Our Rivals' squads next year - Manchester City (2016/2017)

The reason why I don't think that will be the team is that, with inverted fullbacks...that would be an incredibly narrow team. I think Silva will be he one to be shoved.

Yeah that's definitely a possibility, but I reckon that's the side Pep would hope to make his best. Depends on the opposition though, some games he'll want to stretch the pitch more than usual and play two wingers, others he'll want to dominate the ball more than anything else and keep Silva and de Bruyne in.

Crazy but I think he wants this on the ball.

Will it work? I doubt it but you never know

De Bruyne and David Silva are suffering in this formation. They look like nothing players.

This year title battle will be epic

Silva is adapting to a new role and doing ok I think. Not great but solid 5 outta 10. KDB is terrible this season. looks a yard behind the game, always trying wonder passes and overhitting them, whacking shots into the stands and I think if he doesn't improve, Silva takes no.10 with Gundogan taking the mc role when fit.

Our terrible defence looked ok today and we're slowly improving.

It will be a massive shame if Guardiola doesn't get the best out of De Bruyne in his time here.

I'm impressed by how little their CBs have had to do in their opening two PL. No idea what Stones did to be MOTM. He and Otamendi never got exposed.

Fernandinho should have been motm, easily our best player again. Of course Aguero for the 2 goals too.

I don't know if I just think this because I want it to happen, but I've got a feeling Pep and City will get found out as the season progresses

Once Gündogan, Kompany, Sane and Bravo join the team and they get more familiar with the system, they'll steamroll the league comfortably.

I backed them to win the league. Even that hey don't look fantastic, I've not seen angry to change my mind.
They have goals all over. And if Agueromstays fit, it will be difficult for us.

I do agree that they will win the league. But Kompany is a lost cause imo. Out of those players, only Gundogan and Bravo will improve them.
Gundogan is still out for some time and Bravo is a keeper. Think his impact will be limited.
I don't think Sane will start.

I think so too. Not basing it on this game at all, I thought they'd win it before the season started. They just have plenty more firepower and will probably edge it over us.

But we'll see what happens. I think the derby will be very telling.

I think this'll be the season where the head to heads against the contenders will count the most IMO. Both City and Utd look like they can pick up the majority of points on offer against the rest with little trouble, and much will depend on the head to heads.

I'm definitely looking forward to the first derby on September 10th though, will be an absolute cracker

Some of you need to relax, they've beaten Sunderland and a dreadful Stoke. Save the panicking until at least our derby game.

The system didn't win Bayern a Champions League so I wouldn't be so cocksure of City 'steamrolling' the League. Still favourites in my mind of course. Guardiola is a great coach but Messi was the difference maker in his best team, not Guardiola.

Difference between Pep and LVG. LVG overdoes possession in deep areas.

City'll definitely challenge, I don't think there's anything wrong in saying that, but honestly, that team looks like it'll take some time to get up to speed with Pep's tactics and while they won't necessarily be found wanting against the also rans, they will struggle for a while against a team who can play a deep defence and hit them quickly on the counter.

Silva and KDB look a shadow of themselves atm, which, if I was a City fan, I would be worried about because they are usually the difference makers in the big games more often than not.

Some of you guys are over estimating us. We'll get better but no one will steamroller the league. We'll be in the mix as will you guys and maybe one or two others. Judging early form, title is heading to Manchester though

Just think you guys have too much in attack for us. Both teams won't concede lot but City will score more.

I can see City and United battling it for the league this year.

Goddamn, I'm at my friends' wedding that day, will need to tack the score on livescore or something

Where are they at this time? I know Bravo deal is still not done, where are the rest now?

Gundogan is out till October. Sane is back after the international break. Kompany, forget about him. No return date.

Gundogan trained yesterday, should be on the bench for the derby with Sane. Kompany trained too, he'll be back after the derby. How long for is anyone's guess though.

AS I said, I highly doubt Pep will start Silva +KDB + Gundogan....

City will win the league, if pep can get the right players on his team. ATM, more than half the team still isn't a good fit for Pep.

And you've beaten Bournemouth and Southampton... What's the difference?

It's hard to get the best out of a player if you don't play him.
Well he played a few games and Mourinho would have seen him in practice. I just think that once he left Chelsea every one was saying "oh Mourinho never gave him a chance! He's really good, believe me!" Now, it looks like he isn't hitting great form with City and people are still saying "he'll be good, believe me!"
