Did McCarrick extend?

I have some sympathy for those two. They are having to run the show whilst Ole and Shorts seemingly do sod all.
How can you have sympathy for them? They're paid to do a job, which they've done poorly under two different managerial tenures now, there shouldn't be any sympathy if they're sacked.

What's people's aversion to Rodgers? Is it his personality or his coaching? I'm kind of ambivalent towards the possibility of him being here, to be honest. Can't say I'd be that enthused, but I do think he's a good manager.
Personality is one thing, he comes across as an absolute bellend. I could not take to a manager with Liverpool connections. And yes I know Matt Busby, I wasn't around then and it was different times. I also think Rodgers will be just another nearly man. He never got the job done at Liverpool and he's constantly blown good positions with Leicester too.

Blanc has been managing in Qatar for a year now. He hasn't managed a single European team ever since he left PSG in 2016. Don't think that will be a good choice at all unless he's just for few months. Knowing us though we might end up hiring him permanently if he wins his first few games so yeah better to try and sign a permanent manager from now to not repeat history.

If we need a caretaker who better? The fact that he’s in Qatar is why he’d be a possibility but this time a deal should already be done with our number one target so the caretaker knows 100% it’s temporary.

We should be going for Ten Haag, Marco Rose, Luis Enrique or Roberto Mancini...you know actual managers who know tactics

Doesnt command Respect. Ronaldo, Pogba, Varane . Imagine this guy coming with an envelope? We need a big personality. Zidane or Conte.

I mean't British :wenger:
Ok then ;)

Btw why the hell there's basically no great British manager atm. The best we can have is Rodgers the Bottler and Southgate the Nord. You have arguably the best league in the world.

Spain, Germany have so many. France has Zidane. Italy has Conte, Mancini.

We'll probably end up with Carrick as our new caretaker while we're looking for options.

Yeah, the Leicester thing is interesting. He has blown 4th spot twice now. But I suppose you could be charitable and say they weren't expected to be in that position in the first place and are overachieving anyway. Maybe.

You know he lived in Paris for 2 years as a player too. He knew what he was going to in that sense so I doubt that is true.
Yh I know he played for them, as said, never seen it covered by a reputable source but we have no idea what his wife or he is thinking.

Yeah, I mean that was bad. I think he's kind of moved away from that whole charade though, hasn't he? He's had a little bit of a personality transplant. A little bit. He still comes out with some clangers. But yeah, maybe the respect wouldn't be there. But you can earn that I guess.

Based on what?
Based on the years he's spent in English football with 1 FA cup trophy to show for it, not to mention his lacklustre European form and even more unimpressive end of season form. He's even less appealling when you have an unemployed 3-time CL winner and a serial league title specialist knocking about.

Many ITK's on Twitter are saying he's gone, to be taken with a pinch of salt but they're still putting their credibility on the line.

When has that ever stopped ITK twitter gobshites talking nonsense. They just parrot the one main gobshite guessing because of the all the smoke.

But will his replacement be permitted to sort out the structural mess? Or will it just be the same dysfunctionality with a new front man?

The dysfunction is here to stay as long as the glazers are, so the manager will have to be content with 400m to build a side

Looks like it is done. By Tomorrow afternoon latest we should get the announcement.

How about when we lost 6-1 to City?
Ole has two of 10 worst defeats in the history of the club. Fergie has one. Fergie was here for 27 years, Ole has been here for 3 years. Fact of the matter is Ole has given it a fair go and he has come short every time it mattered. It's time.

Personality is a big issue for me. He's a bit of a twat and some of the stuff he comes out with in interviews is a bit self-aggrandizing and makes me cringe. All that lark about tea and toast at 4am to come up with the genius idea of going three at the back is pure David Brent.

Also he's ex Liverpool but the main thing is I don't think he has what it takes to win a title.

Who doesn't want to manage us.

When has there been this much smoke without fire? Generally never.

He does. He was just pretty unlucky in the end with Liverpool. Gerrard etc

Nearly 6pm and no news of him being sacked. Thought hear something by now.

I can't see it's happening this week.

It's rare that anything at United happens quickly. If they are having talks about the future then they're probably only now deciding to see who's available if they were to sack him.

Cant believe im reading this from a City fan.

I've backed Ole for a long time, and while you do write some sense, it seems hes lost the dressing room completely and there is simply no coming back from that. Also, we wont finish top 4 if we keep this up. Hell, we'd be lucky to qualify for the Conference league at this point

We’re 9 games in with 29 left to play, so there’s time enough for Ole to get you ticking again but I recon that any top manager coming in would demand structural changes and a pot of spending money to make it into a project that they feel they’ll be able to enhance their reputation with.
That’s why I think an observers role, followed by the managers role at the end of this season, would a good move.
Your new brush will want to sweep clean but there’s no sweeping to be done until the summer window.
I think maybe 3 or 4 out (DeGea, Ronaldo, Pogba and Matic?) + say 2 midfield grafters brought in to run hard all game every game, and a sweeper keeper, so that you can modernise your style of play.

Your new manager will bring his own coaching staff and in a top quality and proven director of football (rather than someone’s old mate) goes without saying.

The first half ended 1-0, and it was 3-1 until the last few minutes when we conceded 3 late goals. Not to mention we played most of the second half with ten men and conceded 5 goals after that red.

Meanwhile we were losing 4-0 at half time against Liverpool and it was 5-0 before Pogba got sent off.

There's no contest. This 5-0 loss is the most humiliating defeat I have seen for United in recent time. Liverpool fans chanting Ole name and fans leaving the stadium at half time were embarrassing scenes.

It's actually unbelievable that they don't have backup plans and are scrambling now.

I thought the management practices improved since Ole came in but doesn't look like it. How do you run a football club and not have a simple situation analysis thing going?

Ole does well do X.
Ole does average / top four do Y.
Ole is horrible do Z.

Until last week the statements were that the club was backing him fully. One bad loss against Pool and it's panic stations everywhere.

Yeah, I get the personality thing. He does come out with some clangers. Although as I said in my reply to someone else, I think he's toned that down a little bit. I do rate him as a manager though.
