 Our fans seem to be willing to moan about literally everything these days.

He had a brilliant record at Molde both domestically and in Europe. He didn’t keep Cardiff in Premier League but it was almost five years ago and they were a truly bad team as well. We were never going to hire a world class proven manager as our interim coach in the middle of the season, having a former player who has been successful in management so far fill the role for six months was probably the best choice.

Martinez is also a nice and positive bloke, but the Everton players ended up hating him.

Ultimately, it will depend on how cued up Ole is and whether his tactics work. We still have massive limitations within the squad in terms of having no true RW, our DM being on his last legs (Matic) and the inconsistency of our CBs. Make no mistake, this appointment is a risk and Ole has a right job on his hands.

But in the words of Grindeldepp, if it is for the Greater Good, so be it. The club needs time to choose the right manager and an interim appointment is the only way to go.
Sure, being a nice guy and a well respected ex-player is not enough to be a good manager here, but it's only for half a season. I don't see players turning on him in that time, far from it.

I don't know anything else but I know I will be watching United with so much interest again.

If he does well, hoping the board aren't naive enough to hire on a permanent basis.
Think that was part of the reason in hiring OGS, it almost guarantees there won't be too much pressure to keep him on, no matter how well we do.

Nobody is moaning. We are discussing about risks involved.

Hoping OGS has Di Matteo kind of impact though. But should not be offered a role of permanent manager.

Hope he registers himself in our CL side. Comes on the 80th min in CL finals for Rom and scores the winner

On the cafe you are "moaning" if you are skeptical about something or have a differing opinion than the majority. No discussion is allowed and you'll be met with a'' if one of the regular stiffs doesn't agree with that opinion. It can be a special place at times.

Yeah, everyone is so quick to berate someone who has a slightly different opinion than the majority.

There’s really not much risk. It’s half a year of football where we are basically almost done in top 4 race anyway and have very little chance in Champions League.

What he will definitely do is have us play a more attacking brand of football, he will certainly make several mistakes which will cost us points but the attacking mentality should hopefully be there at the end of his stint.

As for the next move, I won’t exclude him completely. If he does very well and we get turned down by our top two or three choices there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be extended. Let’s wait and see.

It’s down to the tactics and the teams he picks, if I still see young, lukaku, matic and fellaini stinking up the starting 11, then it will end the same way has Jose. But ole, pay attention on what was hurting us and sinking us ole, don’t play those guys esp fellaini and matic together. If I see the likes of delot, pogba, Fred and martial start every week I have hope, esp if he starts putting matic, fellaini and young on the bench where they belong bench players, ole maybe canny and shows us he does have commen sense, and he will do well this season maybe. But? it’s down to his team and tactics he picks, we need commen sense starting 11’s, not donkeys holding back the flair, flair over donkeys ole, the united way.

Yeah but I hope there's a lot left for the season. PSG can be defeated. FA cup and if we can go on a run then there's a possibility too. We almost made top 4 under LvG! There's where I think a more accomplished manager could have helped us achieve that.

We really should do whatever we can to get our desired candidates. We can't feck this up now can we? Of course if nobody wants to manage us and if Ole does a great job than why not.

I don't really want us to go back to Europa so either Ole does excellent or he can tinker with his lineups howsoever he wants.

So his preferred formation is 4-3-3?

Can anyone elaborate on how he sets his teams up to play and what their general style of play is?

I can't wait to see how these strikers respond under Phelan and ole's attacking coaching.

Matic will most likely start given that he usually plays with 3 midfielders (1 anchor(Matic/?), 1 B2B(Fred/Herrera) and 1 playmaker(Pogba/Pereira)).

Rashford and Martial will start. Lingard/Mata/Sanchez/Lukaku and maybe Greenwood(since he is left footed) will be the alternatives on the right.

I just don’t think matic suits the modern game, it’s too fast for him and he hasn’t got the legs this season proved that. But like I say if either one of them plays they will remind us why Jose Mourinho was sacked, ole must look at this cancer that has plagued us, we need speed and that means creativity and pressing, none of matic and fellaini provides us this, again delot should also see young benched. I just hope in the summer the new manager sees this problem and moves on the deadwood of Valencia, young, Jones, darmian, rojo, matic and fellaini, lukaku will be harder to move on, but the rest need to go. If we see this ruthless aggression and sees what was killing us, I actually think this club can move forward

Brilliant start from the man. Just get your subs early next time but otherwise, flawless and provided everything we asked for.

I love his set-up. The full-backs playing really high, the interchanging in attack, the one-touch football, the movement off the ball, the high press, covering more ground than the opposition whilst still dominating the ball, encouraging the centre-backs to bring the ball out... all so, so refreshing.

Well done, Ole.

Well, you can't really ask for a better start than that.

Iregardless of the result the setup was spot on.
Strong in midfield, fullbacks starting high, martial close to the striker etc.
If he can get this system working on a consistent basis we'll fly up the league.

Ole said that Rooney's been on the text to him during the week.

Get him on the staff too!

The haters were right. He did destroy Cardiff.

How many crosses did we put in today? Can't have been many... Seems like the emphasis was getting the ball into the box via passing and dribbling... Which suits us a lot more.

Well going by the response on here, people would rather have Ranieri since he is an established world class manager than Ole, even if he does fantastically well.

Didn't do well at Cardiff though guys which makes the rest of his coaching career illegitimate.

Honestly there's no way that Lindelof and Jones would've been allowed to go this forward under LvG, Jose etc and btw I can see why his style didn't work at Cardiff.
