Let me get this right - he gets to go on holiday, with the team in the midst of a crisis and everybody and his dog saying he’s doing a crap job - whilst we get to go into work for the next 2 weeks to be subject to the banter of all and sundry because of our team’s awful attitude in the last month of football - sounds fair that, ole! Enjoy your break - have a drink on us, mate whilst you put your feet up….I was ‘ole out ‘ before but I suspect this is taking the urine just a little….

i know, right! i can’t believe he’s even slept since the liverpool game. and i better not hear that he’s been eating food either. all the while i’ve been having to put up with being called “0-5 & 0-2 boy,” as well as “the smallest i’ve ever been with,” and introduced as “the least favourite son,” at a family gathering.

i don’t know how he can sleep at night. we all agree he’s out of his depth but he should be sleeping at the training ground until woodward old yellers him in the car park.

Are you just going to ignore the rest of my post? The best foreign managers have all come in without premier league experience. Before Klopp and Tuchel which German managers had done well at premier league clubs? In fact apart from in the Bundesliga how many German managers have managed the biggest clubs apart from Heynckes in 90s and Lattek in the 80s.

Before Wenger which manager had come from the Japanese league and done well? Before Jose had any Portuguese managers come straight from Portugal and done well?

Ten Hag has performed well in the CL whereas Rodgers absolutely flopped in the CL. The nationality of our coach shouldn’t matter, the quality of their football and how well their philosophy fits with our squad and club as a whole does.
I stand corrected. You are absolutely right.

Would you guys be actually happy with a caretaker. Like dont get me wrong I also want Ole gone. But if we get a caretaker in we also write of the season I think.

What would the expectations be in the caf when we get an interim?

I'd be skeptical of that. We're not the classiest club but I'd think they'd have the decency to let him know in person that he's gone, rather than pretending he's safe and letting him go away with his family to sack him over a phone call.

I don't get this tbh. I much rather getting sacked over the phone, it's awkward as feck in person.

i mean even if things were already scheduled sometimes the timing becomes very bad to take a vacation. Just like when people were ticked that moyes took his vacay after he joined united if i remember correctly.

Sir Alex to the rescue for 7 months? One last final swan song with Ronaldo?
Can you ever think of anything else than Ronaldo? This is United and not Ronaldo FC.
Why the hell should SAF in his age and with health issues in recent years return to such a high pressure and more than full time job?

Loses 0-5 to Liverpool at home, proceeds to hand out autographs.
Has more shots at his own goal against City, decides to go on a nice holiday

Anyone who even thinks SAF should take a second out of his day to think about managing ever again is insane. I would rather keep Ole for 2 more full seasons than that. Let him enjoy retirement and keep his legacy 100% in tact.

I could be wrong. The whole situation makes no sense either way.
Unless I'm rememberimg incorrectly, didn't Moyes find out he was getting sacked via the media? Compared to that I'd say being told over the phone is an improvement.

I just think Sir Alex may be more interested this time round than any previous time because he'd get to work with his greatest ever player again (his words, not mine).

And United shouldn't be Ole FC either.

I don't get what the issue is if this is true. Long term plan for Ten Haag or Poch is all fine - with that in mind you find a coach who has a broadly similar style and will put some fundamental in place for the remainder of the season. Give them this international break to get setup and running and if they do well, they stay, if not you bring in your 1st choice in the summer.

Somebody like Rangnick makes sense to me. Especially if we have the capacity to move him upstairs in the summer. Some journos are suggesting that's exactly what he would like to come and do and that he has connections within the club already. It sounds like we've got at least one option better than sticking with Ole, that the fans could get behind. So there's no reason for Ole to see the Watford game.

I like Rangnick, the problem is I don't see Murtough or Fletcher stepping aside anytime soon.

I don't know our structure, but there may be a way for them to work together. I don't know. The other obvious question is whether they are both suitable for the job and better than Rangnick.
They both are no where near suitable compared to Rangnick, but they do have United pyjamas so our board will stick with them.

Murtough wouldnt be DOF at any other club. Fletcher might be a nice guy, but he also has zero credentials.

We cannot be nepotistic anymore. Give the best man the job. Its about time we have competent professionals in charge.

The players don't want to play for him.

This should be a wrap if the board have half a brain. The rebound with a good new manager would be incredible.

