it would appear that he was seduced by the dark side unfortunately.

van der vaart will do the job nicely though.

;)

the dutch are very good at languages. he'll learn quickly enough. ;)

ironic that you lot have 3 frenchmen in your current starting line-up whereas we have only the 1 though eh?

Partly because of Houllier likes to spend the money on average french players and they speak french in Senegal aswell. Will be interesting to see if the ajax player will join you considering that you let ajax get litmanen for free. Doubt he would want to play such negative footy though, I wouldn't.

average french players? 4 in the current french under-21 squad and traore looking the business this season. cheyrou who's recently won his first couple of caps for france. 2 senegalise stars of the world cup.

or the past-it laurent blanc, the error-prone comedian barthez and the good-going-forward-but-ropey-in-defence silvestre. . .

French u21 is hardly world class or champions league standard. Means they have potential and might be good players one day when compared to world class players they're average.

Interesting that you use the french u21 and french team when claiming your players are great but somehow you fail to mention that two of the players you mentioned Barthez and Silvestre actually are regulars in the same team whereas your best one just won his second cap.

Walter Samuel, from Roma. fecking awesome defender. And van der Vaart. I reckon our transfer budget all depends on whether we keep Seba or not.

or perhaps more pertinently whether you can sell him.

all those who might have bought him off you for £20M or so are now skint.

Ronaldino would be the perfect signing and if all this stuff about him signing at crimbo would give us a boost in the run in but cant see it happening

why is it all of a sudden mexas is a world class player?

ive seen him play him play a few times in the french div but hes not played against anyone of note, but as soon as hes linked with us hes in the same class as rio it drives me crazy

I would happily enter into a swap deal for Samuel, who is worth at least 18 mill, and Seba probably would be happier in Italy, even if it meant he couldn't show his face in a Lazio pub again.

I don't think Ajax would sell him. He's an integral part of their future.

they're also skint though, raoul. . .they were perpared to sell chivu this summer only no bugger else had money to buy him (even madrid).

there's a time approaching where there will be half-a-dozen or so clubs in europe with any available funds to spend on transfers who'll be able to cherry-pick the best young players from all over. . .

he's coming good just as the english autumn is arriving when he'll not fancy it again. . .shame.

Unfortunately, I've seen prices in the press that have ranged between 12-20m for Van Der Vaart. Ajax wouldn't want to get rid of him and if they did, it would only be for an unusually high fee imo, which probably only a few clubs like United, Real etc would want to shell out on a player so young. The reason Chivu has yet to move is that he's been outspoken about his desire to play in Spain. I think that will happen within the next year, as he's ahead of VDV in his development.

Cisse would be my choice. Strong in the air and very physically competitive.

A lot of people have said Van Der Vaart but be honest how many people have seen him more than 3 or 4 times. Ajax need the money and have talked this player up a lot.

i watch him nearly every week on ducth tv, hes very good. the dutch see him as the successor to davids believe it or no. :)

Isnt Vieira's contract out this Summer? I guess he aint coming tho :D

Mexes has been linked with us since he was like 16-17 so I suppose we had no chance to rave about him.

I've been raving about him for ages. Like I said, wanted him more than Rio.

He's more intuitive and aware than Hofland is. Hofland is probably faster, but Mexes is younger and a better player which is a huge plus.

Didnt hear any rumours re Hofland over the Summer. Suprising. I remember only a few months back when many on here (including me) wanted him at OT. When is his contract up ? I take it he's keen to stay at PSV then.

He had a shit season and everyone lost their interest in him.

What I find startling is how some people, given a choice of one player, are choosing centre-midfielders and central-defenders. Is signing Rio and the rise of O’Shea not enough ? Is the fact that we have four CMs challenging for one spot not enough ? We need a Striker, but also a bit of cover for the wings – Duff gets my vote.

Before we go looking for a striker why not give one of our youngsters a chance, i've seen Webber play a couple of times and i've been very impressed. There's more than enough time before the end of the season. Any striker worth buying will be playing in Europe so sugning him in January would be pointless.
As for wingers, Duff would cost upwards of £20 million (Liverpool apparently offered £15mil. and had it refused)
Before anyone says he has a £15million buy out clause in his contract, How does anyone but Duff and Blackburn know exactly whats in his contract.

Webber is at Watford and Davies Swindon at least until Christmas. By the time they return we should have added another tool to our kit, whether it be Ronaldinho or whoever. There may or not be a 15m clause in Duff's contract, we wont know till the end of the season.
