One failed United player to play in this Amorim team?

You are not wrong, but the OP said players who failed at United, in my mind that meant anyone, or was it about players who failed at United but were actually good, someone like Mata or Pogba?
The way I read - players that failed but we think could still work this time around.

Mkhitaryan didn't work both for us and Arsenal, so I don't think he will be any good in a physical league like EPL at the age of 35. Just my opinion

Pogba didnt fail so he shouldnt be named. I would love him in this team though.
He was amazing if you ignore
1. Being extremely inconsistent
2. Being injured quite often
3. Him and his agent being extremely toxic and literally damaging the club for selfish reasons

Daniel James, Pellistri could play RWB. Fred would be very good in Midfield. Lukaku also.

Pogba and Di Maria are the obvious choices. If you count players any time of their career, obviously Schweinstiger, Falcao, or Sanchez.

Injury-free Bayern version of Owen Hargreaves a good shout too.

I was going to say this. Probably the perfect role for him. But he would need an overlapping wingback to be fully effective.
Would be awful, to weak and slow to press. Amorim's 10 need to be energetic. Being fair I dont think Mata would fit anywhere in today's top clubs you need a certain amount of physicallity to compete and he's build like a 13 year old.

Failed United player?
I think he probably was thru no fault of his own given where he asked to play, in his proper position he would have been way better

Like Amad whos' aslo built like a 13YO

1. He made PFA team of the year. You have to be quite good quite often to get into those.
2. Only during the later parts of his second period.
3. I suppose his agent didnt say many nice things about the club...

Pogba didnt fail. He just didnt become the midfielder that won the ball, dicated play from deep and also scored all in the same match. That was the impossible midfielder people expected him to be a be. He failed living up to that.

Pogba was actually less inconsistent that almost any of our other players during his first four years. It's just that the expectations were much higher on him than anyone else and he was held to a much higher standard. That's not to say he was consistent as of course he wasn't, but you'd be hard-pressed to name any players who were more consistent than him over those four years. His last two seasons were obviously a complete failure as injuries took their toll though.

Cavani. I’m having him as a flop on the basis he never seemed to be available and left too soon.

But prime Cavani would be the biggest improvement. High work rate, good finisher, decent hold up play.

He wouldn't be played.

Ofcourse he would have. There are 4 midfielders in Amorim his tactic. If one of those four midfield spots is taken by Ugarte to do the dirty work for Pogba, Prime Pogba would shine in any of the other 3 positions.

Definitely Pogba at the 10 on the left, that position would suit him well. Then again he was so injury prone...

Literally the opposite of how it works. Every midfielder runs and works hard, 0 passengers. He wouldn't play.

Mason Mount, failed so far but has a chance to redeem himself if he stays fit longer than 10 minutes

You could probably say the same for Radamel Falcao as well

He worked hard enough to be in Allegri and Conte midfields. You dont get in those without running. He was a vital part of a world cup winning midfield. Those midfields seemed to work and he worked hard enough for those midfields.

Prime Pogba would 100% be a star in this team.

Not every midfielder needs to run as much as prime Kante or current Ugarte does. Obviously you cant have a midfielder not running at all but certainly before the injuries Pogba was running and working hard enough.

It never amazes to shock me how downplayed Pogba his ability is on this forum. Just because he didnt live up to unrealistic expectation before he became a perma crock.

Playing for your national team or Italian team is nothing compared to the pl for pace and workload. They play far slow and are far less physical, they are not comparable.

In the pl everyone runs, everyone works hard. Only at united in recent years has anyone gotten away with it.

We'd be challenging for a CL spot if we had the Cavani we had (but fit).

I think it’s unfair to call Pogba a flop. He had some brilliant games. Not worth the money all in all though.

For me it’s either prime Falcao or Di Maria.

I'd take Martial back tomorrow and start him every week if he could stay healthly.

Which says more about our current strikers than it does about Martial
