Ole Gunnar Solskjaer criticises some players from time in charge at Old Trafford

Personally think it's poor form from journalists to release an interview on the day of big games like this.

If this is from the same interview with Mitten then he should know better.

Why would you have BBC in the title when they're just quoting The Athletic?

Honestly journalists these days are as much about creating the news as they are reporting and investigating it. Should they have waited? Yes. Would it have cost them clicks? Possibly (probably not if we get hammered). Will anyone at the club take them to task on it? Not on your nelly. Would they have done it under SAF? Not twice.

He'll likely have zero say in when articles are released. I've heard him many times on Talk of The Devils talking about an article he's done and not knowing when it will be out and it taking weeks before the Athletic publish it.

Is it not the editors that pick when these types of interviews go out? Sure Mitten said on Talk of the Devils last week that he'd done an interview piece that would likely come out at some point this week.

I saw one extract and thought it was Ole contributing to the attack on the manager.

But having read the entire interview I think it is very good and has come at a great time. It actually sheds light on the issues ETH is facing with player powers. If anything it shows that ETH is facing more public and hostile resistance from players because he isn’t tolerating it.

It’s really come to the stage where certain players who have the wrong attitude / ego etc need to be put in their places.

Journalists don't decide when something publishes, editors do.

Weeks and weeks ago I recall Mitten saying he’d spoken at length with Solskjaer over the phone. But scant details were released at the time.

So don't know if he's done a subsequent follow up recently or if these quotes have been on ice for a while.

Ole’s a clown. He’s a big part of why we have so many issues now. With is poor squad building a lack of authority.

Yeah I added one too many "last week"s in there. He said about it coming out this week IIRC, not that he'd done it last week. Maybe it was released as it coincided with him starting his new role?

Not a word of what Ole's saying is wrong, the mentality at this club has been rotten to the core for years starting from the very top.

Not sure why it's being written on a news page though, how the feck is any of this news? Everyone knows we're a disgrace.

Fair enough.

Athletic have certainly stuck the boot into United unnecessarily in previous weeks.

Negative press on United = more fans reading = more money

Current meta for press making money is print any shit about united and watch the income roll in

Being slightly facetious. I know full well why we're being written about but calling it news is a major stretch, they may as well tell us bears shit in the woods.

"You're dealing with humans with all their problems and backgrounds - this isn't a computer simulation. "

Basically this. Which is the same for every football team in the world. I don't see why it's always so much drama for us.

Real Madrid has gone through I don't know how many players, managers, prima-donna players, good players bad players etc, and are always one of the best teams in the world.
With us, it's always drama and rebuild and culture and process. pff

He spent 2 years chasing Sancho and couldn't be arsed to ask him if he wants to play as RW. He never rewatched the Villareal game (good luck with analysis and learning from mistakes there) and he doesn't even remember all the signings he made for United. I am not suggesting that he was the only issue at United because he clearly wasn't. But jeez how massively out of depth the guy was. No wonder why no European top club wants him.

I hate these types of interviews, if you are going to run your mouth tell the whole truth. Now you are gonna have people speculating on who turned down the captaincy, who thought they were too good and tried to force a move.

I do think he's right to say that ETH has been backed now though. He sounded sympathetic to an extent but almost made a point that the pressure comes with the job. His comments about footballers being human and not a computer simulation did make me wonder if this was a pop at ETH. When did this interview take place?

Because we handed all the power to the players after Fergie left and can't wrestle it back. Madrid just fire any fecker into the sun who dares to cross paths with the lunatic President.

They're all still at the club otherwise he'd name names, and if he did while they're at the club you can imagine the circus involved around that, only for their PR team to say it isn't true.

I wonder why people would want to interview Ole Gunnar Solksjaer the day of a game against Bayern Munich?

My guess on captaincy is probably Ronaldo. Maybe Bruno or De Gea as an outside shout. It would have had to have been somebody more senior than Maguire.

I think we know who the players that wanted to force a move are, they've practically admitted it in the media ages ago. Think Lingard and Henderson were two, who were unhappy that Ole promised them chances if they came back but never followed through. There were a couple of others too, but doubt they refused to train. VdB was one.

That's not how I read it at all. Seems to be a lot of over reaction to this interview here. I thought it was very respectful and measured once you get past the sensationalist headline. A nothing burger if you will.

No we didn't

Oh I understand that part, I just mean that I hate the aftermath of the interview. Lingard,Henderson and pogba after some article were seen as the snakes that leaked Information by body language detectives. They are all gone and all sorts of Information still gets leaked.

Which bit did you interpret different? If the interview was recent then the 'computer simulation' stuff could have been in reference to recent topics eg Sancho, who Ole did buy don't forget. If the interview is from months ago then it's obviously not.

It almost seems like only United news keep these media sites ticking. Everyday there are articles that are rehashed points from previous articles. But they make sure something negative about United is in news everyday.

no he isn't, it's the owners

christ how many years of failed managers, players, coaches and everything else do you need to figure this out?

God damn u guys are getting such a kicking right now!
It is an easy way to engage 100% of the football world. If we take 1% being man Utd fans who click, we can add the 99% of the fans of other clubs who love seeing us get a kicking.

That said, Solskjaer deserves to be listened to. He dealt with a lot of the issues Ten Hag is facing now, he's not responsible for creating them but maybe he wasn't a big enough manager to solve them.

You're talking to Mainoldo who hated Ole the moment he stepped through the door and would post negative shit daily throughout his time at United. I also vaguely remember that he's a Jose fan boy.
