We want an Olympic Forum, to show a little support (and spirit) and to prepare for our own Games in 2012! It's a very legit reason!

I think we can all agree that an Olympic Forum would be a waste of space.
First of all, you can only speak for yourself (one person). You can agree with yourself but you say 'We all agree'.You think it's a waste of space, I beg to differ.
Second of all, since you do not have any interest in the Games (in discussing about the Games anyway), your opinion does not count!

The forum's topics need not appear in the recent threads listing on the homepage, and if people aren't interested in the Games then nobody is forcing anyone to enter the forum. They can walk on by.
The fact remains that that what goes on in China in the coming weeks will domiante both news and sport broadcasts, attract millions of viewers every day. And yet the Caf will act as if nothing at all is happening.

Just make a poll, that would sort out who actually cares. A sub forum within the 'Other Sport' forum wouldn't do any harm anyway. Apart from Baz winning.

I seriously do not understand the mentality of those on here who object the suggestion so vigorously!
If I am not interested in certain thing, I walk off. Unless they hate the Olympic Games with a passion, why waste time in objecting?? I suppose they are those people who hold no pride in having London hosting the Games in 4 years!

I personally will only be watching the football part of the Olympics which I expect will be discussed in the football forum.
I do however not really see a need for a Olympic forum on a site for football - not when there's already an "other sports" section, but I guess it all comes down to the potential interest and thus the activity in such forum - if it's only 5-10 people who wants to discuss it then it would be better suited in the Other Sports forum.
But like I said, I'm a neutral.

When there is a need for a General Chat Forum, an Entertainment Forum, etc etc... you do not see a need for a Forum for a Games which will involve the best athletes with the highest standard (breaking world records etc) in the world competing one and other going for the highest goals in the world!!!

I bet you have never taken an interest in watching (taking part in) sports other than football? Those sporting events are quite interesting to most of us you know!
Other Sports happen 365 days a year, whereas Olympic Games happens once in 4 years for a few weeks. It is special and deserve a special designated Forum!

Because some people are followers and do not have strong opinion about it... even they strongly desire it! :-) So we need to be a leader and lead, like those in the fashion designer field!
I do think that a poll like this will not truly represent democracy! :-) unless the neutral can vote 'Don't care' or 'maybe', and those objecting will have to give a reason (legit) for an objection!
