Is Ole a good appointment?

We got back from 0:2 vs Burnley, Spurs are good side so that can happen and what exactly happened vs Brighton?
The Burnley game we kept piling on the pressure but there was no discernible change in our tactics. We got lucky that Hendricks lost his way and gave the pen away when he did.

Spurs I can agree because they're a top side but don't you remember the last 20-25mins of the Brighton game, we couldn't get a foothold at all and what was an easy game up to that point became extremely nervy.

Think Ole's got to tweak the way we utilise possession in games. It's nice always passing forward and looking to catch the opponents out with a quick, direct ball, but when that isn't working then the team has to know how to control possession with more care and patience. I'm not sure whether this is a feature of his style or down to other factors.

Well done OGS. Really liked the selection today, not a classic performance but we always looked like winning

What is the record for most matches unbeaten from start of stint for a manager in PL? Mourinho lost in his 9th league match in 2004-05. Anybody done better? Not wins wise but avoiding defeat.

I don't remember Brighton so dramatically. And we got back vs Burnley, sure we were lucky but so they were with their goals. I mean that tactically different could you want.

Cafe's reaction is amazing, Klopp, Sarri and Pep have struggling to beat Leicester City, Ole has won a game away there, they are easily best-pressing side outside 6, we were not used to pressing so well when trying to play our football.

Poch has three unconvincing wins in the last three games, as well as Klopp.

This game will happen more in the future, exactly the same as dropping point when playing so well, like in Burnley.

Let's not be spoiled children and take a look at where We were two months ago and today.

10 games unbeaten, 9 wins, 1 draw. Battered smaller teams, won against Arsenal away, Leicester away, Tottenham away. The players are enjoying themselves, Martial signed a new contract (even though He could have just waited till the end of season to see if things went well).

All under a caretaker manager. You can always say "but but We play ugly", that also happened under Sir Alex! do not pretend it never happened. Playing ugly and still winning is a title-winning form. Since Ole took over, no other team in PL won more points than us. I'm sold, give him the job. It's not his fault We have Young in RB and that our right side of attack is non existent.
Well said.
It is amazing looking at where we were, how we're now suddenly wanting more. That's gotta be a credit to Ole.

Last year we had games like this. Winning ugly. But we shouldn't have too much of those.

Exactly.

It's not like Leicester are relegation candidates that we should be dispatching with ease, they a damn good side on their day. People need to take a look at what they did to the scousers the other night for evidence of that fact.

They have gone behind in over 70% of their games this season but generally found a way back into it, we managed to prevent that from happening today.

All this as well. Let's be happy we got out of there with all three points at a crucial point of the season.

Hardly his fault that the previous guy had no idea how to build a proper midfield at United.

It is even a good thing that he pulled Ander out to get this kind of midfield atm.

I get that and make you kind of right but we can't play these 3 all season. We need to get a tune out of Fred. He's not gonna get that on the bench.

His management of this game was terrible in every aspect today. We somehow ended up being much poorer in the second half despite the first half also being pathetic.

Judging from the games against Spurs, Brighton, Burnley and today he seems to have no clue on how to change a game tactically when it's running away from us. He's done fantastic up to now but these concerns are marks I'd have against him if deciding on whether he gets the job.

Can't think of many matches that we were much better in second half tbh. New Castle away perhaps? But our 2nd half performances under Ole have been very sloppy, especially from 60 minutes onward.

Fellaini was sold almost instantly, Valencia is apparently getting phased out and Darmian is barely getting a look in. He's about the most ruthless manager we've had since SAF.
All this, & he seemingly does it with a smile on his face and in a (perceivedly) positive way with the players. (Ole said he’s had some good discussions with Fellaini).

I think the honeymoon period is coming to the end. we'll know more at the end of this month than waiting till the end of the season....

Our midfield depth is worryingly bad. Only player who sprung to my mind who could have comed in to try to strengthen our mid is McTominay. Maybe e Fred should get more minutes.

Don't think his management was poor, he clearly knew that Leicester are better when counter attacking possession teams, so set us up in the second half to defend the 18 yard box and only press when in the final third.
We were just poor at times with the transition, some sloppy play and poor passes into midfield meant we were at times under more pressure than we needed to be .

Yeh today wasn’t pretty. If Jose had done this performance there wouldn’t be anyone defending it.

Doesn’t bode well for the big games coming up.

Honeymoon over but we're still winning. Great if you ask me.

I know it may come across as if I'm nitpicking but there's nothing I'd love more than Ole being a success in the job. I just think his in-game management has been average to poor. In some games it's been due to tiredness but in others I think he's hesitated to make tactical changes or subs quick enough when we are struggling.

The magnificent start continues.

The peformance was disappointing but we can't always be dazzling. I've maintained that I'd like to see more of us to really be able judge Ole for the job, and I still feel that way. But he's done a brilliant job by any barometer you choose.

Today we were poor but honestly don't know what he could have done. Our midfield quality out of 1st eleven is disastrous. Attacking positions are only a bit better but still poor.

Must be pretty tiring for the mod to keep changing the thread title every match.

Can't argue with that but questions do need to be asked. Don't know if it's Ole or some of the players....

Well, he will play more for sure. It is not like he was not given a chance.

If winning away at a tough ground is pathetic then standards have risen quite dramatically

Proof in the pudding

Yeah but honeymoon is over.
I guess some fans gave him the honeymoon and now they're starting to be negative already. God knows how would they react if we were losing games.

Luckily we didn't play many games like this eh?

Are we all really like the scousers where we can’t look honestly on a performance? I love Ole & he’s done well but today’s performance was awful

If City wins today you will see how valuable these 3 points were irrespective of us having to grind out the win. Firmly behind Ole.

Jesus! 9 wins and one draw out of ten games and people still think it's not good enough :lol:

Yep, think it's healthy. I think a player could score for 9 games and we would say he was necessarily the answer....

It was but why the drama. We can't play great all the time. At the end of the day 3 points is all that matters. Of course games like today one shouldn't be the norm.
