Ole's, and his coaches, aren't experienced enough to take us to that all important next level, so just move him on.
Why is firing him such a issue for the club ?

Chelsea sacked, arguably, a even bigger legend who was underperforming last season in Lampard quite smoothly, why can't we ?

I mean for a start it would rely on the board having a plan  ... which is really where this whole thing falls apart.

Do they need a plan right now though? Replace Ole with a competent caretaker that will actually coach the team and offer a tactical approach we massively lack and then spend the next six months planning for a permanent replacement.

No club plans for changing managers, so what makes the situation so difficult for Man United compared to Newcastle or Norwich etc? It’s absolutely crazy.

Nothing arguable, Lampard is by far their best player in their entire existence.

Ole wouldn't even be in our top 50.

I wouldn’t get wound up one way or the other. It’s clear the media knows sod all. Some say the club are considering sacking Solskjær but want a replacement lined up first, others say we haven’t even spoken to anyone.

It might happen, it might not. But it won’t be the daily mirror who breaks the news, I’m pretty sure of that.

Ole has gone back to Norway to visit family for a few days and the rest of the staff/players have been given time off. That tells me his future is still up in the air.

Well if they wanted to sound out a caretaker before sacking him that would involve some very basic forward planning... not very difficult/intricate planning, but you know, this is our board we're talking about

If they had a plan that was Step 1: Pick up Phone and Step 2: Call Mr. X - I imagine somewhere between Step 1 and Step 2 they would feck it up.

Tony Pulis is available or Neil Warnock. British managers are better suited to the Manchester United style. Not saying we should sack Ole but if we do, then those two should be top of our shortlist.

I think that tells us the opposite. If there was any doubts over his position he would still be in the area for crunch talks etc.

This now looks like the Sancho saga. And I mean the summer with so many big days and then we didn’t even get him.

I can’t imagine that he is being kept on due to what they are seeing on the pitch? We have barely improved in the last 3 years, we have no style, no identity, nothing. We look like we have no other idea than hoping someone shows some individual brilliance. That can only work for so long before you need to try something more sustainable, and Ole has reached his very low ceiling in that regard.

The board are a bunch of money grabbing people who only see Ole as a yes man who can luck his way into their goal of top 4. That’s their ambition and it has been so since Moyes took over. Anything more is a bonus.

If Ole is sacked, it won’t be because they believe he should be, it will be because of fan and media pressure. Once he wasn’t sacked after the Liverpool game, that confirmed the above.

Accept the reality boys, we are a circus run by a group of clowns. Ole and his coaches will stay for a foreseeable future because the board doesn't want to sanction the big payout for making a big group of people redundant and then hiring a new group. If that results in this season being a complete write off then so be it, as we know all businesses hate making definite losses for potential gain. They would rather this season being a complete disaster instead of having a balance sheet in red. Unless our key players try to force their way out thus them losing revenue, there is simply no way the board will be forced to make any decision. The fact that Ole survived a 5-0 defeat to our most bitter rivals means his position is invulnerable.

I have already mentally checked out of this season despite the highs after our first game of the season and Ronaldo's first game, because every single game since then we had been playing like absolute garbage. I wasn't even pissed off or sad when City toyed around with us few days ago, I was just watching the game with the complete acceptance of us being way out of their league and is actually expecting a massacre. The fact that our most bitter rivals took pity on us was amusing to say the least. Anyway, I am done with this season as I think I would be in a much better place mentally without having to watch or read any news about us.

This is no longer the club I know. We have discarded our identity as an elite club to be a business ran by bankers and the footballing side ran by our ex-players and their friends and family. Sentiments, good vibes, nice balance sheet, sponsorship deals, social media accounts are all that matters now, not the football, not the results, not the players.

There aren't even any rumors. At least with LVG the rumors about Mourinho getting the job were everywhere.

We are stuck with him.

No plan B after giving him a new contract in the summer, not possible to just fire him and give it to one of the coaches as caretaker as the whole coaching team has to go with him. I assume the board wants to fire him, but has no idea who to hire or leave as a caretaker as they are grossly incompetent.

All depressingly true. If nothing is done during the international break then we have further depths to plumb.

This whole situation is depressing enough to make you shave your head and rend your garment.

Hoof gone biblical!

