimeter closer to their wish of realizing the Dembele transfer."

So what's going on here? Is Seguera feeling certain that they don't need to revise their offer because Dembele's behaviour will do their job for them? Or did he dish out some empty promises because the two clasicos backed him into a corner? Either way it looks like they have a very nice management..

Watzke after Barca manager Segura told on their official website that a deal with Dembele (and Couthinho) is close: "I can't explain why he is saying that. Maybe it is because Real Madrid played them all dizzy in SuperCopa."

I hope BVB closes the gates, but Barca will probably pay 150m soon.

I do think Dembele will still move to Barca this summer but they're going to pay big bucks.

Why are we not atleast competing, We are just some pieces away from a top top team .

Its criminal to let dembele and mane both go without even competing for them. Criminal.

Lingard has to improve a way lot more on the right wing in the final third, one the left wing he still is invisible, and he is the only one with that creativity and ability to counter, Mata is also not the one you play when you need the ability to carry the ball from defense to attack and yet be creative.

How do you know we didn't inquire but he didn't want to? The club aren't going to make failed bids/inquiries public.

Funny how the caf experts seem to know exactly what's going on behind the scenes innit? It's obvious he wants to go to barca, who've just been handed €200m and can outbid whoever they want.

Barcelona will pay. Might as well do it now. They have no leverage at all. What do they think they´ll accomplish with their waiting tactics? Dortmund can finish top 3 in Germany even without Dembele and the savage amount of injuries they currently have.

I´m Dortmund I just keep the money and throw the kitchen sink at Keita next summer. That´s the move that could elevate them to the next level. Toljan is a fanatastic signing imho. He has been outstanding for Germany. Not sure why he allegedly sucks for Hoffenheim, but combine the fees of Keita and Toljan, it´s like buying Philipp and Toprak this summer, and those two are not even projected starters.

Well that, and his price tag. I highly doubt the Glazers are willing to approve a transfer budget north of 300m € for a single window.

I think we had the money. We seemed eager on Bale who wouldn't have costed much different, but Dembele seems to have a soft spot for Barca.

It would be a good deal for them if they get both coutinho and dembele. Keita could aso be tapped up by klopp.

Its baffling,

What is baffling? That first a young player chose a club pretty much perfect for his development and that later he wants to go to Spain? What are we supposed to do, cuff him to a fecking radiator? Barca and Real can throw as much cash for a player as we do.

If their plan is to wait until the last second and then pay up I'd add a "little" thug tax if I was Watzke.

the feck are you on about? they just gave a reason why we're not bidding for him that makes complete sense and you say it's baffling?

all you seem to do is moan about the club, do you even get enjoyment from football?

I am not moaning, but we are constantly falling short of what we need in the transfer market every season since sir alex left to get to our former standards, and we are making some very questionable decisions as well for not pursuing some players aggressively who might take us to that next level. We are punching below our weight in the market.

And our youth core is still undeveloped in the over all game which was not the case before. For a club of united's stature we are falling short somehow because of our recruitments every single time since fergie stepped down. If you spend so much money, ideally you should not play catch up in terms of being very top in europe as well.

It's funny having to watch folks cry about why we're not in for a player who has stated doesn't want to come to England.

Under Moyes and LvG? Yes, we were, but what do you expect with such crap managers and a lack of CL football?

Under Mourinho? No, bollocks, absolute bollocks. Pogba, Zlatan, Bailly, Matic and Lukaku are all clearly excellent signings and Mkhi should prove himself to be one too.

You could complain about Dembele if it was actually obvious he wanted to come here and we weren't bidding, but um, he has publicly stated he wants to play in Spain and Barcelona are willing to pay an astonishing fee for him. Exactly what the feck do you expect the club to do in that scenario? All you're doing is complaining about us not being in for him whilst completely ignoring the fact that it's pretty much impossible for us to get him!

Also what do you mean you're not moaning? That's exactly what you're doing

It's basically the same type of shit you can say about Fergie, losing out on Hazard, Moura, why haven't we brought Ander in earlier, what about Kroos, etc., etc.

Have to agree. It takes time to rebuild a team from scratch and you even got a European trophy in the fecking process (thanks to the worst EL in recent memory to put it nicely). Pogba, Bailly, Mkhitaryan, Matic, Lukaku and Rashford (who would easily cost 40-50M on the open market conservatively) were all hits. You spent big, but you spent well. Imagine you paid that money for Defool and Paulinho instead.

Tbf I don't really think it is. We could have gotten Hazard if we paid the agent fee. We haven't a chance with Dembele regardless of finances. Fergie missed out on a lot of players because of his stubbornness and that was a big part in the decline of our squad. Mourinho hasn't had the same issues and aside from Perisic has pretty much gotten the players he wants regardless of cost.

As expected the reports from Spain have all been rubbish and Barca not closer to sign Dembele.

Also as expected Barca are making complete fools out of themselves and they wont look better end of August, if they think Dortmund will reduce their demands and bend over for them.

I like the response from Watzke and this Segura idiot truly showing the incompetence of the Barca Board and their typical disgusting behaviour.

They are so desperate that they are prob going to pay the 150m€ to get him though.

Yeah, I meant more in the sense that you could point out our reluctance to 'get the young talent whatever the cost' and the shortcomings connected with it to pre-Moyes times. Pretending that it all started going the wrong direction just as soon as Fergie left is just not true.

Barca being Barca, cry to La Liga, try and get all European super clubs to go against PSG for allegedly tapping up and signing Neymar, they openly speak about other clubs players. They're such a pitiful club and I don't feel one bit sorry that they're now floundering to Real, so poorly run top to bottom.

If they signed him the first week of the transfer window (before neymar, morata, lukaku..etc) they get him for €70m. That then rises to €100m due to the crazy transfers. Then the desperation and €200m Neymar money that raises to €150m!

I'm delighted, Barcelona are a bunch of cnuts.

Yeah, true. The club has really stepped it up under Mourinho, though, which is good to see.

I see , you failed to catch the point between the lines, I am not saying we are going in a wrong direction under mourinho or lvg, But we are faling short in getting and completing that jigsaw which would take us to the next level and sharpen our attack which could break top defenses and create chances against top teams.

Generally players go to some clubs who they feel will compete for top most honours in the game and they will fit in the profile eaisily, which is not the case with united because consistently falling short to get that. Its not just about dembele, but lack of agressive push to get to that level.

Our attack is not sharp enough to create enough chances and score many goals in big games when you compare all of the big clubs to us. We lack that creative spark on the right hand side who provides that right balance. If we are willing to be agressive on that issue then only the players flock to those projects which takes the club to that next level.

There is whole lot difference between moaning and being realistic about our quality and stating the obvious. Its just not only about dembele but every other players we dont go agreesive on who would take us to that next level in terms of our over all play.

We are going in the right direction under mourinho , but yes he has to fix some issues which he is ignoring , faiing to fix , or the club is not showing enough ambition to get him everything which is needed to give that final push, we are stopping short of that one or two final jigsaw.
