Our Transfer Strategy This Summer

Absolutely did.

There was speculation about Nani going in part exchange with Scheijder I'm not saying he's going, but merely that it is possible. He's not holding down a first team place at the business end of the season when you really want to be involved.

Players don't get tired at all nah? he's not playing so he must be shit....

 Why have you put De Gea and Lindegaard in goal next to eachother, but Van Der Sar in goal and Kuzszcak out at like left back?

Didn't you know!

Pig was do desperate for somebody to show him their skills 'since apparently vds wouldn't' that Evra said he'd do it. He's now known as PARB

Hernandez: Check it out, did he transfer list Nani?

I think some of you are failing to appreciate the OP's tactical brilliance:

This formation is designed to utilize the "buddy system". First off, the brilliant two-keeper pairing. When you've got two keepers, who needs defense? Secondly, you have three pairs (Diarra/Di Rossi, Pastore/Sneijder, and Sanchez/Young) who stick tightly together, possibly to avoid getting lost. Up front, the OP's humility shines through, as seen in his question mark admitting that he doesn't know how to spell Danny Welbeck's name.

This formation was developed in case the FA, in its enduring idiocy, decided to try and further hamper United by forcing us to play with 10 men at all times. The plan involves putting backup keeper Kuszczak at left back, and giving him some sort of weapon, possibly an Uzi. This will be incredibly effective. We've all seen him spray balls all over the pitch with the accuracy of a man three sheets to the wind wielding a fire hose. Can you imagine what he'd be like with a submachine gun? No one will want to get near him. Including our players, which is why we've got two right backs and no center-halves out there. Even Edwin is as far over to the right as he can be.

Now, being on the pitch with an armed and dangerous PIG...er, PILB, is a life-changing experience. It can prompt an existential crisis. Dimitar Berbatov, a smoker, will for the first time have to face up to his own mortality. Similarly, Nani, who suffers "a pequeno morte" so often on the pitch, will have his own demons to face. Is it any wonder that they're questioning the decisions that have led them to this point in their lives? OP brilliantly perceives this crossroads Berba and Nani find themselves at, and places a question mark by their names to indicate this.

Only thing very wrong about the OP was the use of the word "definite".

Other than that he has basically provided a list of players who have been linked away from and to United, all in the purpose of creating a discussion about our transfers this summer.

Nothing very wrong about that, and certainly not the worst thread on here.

We'll let out news that we're interested in every famous player on FM and get Man City to blow out loads of money on them while we secretly buy some unknown player on the cheap who's going to make the press look silly for saying we're on the down because we can't afford to blow XXX amount for *insert muppet favourite of the week*.

I'm guessing, completely wildly, that our net spend will probably be in the region of £20-£25m this summer.

I think we'll spend more than that, but we'll recoup a fair bit too.

Well I think Modric is a possibility, as may be Young, as rumoured.

I'm not convinced we won't buy anyone at the back either. I know Smalling has done brilliantly, to some extent unexpectedly so, but Rio's injury problems are undoubtedly at his age not going to be behind him, so i wonder whether or not we'll splash a few million on an experienced central defender. Perhaps Carvalho should Madrid be looking for another clear out following another poor season. I know he's not been there long but they may be interested in getting rid if the price was right. I'd not say no for £5m, even if he is 32.

I was actually wondering who you think we will sell to recoup some of the outlay, as except for Berbatov I don't think any of the players we have that are rumoured to be possible sales, will fetch a great deal.

Kind of rules out any more than one real marquis signing, We seem to be talking £20m on De Gea, £30-£40m for Modric/Sneijder and maybe another £10m on a younger player.

That's conservatively at least £50- £60m outlay, if of course we accept that those are indeed our targets. (Which for the record i am not sure i do).

Out of interest, let's hypothesise that they are, who would you consider most likely to be sold to recoup some of that significant outlay?

Oh, well Berbatov I think if we get £12m or over will go. Macheda, possibly £6m ish for him. We'll recoup money in terms of wages with Scholes retiring and I could see Wes Brown possibly going for £5m to somewhere like Sunderland or something.

Can't see Fergie asking a fee for Wes after all his service. If he goes he will probably go on a free.

i think we have a few players who would fetch a fair amount. If you want to speculate Berbatov will be at the top of the tree, £12m-£15m or there abouts. Macheda £6m-£8m, Brown £4m-£6m. Then you look at the likes of Cleverley who, despite rumours of his return, may find himself looking undoubtful to get much football next year, in which case the manager can probably get around £7m for him. Plus £3m for PIG, perhaps.

At top, completely made up, estimate, that's the best part of £40m and Berbatov is the only real 'fixture' that we'd be losing.

But as I've said before, I'm not convinced it will only be fringe players who will depart. If the manager wants to bring some major players in, I think room will have to be made, and you don't really do that by trimming the 'fat' (for want of a better term) around the edges.

Complete speculation on my part but we may be in for a bit of a more thorough spring clean than we think. Not a radical over haul but a couple of changes in pretty substantial furniture.

Depends on his contract situation though, doesn't it? I'm not too sure what that is at the moment to be honest.

Me neither. I just can't see Fergie hampering his chances of a last hurrah. He will be able to negotiate better wages with no fee involved, and considering his injury record and age any fee will just increase the risk factor for any interested parties.

I think we could get about that for Berbatov but I have my doubts he'll be sold, I think given Wes' age and injury problems we'll be looking at a smaller fee, same goes for Kiko given his slow rate of progression.

Anticipated the white text, but i was still goin to say don't tempt fate, i wouldn't put it past Madrid to try a stunt like that!! :nervous:
Yep, i figured the white text would of been figured out too easily :p

Real had better not make an offer. They probably will but im 100% sure fergie and even Chichorito will tell them to piss off. I couldnt see Chichorito ever leaving us to be honest.

While we are indulging in speculation, I get the feeling that we are not going to spend huge amounts and as you say we have some decent youngsters who would fetch a good price or could potentially be used as makeweights for targets especially in England.

Gibson, Obertan and De Laet could well leave, as could Brown, Macheda, Diouf and Bebe. Hargreaves will leave and Owen may leave for someone like King or Welbeck to be given a shout in his place next year.

It wouldn't surprise me either if Berba or Carrick were used to bring down the fee for Modric. I realise that these type of deals hardly ever happen but if we are signing a few players that command top wages it stands to reason that some reasonably high earners, especially the under performing players may have to make way.

This is my list of probable departures:

VDS, Scholes, Hargreaves, Owen, Brown, Kuszczak, Macheda.

Possible departures:

Gibson, De Laet, Obertan, Bebe, Diouf, Berba, Carrick

Don't want to scare anyone but 'Only God knows' what can happen to a player should Madrid come calling......................:)

Carrick's not going anywhere. He's a huge part of our success in Europe.

Never suggested he would be going, but merely speculating that if we are seriously after modric, i personally cannot see us spending the £35m Levy will undoubtedly demand.

We know Redknapp is an admirer of both Carrick and Berba, so it is not inconceivable that one may be used in any potential deal. Don't forget both Carrick and Berba are now 30, and both have seriously under performed for lengthy periods over the last 2 seasons too.

So neither of these 2 players are indispensable imo.

Didn't Carrick only sign a new contract this season? I'm 100% sure that he's going nowhere, especially with him now being a key part in our team, we don't have another player with the discipline and intelligence to sit in front of our back four and spray the ball around efficiently.

Why do we need to sell if they are 30/near 30. Look at Scholes, Giggs and VDS. They still kept going. Look at Arsenal without the experience heads.

I can see Diouf being sold for £2-3 million as well.
