Our Transfer Strategy This Summer

I think we're up for losing quite a few players this summer.

Below is the list of definites with a list of possibles in brackets.

Here is a list of who might be replacing them:-

My feelings are that whoever comes in has to be international standard or capable of reaching that very shortly - or great team players. Pogba undoubtedly has that - only question is he ready - I think he's ready for outings next season in the first team (not saying he'll be a regular starter!)

I have doubts about Cleverley establishing himself and Wellbeck undoubtedly has the talent, but will his knees be strong enough to allow him to train to maximise that talent?

Nani won't go. No way. A few games where he hasn't started and then it's been Giggs and/or Park. Giggs is 37, going on 38 and Park is 30. Nani's just almost 25 and one of the worlds best in his position. Selling him would be a big step backwards.

I don't think Nani is going anywhere. I can see us signing a midfielder and a winger. The other positions will be covered by players we already have.

Out of those "definites" only two have said they're going anywhere. So as far as I'm concerned this is complete transfer muppetry, unless of course you've stolen SAF's iPhone?

Nani? Ha ha, wtf.

Your post lost all credibility after that. But you no doubt enjoyed your chalkboards.

Absolutely did.

There was speculation about Nani going in part exchange with Scheijder I'm not saying he's going, but merely that it is possible. He's not holding down a first team place at the business end of the season when you really want to be involved.

I question your definition of the word "definite".

Couldn't you have just written down the names instead of making a pretty picture? Most people on here aren't 5 years old and need visual aides

For that reason, I'm oot

Unfortunate use of the word 'definite' there. Neville is the only definite. Even VdS we're not 100% sure of (although it is 99.99%)

Other than that, I can see us signing a new GK and a new MF, the de Rossi rumour is interesting.

I can't see us signing any more than 2 'headline' players.

It will be a quiet summer. A couple of people leaving and a couple - a goalkeeper and A.N.Other, probably a central midfielder coming in.

Hopefully we get it wrapped up quick and have them in for preseason.

Haha.

Nani is going absolutely nowhere.

And SAF will never make such a huge clear-out. The OP looks dramatic but it really isn't that way.

Hargreaves has not been there for ages. Berbatov won't go.

VDS, Scholes, PIG could be the only notable exits.

And a GK and a midfielder to come in.

Completely ignoring the muppetry, I think this will be a summer where most of our dealings will be announced early as per the Nani and Anderson deals.

That's what I've been thinking too, most of our business is likely to be done over the next 4 weeks. I'm actually a little surprised we haven't heard about one or two things already, considering the time of year the Smalling/Hernandez deals were finalised.

At least someone isn't doing the usual:

'Only a fringe player will leave, nobody in the first team will be moved on/get sold'

Ferguson has form for selling big players from time to time. Some may say, he's due one.

Ermmm, this isn't even muppetry, it's something new, strange and very very wrong.

But what counts as transfer muppetry around here then?

Saying we'll sign ANYONE?

"Bollocks, totally made up that (e.g ALL) transfer story. Muppet!"

Saying we'll sell ANYONE who isn't obviously disposable?

"Bollocks, totally made up that story. Never be sold. Muppet!"

....31st August:

"To be fair, you could tell he would go and we've got that replacement for him we've been linked to for ages. You could see both coming"

it's the transfer forum.

I'd like to thank all of you who cried "muppet!" for your input, stuff of genius.

Nani? Come off it.

Also, what is with the diagram, it looks weird.

I doubt very much that Pogba is going to be playing in our first team just yet

Who is Scheijder?

Lindergaard is already at OT, Neville has already gone

How you have come up with a list of DEFINATES, I will never know.

This is an awful thread, even for someone with 500 posts.

Onwards and upwards, tintedsepia.

Your spelling is truly atrocious. Kuszczak, Lindegaard, Sneijder and Welbeck all spelt wrong - it's not the hardest thing to look up. The diagrams are completely unnecessary and suggesting some of those players are 'definite' is also a little strange.

I agree with your Pogba comment though, he should get games next season, at least in the CC.

One thing I am certain of is that we'll buy a goalie. I don't think we'll get the creative midfielder so many of us want, even if Scholes retires. I do expect another worker added to midfield though, and maybe a young versatile forward.

Ideal Strategy: GK, two midfielders (one in the creative mould, one in a more destroyer mould).

I don't think we need to go for sanchez/young types since park, nani, valencia is a solid wing rotation, not to mention giggs CAN play there if required, as well as even fabio to deputize.

I'd rather spend good money on two midfielders.

Incoming: Stek, Sneijder, Rodwell.
