We've played 21 games since the World Cup finished, winning 16, drawing 3 and losing 2. That's pretty good going.

The two losses have come against the leaders (when we faced them without our best player), and a bogey team who are pretty much out of every competition and playing what is literally their cup final of the season.

Our fixture list is gruelling (we've had a game every 3 days since the restart) and our squad isn't as large as some of the other teams around us.

Let's just all stay calm and trust the rebuild process.

EtH has done an incredible job taking this team from where it was post Rangnick to where it is now...and we have a trophy to boot.

The first season of his reign was never going to be a smooth ride. It was always going to be turbulent, but the overall trajectory is good, we're winning more games than any other season post Fergie, and we're still looking strong to add another trophy to the Carabao Cup. Our team is still a few signings away from being complete, but we are getting there.

It's a shit feeling to lose to Liverpool, especially by such a heavy scoreline, but I'm not as crestfallen as I was following the 5-0 and 4-0 from last season.

We were realistically never in for the title given the start we had, but a comfortable 3rd place finish would be excellent. If a trophy & top 4 was offered at the start of the season, I'm guessing most of us would have taken that. So let's just get behind the team and push them on in the competitions we're in.

Damn right.

Too many on here getting caught up thinking the quad was ever realistic and that Erik wasn’t performing miracles with this squad.

It was a freak performance and a freak result and, as long as we bounce back from it, we’ll be better for it in the long run.

People just need to calm the feck down a bit!

Its not the fact we lost 7-0 or the manner of the display, its the not knowing when you're beaten and falling on your sword and seeing out a 3 or 4-0 defeat, a group of the experienced heads killing the fecking game instead of persisting with whatever psycho rationale they had that told them to keep throwing men forward time and time again. It was an utter joke.

Understandably a game against Liverpool at Anfield is an all bets are off affair - form and standing go out the window. Defeats happen in those games.

I’m moreso annoyed about the absolute disgusting aberration that was the final score line. The players totally gave up.

Some things went against us, a few bounces that give them gift wrapped opportunities sure but otherwise they cut through us at absolute will. The players did not show once ounce of effort or concentration out there.

This wasn’t just dropping points at Anfield; which is annoying but nothing we haven’t experienced before and against form. This was a historical drubbing.

I don’t think we should sack Ten Hag, far from it he is doing amazingly. But this is a major test for him in how he handles the fallout of this result and how the team responds to it / him in the next few games. Thankfully the schedule is easier than the last couple of weeks.

We just held 7 against Liverpool. None of these feel good threads will do the trick, I'm afraid

Who said it ok, do you want blood?

It really does feel like. Boohoo, we lost 7-0. We can't go back in time and reverse it. We've been pretty good this year and have been awesome since the restart. Aside from a title challenge (which we've been teasing), what more do people want?

It will never be okay to lose to Liverpool, 1 0 or 7 0, but I agree with everything you said, people need to chill. The fixtures we have had have been insane. 21 games since World Cup, who is second?

The run has been fantastic. Got some kind(ish) fixtures coming up and the hardest fixture of the league season is over and done with.

Next two games will be us bouncing back provided the players don't let it get to them mentally.

I get a lot of fans right now bringing all these opinions, the so called 'bigger picture' which is fair. But right now it means nothing to me, losing 7-0 to liverpool is disgusting and it'll take awhile to get over it to be honest. The worst team you want to lose in that manner.

7-0 was a joke score line. Every shot basically went in for them but I’d agree our form has been superb and we’ve lost at 2 of the hardest away games. That doesn’t mean today was acceptable though, there are still to many players who go soft under pressure or lose their heads.

How many games have Pool played since the restart out of interest, will be good to know?

I honestly won’t even care about this is we can keep them out of the CL, let them brag about battering us at Anfield whilst plying Thurs night football.

Need to somehow get this disaster out of their heads which won’t be easy. We ain’t winning the league and our players aren’t the best in the league in any position. These toty threads look a bit silly after seeing us being brought back down to earth. We’ve made some progress this season but still a lot of work to do, clearly.

Move on to the next game. We’ve lost at the Emirates narrowly and one of the most freaky and uncharacteristic second half performances I’ve seen at Anfield. Games like that where all your best players turn in horrific performances and everything the opposition hit goes in is rare as feck.

Pfff, we don't need that positivity nonsense here. Doom and gloom until at least Thursday (most likely longer as we are losing that too). As far as I am concerned the season is over after today.

This is a good point actually - we've played all our games vs Arsenal, City and Liverpool.

Arsenal still have to play City and Liverpool away.
City still have Arsenal and Liverpool at home.
Liverpool have Arsenal at home and City away.

