Olympic Hockey Squads

 Must be said that I do find it quite fascinating that Slabber keeps posting in this thread under the impression that he is somehow funny. It's tragic in a way, young people should have better things to do than posting 65 000 times in a year.

Good thing for most of us though is that we are fortunate enough not to know him in real life, I somehow suspect it is a tragic view. Would recommend we let the kid have his fun, maybe even encourage him to keep posting in this thread, wouldn't want to ruin his day and have him jump of a bridge or something.

Do you actually think I've got 65,000 posts?

Cretin.

Canada were lucky the ref were on their side with north-american type of decisions. International tournement are not NHL type hockey :nono:

The refs controlled the game from the beginning, they broke the confidence of russian players when they went to the video for that famous goal. They should have given the goal or not go to the video. This incident was running on russian minds and it proved to be the turning point.

Canada are brainless lumberjacks...
we were playing under IIHF rules, International ice hockey federation in case you don't know.
Section 5 rule #501(c) 'the referee(s) shall have full authority and final decision in all matters of dispute, andnot subject to appeal, during the course of a game.' and rule #502(a) 'The referees shall have general supervision of the game and shall have full control of all game officlas and playersbefore, during and after the game on andoff the playing surface. In case of any dispute, the decision of the Referee shall be final. (IIHF rules). in that case, the referee called it a no goal, and game was allowed to play on. Live with it.
speaking about referees controlling the game? the russians should've more penalties than what they had last night, the referees let some of them go, that happened after they had the video review.
turning point? that was a 2-0 game, any team could've come and beat us if they hadn't get themselves into penalty troubles. Frustration was their problem.

the russians outshot the canadians 16-3 at one point, should've scored at least one with that many chances, but hey Pogge was the difference. the Russians D were terrible anyway.
At a point i was thinking the officals should let that goal stand, just to let them on the score sheet(or gain their confident whichever way you wanna say). In fact i know if the ref got the call from upstairs, the ref himself can call it a goal, but the thing is... Ref always has the last say.
so you want a change? back to international referees instead of NA's again?

I agree with the law but WHY DID THE REF GO TO THE PHONE AND TELL THE RUSSIANS THE GOAL WAS DENIED?????
This really stayed in the mind of the russians players and they could'nt play after that. The ref should just have shut his mouth.

yeh, but TSN showed the replay, so i guess somebody called upstairs and told them to have a look, then they told the referee about that, but the ref thought he shouldn't call that a goal in the middle of the game...who knows...

Was a nice game the Montreal one, enjoyed it. Seems like Calgary lost to Vancouver tonight, Sami Salo 2+1. Surprising that Kiprusoff let in 4 goals, but who cares about his form now that isn't going to play for us. Good to see Niitymaki for Philadelphia do well.

That said, the Canadian commentaros yesterday praised Kiprusoffs recent form. Kovalchuch seems to be in decent form, 2 goals tonight, crosby 0+2. Lehtonen in goal for Atlanta :)

I heard on the telly on thusday that it isnt actually 100% sure that he wont play in the olympics. -> Theres still hope !

They also said that it will be either Markkanen or Niittymäki who will replace him if he (kipru) wont play...

Comon Kipru get well!!

Hey, how about Rask and Pogge, eh? Very exciting future ahead in the goalie dept, especially with Mikael finally flourishing and Racine showing he's got the stuff during camp.

well... Currently...IMO Pogge is better than Rask. Rask is kind of weak in handling rebounces. But you're right, the future's bright, the future's blue and white:D Go Pogge & Rask!
I still think Aubin's better than Racine. But doubt we'll see them in the NHL lever with Pogge and Rask showing their stuff, and Telly will be the number one if Belfour retires.
We'll see Pogge with the Marlies this coming September. Rask might join in a year or 2 after him, maybe by then Pogge will be the #2 for the Maple Leafs!
Do you follow the Marlies as well? Just wondering...

Could be that Rask will get a better chance to develop during the coming years, i.e. being on the bench in the NHL doesn't exactly make you better whereas Rask will be a starter soon for Ilves in the finnish league and good experience that way. I'd put my money on Rask being better in a few years :) The new NHL is more European in way so I would say it is a bad idea to move over too early for Rask. Most of the other successful finnish keepers in the NHL all became big names here before they left, i.e.. Kiprusoff, Niittymaki, Lehtonen, even Lundqvist played in Sweden for a long time. Toivonen being the exception, he only played 20 games in the highest division.

Well, if I were still in Toronto, I'd probably have gone to their games, seeing as they've moved to Toronto now. I try to keep up-to-date, usually my source of information is www.tmlfans.ca, it's a very good website.

Who do you think are our best prospects? I think the best signing we made this summer is Paul Maurice. I really rate him very high and hope he's given the chance to take over from Quinny once he decides to leave the post.

errr.. some of my mates hate paul maurice, i kept asking them why and they couldn't think of a reason, they just hate him. I think he's doing a great job in developing the youngsters' skill. you can't expect the marlies to have ''excellent'' quality because we've got injuries problem in the Maple Leafs, players getting send up and down, oh, i don't know why David Ling left (do you know why?) cause i think it's a big loss to the marlies, he's second in team's point last year... just behind kyle wellwood right?
i think martin sagat is a good prospect, same with john pohl, ian white, of course, carlo colaiacovo. the only player i don't like on that team is jeremy williams...

I never realised you were gay, Richter.

All Swedes watch hockey just like the Brits watch cricket and rugby. I don't want to associate hockey with bigjet.

I don't watch rugby. It's also a gay sport.
