Much happier to have them in charge. They love the club and will be respectful towards everyone associated with it. It feels like a dark cloud has been lifted off United.
A big gamble. Should have gone all out and got a permanent manager.
Yes, pretty much this. There are many better managers around however i doubt they would accept an interim role. Ole is available, he has more managerial experience then most of united's former players and in phelan he will find an experienced no 2 who will help him bridge the experience he needs to do well in the EPL
Mike Phelan - interesting. Maybe it’ll turn out he was the true mastermind of our success in Fergie’s latter years!
Good to see two people who know the club well taking charge.
There is no rush.A big gamble. Should have gone all out and got a permanent manager.

Fellaini has proven that he can play in a team that plays good football. Did with Van Gaal for a while. The problem is that desperate managers resort to using him as a route one. While I’m a bit worried the first thing that will get me allot more confident is when I don’t see fellaini young and matic in this team. If he gets pogba, Herrera, Fred and perrera has the foundations for our engine room from now until the end of the season, well I be pretty happy right there. If ole wants us playing positive football, matic young and fellaini are the three esp who cannot be starting games, those players for me are the face of the Jose Mourinho backbone that sunk us
I got teary eyes just thinking these two will be back in the Club again.
This will take some time it seems that Mourinho has managed to mould the club in his imagine.Jose left, the moaning stayed it seems.
At the very least, this is an indication that the club and board are aware of a "United" style, heritage and image.
The absence of this has easily been the most depressing thing about the past 4-5 seasons. Winning and sustained success is synonymous with the club, but we're a fair way from achieving that currently. The building of this starts with going back to basics and remembering a bit about this incredible club. I firmly believe that Ole is the beginning of doing just that. He may not "achieve" anything significant this season, but there's going to be a lot to enjoy about his time here.
For those casting doubts and suggesting this is an overly romantic move by the club, remember we are a club that is romantic. Be it absolute success or genuine heartbreak, we are built on both. There aren't many clubs like us in the world - and our history, style and success should lay the foundations for our future.
He started doing that since the Summer. So it will be nothing new.I'm sure Jose will release a few bullets of his own in that regard in time
I think Jose has other things to worry about.....I'm sure Jose will release a few bullets of his own in that regard in time
He is not going to do any clear-outs. That will be the business of the permanent manager. He will be here to ensure he can get the best possible results for the current season, no more no less is his job.
That being said, I would be happy if he ostracized Valencia, Jones and Lingard from the XI and subs. We don't need any of them. McTominay should go on loan ASAP, I reckon a Championship club would take him and eventually buy him in a year or two. Young should be shipped out, but currently we have no back-up for Shaw at LB and so he still needs to play a role for now; we cannot completely drop him.
As for Smalling, he is a good squad player and can stay for 1 more year till Bailly and Lindelof develop, and if we buy a world class CB.
There is no rush.
I like the fact that we are taking our time bringing in the new guy. We need to do more than change the manager, and this will give us the time to do that. Hopefully hiring a competent a DOF who can deal with sorting out the contracts issues with some of our better players.
I think Ole will only be here for 6 months, and we will lose some and win some. But it will lift the toxic cloud that has engulfed this club over the last year or so.

No reason to write anything off, top 4 to play for, FA cup and CL still up for grabs. The club can utilize the written off season very nicely.
Prepare for next season!

The team won't magically start playing well.No reason to write anything off, top 4 to play for, FA cup and CL still up for grabs.
4th place is long gone. The best we can hope is to play some decent football and so prepare for the next season. UCL can always happen (see Chelsea with Di Matteo) but that isn't something we should aim for. If it happens it is great, but chances are extremely low anyway. They still think we’d get 4th. Which is virtually impossible as we need Chelsea to lose 3 games and draw 2 as well as get a better goal difference. Then hope Arsenal go on a similar run too. PSG in champions league will be tough. We don’t have much to play for besides FA Cup. Club left it too late to sack Jose.
