There are some PSG fans in another forum I post in and they absolutely hate him. Not sure why, they seem to be running away with the league and are in a good spot in a tough-ish CL group.
Because he is performing as the better version of Ole - winning by pure individual quality, zero tactics, cohesion or organization. And since we're identical to PSG when it comes to the team, it'd be utter stupidity to go for Poch. That'll be like getting Ole 2.0 (in terms of style, not abilities. I know Poch is a far better coach).

I think Poch hasn't managed to get a tune out of the squad yet, despite being there for nearly a year. They've been scraping past most teams with late/last minute goals, in fact I think their only real convincing victory was a 4-0 win against a newly promoted side. Even the win over City was undeserved.

So yhe fans aren't happy about this despite signing so many world class players plus I don't think he knows how to get the best out of a clearly uninterested Messi.

I could be wrong but I'm thinking they've got their targets in mind and those targets won't be available until the end of the season. So maybe they're thinking to allow Ole until the end of the season but on the condition he delivers a level of consistency which should be expected of this squad. And if things don't improve v Atalanta or City then the interim option will become a real possibility.

I’m thinking similar. They don’t have a nailed on top unanimous choice that is available right now, so they are giving Ole just enough rope to show he can quickly get this side looking like qualifying from their CL group and showing some level of consistency in the league.

I think they’d desperately like to wait until the Summer to change manager with everything then agreed long in advance and targets etc agreed upon and in place, I think as of now, the only thing that would save Ole beyond this season is a league challenging run from now to May.

If things go to shit v Atalanta/City, no chance are they wasting a season like some think, and certainly not with Ronaldo in the side. I think then the likelihood of a non-unanimous coach comes into play, and Conte would likely be the man they turn to on a 2-3 yr deal.

After seeing Poch's predictably dull exploits at PSG, anyone still clamouring for him to come here are just a bit odd in my view.

Seems like he has some high profile fans at the club, including SAF if the reports are to be believed.

I don't think they want to change him full stop. If he manages to get top 4 this season then he'll be here for the season after that too.

If the long term target is not available during the season then sticking with Ole until the end of the season makes sense, as long as he doesn’t fall too far off of the top 4 race. However the main concern is imagine if he gets top 4 and the pundits & journos start talking about more time.. will they have the balls to let him go.

So let's say we win those games and then proceed to lose the next 3? What happens then? Another "let's just wait and see what happens in these next 3 games"? What's the point of this excercise? It's just a roller-coaster of mediocrity. This is why I absolutely hate these types of ultimatums. You either sack him or you don't.
Agreed.

It’s the acceptance of mediocracy that is so maddening. I genuinely believe top 4 is now considered by some a successful season and celebrated as such. Anyone wanting more than top 4 are considered ‘entitled’ (favourite word of the Ole inners).

Please sack him.

They won't and his mates in the media will have us believing that if we pay £100m for Rice then we will win the treble. It's just so predictable.

To be fair, i also think the people running the club sem to be happy enough with Top 4.
We certainly dont seem to have that drive to be the best we used to have as a club when SAF was here.

It was obviously only SAF that had it. It’s clear the club doesn’t even know what it means to be a top club.

Agreed they do seem happy …top 4 guarantees the extra revenue they so love.

I don’t think Liverpool’s owners do either. They’ve just managed to get the right coach at the right time. It’s all trial and error and it was inevitable for us after Ferguson retired. If only we had a board who were driven like City’s to be the best.

Can see that happening and glazers caving. That’s why we need a proper footballing DoF who isn’t blinded by previous loyalties to United.

That way he can judge impartially and only on on the field progress not just results before deciding.

Like I’ve said, I’d very quickly call for Ole to get more time even if we finish 6th if I saw us start playing progressive football that was clearly improving and showed signs of us becoming a well drilled and tactically efficient attacking team, and Ole started reacting quicker to things during the match. Whereas if we finished 2nd and still did it with no cohesion and relying on moments or errors etc I would still want ole out.

Read the bullet point plan they released when they took over. Clearing debt and then winning titles and CL’s was basically what they wanted to achieve

I think the media and some of our ex players would likely say he requires more time. But from my understanding of this club, they're gonna relieve him of his duties regardless of what Neville and co say. I mean it's reported that Solskjaer was brought in two months before Mourinho was sacked, who they had housed up somewhere in preparation for a inevitable sacking. Van Gaal was also kept on when reports were saying we'd struck a deal with Mourinho.

But having said that, a lot depends on what will happen in our next two games. If Solskjaer does get a couple of wins, then the narrative changes, if not, then he'll likely be gone after a loss to City.

I hope we give him five whole years to try. Two years have gone. It’s the middle of the five-year tenure now. Don’t write him off so early.

Why are we ‘desperate’ to make it to the summer? The season has barely begun, Liverpool and City have dropped points already. Strike whilst the iron is hot and not waste an entire season. Especially when your two best strikers are 36 and 34 respectively

Club obsessed with the long term is now living game-to-game. Ole went from interim, to “this is a long term project”, to now effectively being an interim manager again, waiting to be replaced next time we lose a game.

It’s hilarious.
It’s also draining because now, every game feels like a cup final. Not a cup final for United, but a cup final for Ole.

Ever since the club publicly briefed that he has “three games to save his job”, it stopped being about United, and almost became about “will Ole keep his job”. You’ve got some of our own fans who want us to lose because of this.

They should have just let him go in a nice way for everyone involved.

Are they guaranteed to make top 4 if they keep Ole? That’s what they should be asking themselves. Because right now, despite the Tottenham win, top 4 is anything but guaranteed.

"Upgrade" means they already know he's not good enough, but they're still desperate for him to continue. Hilarious.
Who is “they” David Ornstein? Some of the responses to tweets on here seem a little bit out there. Or maybe it’s just pisstake season on Ole?

Agreed top 4 is definitely not guaranteed …I’ve no idea what they are really thinking.

The decision is already made. At least it is on Conte.

If we wanted him he'd already be manager.

Well we know Ole isn't good enough.

Conte is and Ole is now playing his formation so is strange to stick with an inferior manager.

If we have someone else lined up to takeover then that's ok but we can't have a situation where we keep Ole for too much longer

He'll make it to the summer and everyone here will have a mini seizure.

I think the state of the Caf at that time would amuse me more than Ole actually getting sacked.

Except we won't sign Rice, we'll find a way to genetically clone Kroos and Kante, sign both of them. But that won't be good enough for poor old Gary Neville. His buddy would need something else.

Why settle at just five years? Give him ten years. feck it, give him twenty! Give him the keys to the City of Manchester as well while you’re at it.

Why oh why are some fans so happy to accept mediocrity?

We will become the new Newcastle, won't win a trophy for 60+ years while Newcastle will go in the old United DNA way and win multiple trophies in the next 5-10 years

Why are we so willing to throw away the whole season? Absurd.

You have to question the source, though.

"The club are considering sacking Ole, but are desperate to make it to the summer at least". How's that for contradictory? Doesn't even make sense. Sounds more like David Ornstein's opinion than anything fact-related.

Never ceases to amaze how quickly people read a tweet from a random journo and automatically assume it's the undeniable truth.

No way Ole will get sacked till late in the season or later.

You know he bought Ronaldo to save himself. And Varane. And Sancho just in case people say he needs to spend on youngsters.

I've been Ole out since May 19 but I'm now resigned to the fact he will be here for this season at least. All Ole needs is top 4 only and with a squad as good as ours, it is harder to not get it than to actually achieve it.

We could lose to City on weekend and he'll be fine, I don't even think us fecking the CL group would cost him his job either.