As long as we keep chugging away, those 3 teams will drop points which will hopefully consolidate our top 4 spot.

Everyone knows our form, we also now know we got smashed 7-0 by Liverpool.

we’ve got a trophy now, even if it’s a shit one, feck the others. our players are knackered and we need top four.

From a purely footballing perspective, we'll obviously survive. It's a setback in terms of points (and fecking GD ) but Spurs lost and Newcastle lost, so we top 4 is still fully in our hands. Plus it's the second loss since the world cup ended, as the OP states, so we've done well etc.

However, from a getting rinsed for the absolute foreseeable by my Liverpool supporting mates it's downright unacceptable. A 7-0 loss is a stain and completely undermines us a club. It's not something that can be easily forgotten and it's a lot worse than a 2-1 defeat playing badly. I still cannot fathom losing 7-0 to Liverpool in the manner that we did. We might as well have booted the ball into our own net seven times. fecking livid.

I'm greedy for more silverware.

How many remaining games are ones we could rest players and rotate? (In principle anyway...)
To be honest, the games are coming thick and fast and against teams that will be looking for our scalp. We're approaching the business end of the season after all so there's not a great deal of opportunity for rest.

You could maybe make a case for Real Betis in the Europa and Fulham in the FA Cup, but I'm hoping we'll just see a mix of first team and reserve squad for those games as opposed to our strongest 11 each time.

People need to stop with the hysteria.
Yes, we lost 7 fecking 0 to our biggest rivals. They'll laugh at us for some weeks, it's going to suck.
And that's where it'll also end.

People are acting as if they get 100's of messages a day on Whatsapp from City fans "Hahahahahaaaaaaaa we won 3-6 against you lot, and a couple of years ago there was also the 1-6, bahahaha...". It's history now, many things happened since these losses,
and you can be sure that people slated ETH (and Fergie) the same way they slate ETH right now across various threads.

Did any of you give stick to your Arse supporting friends after the 8-2 for more than a couple of weeks?
Did you tattoo it on their foreheads?
Who gives a flying feck about this result nowadays? A nice memory for us, a painful one for them, and nothing more.

Yes the losses are unbearable when they happen and for the next couple of days afterwards, but you move on.

We'll be inside the top 4 this season, we won a trophy, and there's every chance we could win another cup...
And Pool will win feck all this season, and won't necessarily even qualify for CL football.

After the City and Barca wins ETH was some sort of Messiah, now he's "not at Pep and Klopp's level".
Or maybe he's a really good coach who more often than not will deliver very good results, and sometimes really poor ones?

I’m greedy for silverware too but as we’re often reminded it’s a process.

The silverware doesn’t all need to be this season, get top four, get better players in through that champions league door then go for the better trophies next season.

I haven't seen anyone suggesting Ten Hag should be sacked or denying the progress we made throughout the season so I don't get the point of these threads.

We're still right to get pissed off at losing 7-0 to our biggest rivals in such humiliating way.

Both don't contradict each other.

If it motivates us to go on a run on wins then it's better than losing 1-0

Well yeah but these threads don't tell you to net get pissed off.
I'm also pissed off (more shocked and embarrassed), every member of this forum is likely to be that.

but some posters do go over the top and do deny the progress we made.
I saw 1 or 2 posters calling for ETH's head but wasn't sure they were serious.

1 or 2 posters among hundreds on this forum is basically nothing. I haven't seen anyone calling for Ten Hag's head personally which means whom you're talking about is a minority, a very small minority as well.

Does the 8-2 we gave Arsenal get talked about that often?
Does the 6-0 City won against Chelsea?
Or the 6-1 against us?

No.
The scousers are a different breed, until we do the same to them they'll never let us forget it

Imagine how much we would absolutely love and relish beating those lot 7-0.

please please please let it happen before I die

There's a thread on the main forum suggesting it's time to burst Ten Hag's bubble.
Yes those who call for his sacking are a tiny minority, but those who question him big time and somewhat doubting our progress (without calling for his sacking) are quite vocal tonight.

While today is quite special because 7-0 is a rare result...

the fact that they thrashed us 4-0 and 5-0 last season- you'd assume they also won't let us forget about these too, right?
How does it manifest itself? I've many scouse supporting friends and bar the odd dick-swinging contest, it hardly ever gets mentioned.
People (rightly) tend to focus on the last couple of results. Banter never lasts that long.

This our biggest ever PL defeat, trust me they will go on about just like they do with the EC/CL thing, City fans went on about their 5-1 at Maine Rd for a decade or so as well
