Not sure about this I'm not gonna lie, but it'll be interesting to see how the players respond and at the very least it'll be great to see Ole back at United.

The kind of appointment that should have been made when Moyes came in. We wanted continuity and stability, so we brought in Moyes who promptly got rid of all the institutional experience in the backroom staff.
I don't know why people are unhappy. This is as good an interim manager as it can get. It is super important to have as much time as needed to appoint the new permanent manager, and we shouldn't be in hurry to do so. People are unhappy just for the sake of being unhappy.
Hope this works out well. Should be more fun to watch us at least.
It's great that Ole is in charge and all but I'm also strangely happy that Phelan is back. I don't even know why.
Can't help myself but Ole-McKenna-Phelan-Carrick is a group I quite trust. We'll be fine and exciting again.

There are many better managers around however i doubt they would accept an interim role. Ole is available, he has more managerial experience then most of united's former players and in phelan he will find an experienced no 2 who will help him bridge the experience he needs to do well in the EPL

In fairness to the big lug, he seems like he does try to improve all the time, it might not work but he tries. Solksjaer had a similar mentality, he was always taking notes and trying to improve, so you never know could be good for him.
I mean, there are not many people who can come in, or who would be willing to come in knowing they won't be here in the summer? Least Ole has managerial, club and premier league experience. He's also being backed up by staff already here and Mike Phelen who is also highly experienced at the club.
The clubs doing the right thing, need to take time getting a DoF on board and then take time getting the right manager. I suspect we already have one lined up, just one that won't come in January!
I can see people's complaints about him as our interim, but I look around and can't see much other choice? maybe Blanc? but he's not managed for 3 seasons.

Remember he could not save Cardiff from relegation ,in fact things worsened when he took over. Great see Ole for nostalgia reasons, but you get the feeling this is just a PR offensive.

We need someone to steady the ship for 5 months, I think it’s a good appointment. Ole and Phelan know the club, if they can bring a smile back to the lads faces and play some attacking football I think everybody involved will be happy.

Proper mixed feelings. It's great to see him back at the club and at least until Cardiff i thought he was going to be a top manager, but i worry if the players will respect him enough. He's not done a huge amount in management and most of the players are too young/foreign to really know what he means to the club.
One thing is for sure, he will have the fans behind him. I can see Ferguson getting more involved too with him and Phelan back in the club.

At the very least, this is an indication that the club and board are aware of a "United" style, heritage and image.
The absence of this has easily been the most depressing thing about the past 4-5 seasons. Winning and sustained success is synonymous with the club, but we're a fair way from achieving that currently. The building of this starts with going back to basics and remembering a bit about this incredible club. I firmly believe that Ole is the beginning of doing just that. He may not "achieve" anything significant this season, but there's going to be a lot to enjoy about his time here.
For those casting doubts and suggesting this is an overly romantic move by the club, remember we are a club that is romantic. Be it absolute success or genuine heartbreak, we are built on both. There aren't many clubs like us in the world - and our history, style and success should lay the foundations for our future.

Keane and the class of 92 has a romantic view of what united represent. You can't play champagne football with lukaku, fellaini, jones and matic.
Ole has more experience in managing donkeys at molde. His choice for no 2 is quite pragmatic. Phelan might not be a united legend but unlike the class of 92 he understands football
They still think we’d get 4th. Which is virtually impossible as we need Chelsea to lose 3 games and draw 2 as well as get a better goal difference. Then hope Arsenal go on a similar run too. PSG in champions league will be tough. We don’t have much to play for besides FA Cup. Club left it too late to sack Jose.
Staring at a white wall is more fun than watching us play, to be fair.
Let us get behind this appointment until we have genuine reasons to start moaning again.

Phelan's first job....stamp on a balloon and scare the sh*t out of Ole. That video of phelan and fergie always cracks me up! Well pleased with the appointment. No it may not be long term but if it gets some atmosphere back at home and makes some play with a little more belief and passion then can only be a good thing. Let's hope the whole team get behind them and we can steer this ship away from the rocks!