"9 And, lo, the angel of the Board came upon them, and the glory of Joel shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of Manchester a Replacement, which is Ralf of Rangnick.
"

If they aren’t getting a replacement and he’s off for a week purely for a rest then I’m fecking angry.

I wouldn’t be able to put my feet up after the fecking disgrace we’ve served up against City and Liverpool.

What they need to do is get on the training pitch and fecking attempt to do their jobs at getting a tune out of these players.

The pressure on him is huge but in his shoes I wouldn’t be going on my holy bobs right now. Just looks shite, because it is.

Since he's staying the players getting a week off is better. They get worse with his tactics and the time they spend with his assistant coaches.

Loyalty always above what is best for the club

He's still that little boy indoctrinated into the cult of the manager by Fergie, he's also getting money for nothing as he won't even criticise Ole's tactical and coaching failings which is his job, which also makes him a hypocrite as this is the same motherfecker that along with Carragher, Sourness and Keane will character assassinate players when it suits them.

Players and staff not involved in international matches usually always get some extra time off.
What's unusual this time is it's a week instead of a long weekend. But still it's only a few extra days away.

We'd have 11 first team outfield players available this week. Jones as the only CB.

Wan-Bissaka, Jones, Telles, Van de Beek, Lingard, Matic, Amad, Mata, Martial, Greenwood, Sancho (+ Henderson, Heaton, Grant) are those who are not away on international duty or recovering from injury.

With everything that's been going on lately they probably assume that with the limited players available it would be a bigger benefit for the team as a whole to get some time away from Carrington for a mental reset. How much team tactics could they work on with the players available anyway? I doubt they are off on holidays partying, rather focusing on keeping fit with individual programs, spending time with family/friends. Then coming back for a fresh start next week, with every international duty player coming back on Wednesday (except Fred and Bailly), so they can work on team tactics.

You could argue that the coaching staff could work while the players are away (and I'm sure fitness coaches are checking in with the players to see that they are following their programs). But it's not like they throw out the entire playbook after a defeat. They follow their plans, with some adaptations. And this planning work could as easily be done over video conference these days. Some time away could help them come up with improved ideas better than just sitting in room together.

I think that tells us the opposite. If there was any doubts over his position he would still be in the area for crunch talks etc.

It’s still weird though. Even if his job is secure, surely he and the coaches would be working day and night to improve the situation rather than just up and leave for a week’s holiday like nothing has happened.

We're a laughing stock at the moment. Ole is the most clueless manager in the league and has been completely exposed as mediocre in the last weeks, yet he gets to go on holidays while the board keep his job warm waiting for his return. How much longer until our top players no longer want to be part of this shitshow? Getting embarrassed week after week yet the board won't make a change because they believe Ole will go from mediocre to elite overnight. We're leaving our best squad in ages in the hands of a mediocre manager, the rest of the league is delighted. We're almost finished as a top club thanks to the owners. Fourth is the new first.

I refuse to believe anything other than there being an agreement with Ole that, come the end of the season, he leaves and our chosen replacement (who we're in a difficult negotiation with) takes his place.

There's absolutely no way that Ole's performances are good enough, everyone can see that. But there will be this daft romantic notion that he can't be turfed out of the club unceremoniously, and without a proper successor being appointed. So we're either still trying to get this individual or they've agreed but only for the beginning of a new season.

I hope that's the case but the reality is probably that we're run by a bunch of fecking morons who only care about the bank balance, and sacking Ole would cost us shitloads.

Club and team in dire straights, third highest paid manager behind Guardiola and Klopp, in the PL on £200,00 a week (£10 million annually) and he goes of on a private flight to Norway.
Surely considering all that is going on he should still be here working with the coaching staff, and also players not called up for international duty.
This includes players like VDB and Sancho who were international players until he got his hands on them.
Who on earth is steering this ship, it beggars belief, you couldn't make it up.

I don’t even think it’s about bank balance anymore. I think it’s about pride, nepotism, and sheer ineptitude. Woodward won’t sack Ole because he’ll look even worse. SAF and co want Ole at the wheel because he’s one of them. And the Glazers have no idea what to do when the board is advising them so badly.

They will call up Chris Hemsworth and ask, "Hello Mr. Ragnarok. We heard you invented gemgempressing or something and are interested to be our interim manager? Welcome to the Disneyland!"

They weren't really good enough to give him the contract extension but the board did. Who knows what they're thinking...
