Ole Gunnar Solskjær | Beşiktaş J.K. (sack watch)

For moyes to be the only post SAF manager to still coach in a top 5 European league was certainly not on my bingo card!

Wish him the very best.
Their nickname is the 'Black Eagles' so most probably a reference to that.
How does one mimic a bird of prey anyway

I think he's looking more for the right fit for him. He's gotten a couple of PL offers which technically would be higher status, but I don't think he's interested in another relegation battle. Not after Cardiff.

He wasn't getting a top job (meaning a top 10-15 club) with his CV after United. I think a Turkish top club is a pretty decent gig for him.
Would've expected Ligue 1 or Bundesliga jobs but anyhow. I am curious how he does in Turkey that's a rather specific atmosphere.

Yeah, I was kind of expecting a mid-table Bundesliga team or something like that. That would perhaps have been better for him too. But this beats a mid-level national team or a PL relegation battle I guess.

I'm also curious to see how he does.

I wasn't. Bayern fans know who he is due to that goal, but that is basically his only connection to German football. BL midtable clubs tend to go either for managers who are experienced in this league or tend to give newcomers a chance that manage junior or lower level teams in Germany. Also Austria and Switzerland provide some mamagers, there is a decent amount from there moving into the BL, especially due to the Red Bull conveyor belt and Rangnick's influence (Hasenhüttl, Glasner, Hütter, Seoane, Favre...).

Ole just never was on this train, so he would have been a massive left field appointment for any BL club.

Why does it say (sack watch)? The disdain for a club legend is disgraceful, he wasn’t even that bad at Man Utd. The only manager post Fergie to have 2 top 4 finishes in their first full seasons.

Whats he trying to mimick? A tiger? Making pizza dough with both hands?

I think it might be an eagle because that's their nickname but don't quote me on it. Grabbing his pray with his claws and that.

Shit impression and we need sound effects.

everyone is and will always be on sack watch.

I love Ole but this is a truly bizarre move. The man just needs to coach his kids teams and enjoy his quiet life because he just isn't a football manager. And why he thinks he can have any success is a rigged league like Turkiye that even Mourinho is having a hard time in is beyond me.

Club legend or not, overall he was abysmal as an appointment. If you're cool with "trophies are for egos", ok.

There was nuance to that quote

What was meant by that was trophies don't show that the team is improving, what shows the team is improving is higher in the league each year and getting closer to the title. This can almost poetically be applied to EtH, yes he won 2 trophies, but did the team improve overall. Did it feck. What did EtH on numerous of occasions refer to - his trophies.

So yes, what Ole said was right, trophies gleam over the overall problems of the team.

Ole was and still is I believe the perfect appointment at the time and I think he would have done wonders under INEOS, the re-signing Ronaldo, just as the team was improving was his ultimate downfall.

It's probably harsh, but I find it difficult to see Turkey as anything other then a football graveyard.

Hope he does well though!

Just had a look where they are in the table, and they're 6th - one place below Eyupspor, who are presumably the best Turkish football team in Yorkshire.

Good for him, an exciting challenge and not a bad place to live I should warrant. Hope he does well there.

It's just a forum joke, pretty much every manager gets it at some point.

Nah nah nah he was not abysmal appointment. He had has go like 28 games unbeaten away from home, was a penalty miss away from us winning the Europa. Consistently beat Man City, and actually had us being one of the most effective counterattacking teams in the world and had us finish 2nd something only Jose Mourinho has managed to do post Fergie

His signings barring over paying for Maguire also made sense. He left the team in a far better shape than Ten hag ever did. He gave us Varane, Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, the latter 2 players are still key members of our club 4 years after Ole's departure.

tried his damn best to bring in Haaland before he made his move to Dortumend as well as did everything to bring in Bellingham from Birgminham. Even his cheap punts like Dan James brought more to the table than the hacks ETH brought in like Antony mount

Had our attack looking fluid and interchangle between martial, rashford and greenwood where we scored someo the most devastating orchetrasted counter attacking goals since SAF days

So for people to disrespect him and say he's not a football manager AND should be managing kids without taking into consideration the good work he did here is a disgrace. Was he qualified or good enough for the job? No but he didn't isn't our worse ever United manager and he never disgraced himself or ever kept making up excuses for his failings, he conducted himself with class and humility and I believe he can definitely make his mark at a small club

And the only manager post Fergie to win absolutely nothing despite spending an absolute fortune and also getting more time than anyone else. That in itself, was a joke that club gave the rookiest and with the worst CV manager post Fergie most time (and not to once world class managers like LVG, Mourinho etc.) and most money just because of his past with the club as a player.

It was an appointment that shouldn't have happened in the first place and hands down the most damaging period post Fergie. We still can't get rid of some of his brilliant signings like Maguire to this day. His managerial stint was absolutely awful however you want to portray it.