This reminds me, when Fletcher was first hired at the club as a first team coach, people here were treating this news as if it was a brilliant masterclass appointment by the club, as if we have hired Guardiole to be part of the coaching team.

Everything about this club is run based on nepotism and sentimentality, not actual planning or strategy, and they know the fans will swallow this shit because of nostalgia.

I completely agree with you and @pocco, Unfortunately we're struggling to change the manager never mind the whole Hierarchy. Being realistic, with our current owners it's never going to happen.

We have to hope for a manager in the mould of Klopp/Fergie that can work with our incompetent board and hierarchy and still get results on the pitch.

I’d happily let my dog take over for the remainder of the season, and that shows you bad it is as I don’t even have a dog.

I think we have a better chance of salvaging the season with a caretaker because the caretaker might actually attempt to play a more proactive brand of football and make better use of the squad. A league challenge is over and our only hope is the Cup competitions.

Purely as a fan, If it was 5 games at the end of the season, I would absolutely love a Sir Alex last dance for a month.

Not for half the season of course

Unfortunately, it is just as chaotic at Old Trafford as one might fear. The spark in the team is gone, to put it nicely. The situation is assessed continuously, but there is nothing to indicate that Solskjær is not leading the team against Watford.

Imagine being in a tough place mentally and then going to Norway in fecking November for leisure. His mood is gonna be even worse when he returns to England

Oh man, I guarantee you’d get a lot more leisure from viewing the mountains and ocean meeting in Molde relative to the boring country gardens outside Manchester, beautiful place. And not to be compared to the darkness in the north of Norway, which is almost as far from Molde as Manchester is from Molde..

Also, it would hopefully provide some new motivation within the players who seemed to have lost their trust in Ole.

Rangnick would be a great choice

As I feared he’s not going to be sacked. Both he and the club are delusional. Write off the next few seasons - this will have a snowball effect.

Problem is we will continue to get pasted by half decent teams whoever is in charge until we put in an emergency DM or two in January. A new manager has limited power power to change that. We have no options beyond McFred. Whoever comes in will have the Xmas programme from hell.

So better to sack him after they beat us and we're off 12+ points from the top before December than now when they've got 2 weeks to plan a transition and there's still room to salvage the season, makes perfect sense.

Would expect nothing less from this club

Pretty much unfortunately yes.

The seasons already a write off if hes kept on, so a caretaker manager can either be the same, or maybe improve us even slightly so we scrape top 4. Would sooner chance a caretaker manager coming in.

It's really very bizarre at this point. All the news, is bleak in regards to the mess our team is in; no system, no plan etc etc. But then also reports that players gave no confidence in the manager and don't believe he's good enough. Yet despite all this the club still back him? It doesn't make sense on any level.

We didn't get pasted with Ole at the helm two years ago. It's not ideal, but it's also not hopeless.

That Rio video...

Ole is actually going isn't he. Given how Rio has defended him after every game and now this...he knows something. He's setting the narrative for the sentiment when the news hits. The club have sent Ole away to avoid the fallout.

Tell me I'm talking rubbish!

Well remember how confident he was about the Ronny signing so maybe he does know something

A caretaker means the board are properly looking at options for next season.

Ole until the end of the season means there's a chance (a fecking massive chance) that the board keep him on next season if he achieves the absolute bear minimum of top four.

Beside from that, an interim massively increases the chances of finishing top four. Increases the chances of making the CL knockouts, and then giving a good showing in the knockouts. Massively increases the chances of doing well in and maybe winning the FA cup.

Just means that we’re being tight lipped. We didn’t let slip that LvG or Jose were being sacked. For all Woodward’s transgressions, he learned from his mistake when Moyes’ imminent sacking got leaked.

Fletcher's role as technical director is reported to be of someone who communicates and sells the project to prospective new recruits at first team level. It's a similar role to Sebastian Kehl at BvB, who is being groomed to take over from Michael Zorc as the DoF. And from the digging I've done on Kehl, he had no experience in such a role if the caf criteria is applied.

Fletcher's role at the club is fine IMO, unless someone can provide evidence of how he's not cut out for a job which isn't difficult at all IMO.

Exactly. Shows how much some people on here will clutch at anything with a past here...because its the Utd way!

To be fair I think a big part of that is down to his illness and people still feeling a bit gutted it ruined his playing career.

Compare the reactions of him being in a club role to the reactions to Carrick, then and now, and I bet there'd be quite a big difference.
