Players were out of energy and ideas in the Wolves game it seemed, but we have to be realistic and it's going to take time to turn this squad into a well-oiled machine. He has still vastly exceeded any expectations since he arrived, and nobody could make this team win every single game.

It was a poor team performance but I liked that how quickly he realised changes needed to be made and he made sure he got the information across.

Mourinho wouldn't have substituted Pereira in for Herrera today, but Ole risked it.. and Pereira made that goal..
I guess this has been the biggest difference between us winning now, and under Mourinho ...

Eh, it's pretty clear we have a lot of work to do wrt squad. It is no co-incidence we've seen similar performances under 3 previous managers as well.

Important win today, need to ensure we beat Wolves on Tuesday.

Why do we sit back against Watford at home ? What happened to the Ole of the first few games where he sets us up to play with courage and dominate in open play ?

That happens whether you want it to or not if you don't have the ball or have any ability (from a shite midfield) to retrieve it.

People won't like it but the reality is we were crap in possession under Mourinho not because he was parking the bus but because our players are crap in ball retention skills especially in opponent's half and it's still showing under Ole.

No one can convince me Ole was enjoying such crap performance or inability to go forward or attack today.

It's simply the players problem. This performance is getting repeated under the last 3 managers, Ole included.

Our players are great on their day but when they're terrible, they become absolutely shite. Our passing and possession of the ball are disgraceful for a squad of a big team.

Imho, it’s different now for Ole because he is the permanent manager. He may not willing to take risk as previous. Any mistake will cost him the job

We have played badly for a few weeks now, the media keep sugercoating it with headlines of attacking football which is nonsense.

We are a counter attacking team, all the goals today came from a transition of play (back to front) the result is the most important but the performances thus far do not give me confidence that we will challenge for a title under ole.

We never seem to have a platform to win a game, we seem to just be exploiting opportunities but in a manner where the opposition have to have a large proportion of possession before we do anything significant. Only two solid performances thus far have been Cardiff and Arsenal away (Chelsea too)

Yes I've been saying it for ages. Our players aren't good at quality, quick passing. The manager/coaches could improve it but can't work a miracle.

It's a good point but imo we should not be starting Matic AND Herrera in a game like today. Go 4-4-2 or sacrifice Matic/Herrera for someone more attacking like Fred. I am genuinely worried about this, I hate 4-3-3 with 2 holding midfielders. However at least we have attacking fullbacks now.

Ole needs to address this in the summer for sure. Get some quality players in and get a coach to drill the players in possession.

Really wish he'd address that right wing. Young is abysmal yet plays everytime he's available. And he only seems to consider Mata and Lingard for the right wing, both of whom lack quality and abandon the right wing after the first five minutes to congest the midfield.

Just play anyone who can stay there, offer an option and stretch the defence to make the left free up a bit for Martial, Pogba and Shaw.

Dalot or Chong or anyone.
It conserns me that Lingard plays almost any minute when available, like Ole is content to leave the whole wing for our aging fullback.

Or inability to properly set up your team. I thought today everyone was clueless where should they be, everyone was literally chasing the ball with no positional awareness at all. I personally think we should have waited until the end of the season to appoint Ole because as long as he is very likeable and creates a good atmosphere around the club, I am not sure he is good enough tactically. We were completely outplayed 2nd game in a row and a few of our wins earlier were also quite lucky to be fair. All is good as long as you win but it has these vibes from Jose's last season with us that our luck will eventually run out.

This is not based on one game. I didn't want to ask this question before because we were all happy that results are great, team spirit was high, we all love Ole as a person and personally i knew that people will say that i am hater, Jose lover, wum or something.
But now, after 5,6 shambolic performances, can somebody tell me what is difference between Jose's style and Ole's style?
I am not talking about Jose's 3rd season. It was pure disaster. But last year, we played nearly the same style like we are playing now. Yes, in big games we show more courage but in general it is defensive football based on counters.
Psg(2x), Leicester, Watford, Spurs, Wolves dominated us. Against Newcastle, Saints and Burnley we had some big parts of game when we were dominated also. Maybe our players are not top class but surely they are much better than all those teams( except Psg, of course).

This is not some knee jerk. I just want to understand something what i clearly can't see.

It's a very important transfer window coming up.

Let's not get all over Ole now. It only adds more pressure that we don't need. Give him a chance.

I have my reservations over his ruthlessness and that is something we need if we want to reshape this squad. Too many bang average players that need moving on but I don't see it happening under Ole tbh. Contract renewals of Young, Jones, and Smalling certainly seem to indicate that.

Performances in the last two months have gone to shite. Ole has to arrest them.

We hired someone who failed at cardiff. Liverpool and Man City have 2 of the 5 or so best managers in the world.

Our linkage between MF and Attack was poor today. I think that is part of the tactics. We leave two or sometimes three players around the half way line and seek to counter. It worked a gem against Arsenal in the FA CUP.

Today though we could not link MF around our box to our attackers in the middle of the pitch. We had chances, mainly in the first half.

Second half was very worrying. MF were completely second best. It looked as though watford were the home team.

Oh for fcuk sake, here we go.
feck off. I've had reservations since the start. Shouldn't have been swung by a new manager bounce. Especially considering the cancer which came before.

We have hired him, and so need to give him a chance. He needs a transfer window. Matic and Herrera being shite is also a large part of the reason why we are playing poorly.

Anyone have Ole's post match interview? Will be interesting to see what he says.

I don't think any mistake will cost him. Sure if we'll be terrible but not any mistake.

Pereira wouldn’t have been in the squad and he would have brought on Rom

Honestly we need 2 summer windows to address the overwhelming problems we have on the right and CM.

Not going to blame Ole for anything this season. He picked up a team down and out in December and gave us hope, most of the fans were ready to give up the season.

Players are very average and performances like this hopefully will encourage Ole and board to spend big in the summer.

Yes I've been saying it for ages. Our players aren't good at quality, quick passing. The manager/coaches could improve it but can't work a miracle.

With the money that he spent, he wasn't supposed to be in a position to have to perform miracles which is why he has been sacked.

Or more likely when you can’t press because right now pressing create too many injuries and we need to manage that... which is the most realistic answer here since we stopped pressing after realizing we had tons of muscle injuries.
