In a hypothetical scenario in which Ole gets sacked tomorrow. Out of Poch and Ole which one you do think would get any offers from serious clubs?

That’s what you call a loaded question my friend so I’m not gonna answer as you know the answer to that.

In response hypothetically do you support Ole or the next manager whoever the feck it is given our boards propensity to feck things up?

I just feel very flat when it comes to the club in general tonight, its amazing what an injury to our main player can do, but with Rashford out for awhile the rest of the season seems like one hell of an uphill struggle, as if it wasn't going to be tough to watch anyway.

I just want to look forward and think we're going in the right direction.

He’s also been our most successful manager in the last 7 years.

Lukaku has gone to Inter and a top scorer in Europe.

Pogba was in the team of the year last season and when he moves will he regarded as one of the best players in the world.

Fred was MOTM today.

Zlatan has been our best signing in the last 7 years.

Van Gaal was far more damaging than Mourinho’s signings.
You've named 4 payers there. 2 of them don't play for us any more. Another is actively trying to leave.

How is this useful to us?

My point is they are good players but they haven’t worked for us. Maybe there are much bigger issues at the club than simply every single signing we make suddenly becomes a bad player when they join?

He managed to improve a team with Daniel Levy above him and wasn’t able to sign players one season. So once again you’re wrong.

I am not slagging Maguire (although I think he is short of the very top level of a Ferdinand, Vidic, Terry or van Dijk). I just don’t feel the need to praise Ole as some DoF in waiting because he landed Maguire for a world record fee.
Fair enough. But look at LVG and Jose's signings. How many of them are still even here? How many of them are actually good for us on a regular basis? Martial and Fred (over the last couple of months)???? Is that it?

I can forgive overpaying slightly for someone that plays every week to a good level and is the club captain. We really aren't in a position to add more problems to the squad. Maguire is a good player and I'm glad we have him.

It helped he had a squad of decent players, do you think ole has had the same situation?

I’d hardly call the Spurs side he took over as great or in fact better than the side Ole took over from Mourinho. That’s the same Spurs squad that AVB wasted the £100m from the Bale transfer on players Poch eventually sold.

He improved every player in that Spurs team which is why they went from Europa League to regular Champions League qualifiers.

The revisionism on what Poch achieved with Spurs on here is just odd. Why do you dislike him?

None of Ole's signings have become bad players. He's even salvaged one of Jose's that looked like a complete flop.

I'm not even here to complain about Ole's tactics but what kind of shitty rebuild is this by he and Woodward. Players are constantly injured, very poor squad depth, 130m on defense and our defense is still constantly shaky and leaking goals, signing an LW in James when we are in much desperate need of an RW, playing the youth because we pretty much rarely have any other choice.

People say we are rebuilding but don't look beyond that word. Is the way we are rebuilding good or bad. Don't you think with the resources we have it would have been dealt with better than we are doing under a competent manager and DOF

I don’t dislike him, I dislike Jose and the shitshow Ole had to take over and think he’s done ok so far. I’m not sure that a Poch etc would do much better on double the salary probably,

Unlike "successful" United fans such as yourself, closing on a decade without even a title challenge and out of the CL most years, yet happy with Ole because they respect him

The irony of calling out Spurs fans for loving Poch.

As far as I can see Ole can win 2 trophies in his first full year as united boss. How many years did it take Poch to win none?

"Salvaged" my arse, Fred's a top player, and showing now just why Guardiola wanted him. He just needed time to settle, plenty of new players to England take a season to really settle in.

Robert Pires in his own words:

"But to make the adaption, to find the rhythm and the tempo, for me it took six or seven months. It was very tough, for me it was the aggression and intensity."

Kenny Danglish won a Carling Cup when he returned to Liverpool, does it make his spell back there anymore successful? we are going absolutely nowhere just as Liverpool were under him, that's the truth. I'd say I can't believe that there's United fans that wouldn't take Poch if he begged us to take him tomorrow, but really I'm not all that surprised. Woodward is playing you all like a fiddle and for fools. Hiring an ex legend that he knew was going to shield him more than any of his previous appointments could and it's working perfectly.

Erm, Ole simply had to play him, because he didn't sign any replacements for the players he let go. As for Fred, he needed a run of games to get into any kind of rhythm, and he has got injuries and our incompetent board and manager to thank he got that. Salvaged, FFS!

The reason I want Ole to stay is to feck Woodward so that’s bollocks.

If and when he sacks Ole all you lot will forget about your issues with him until the next manager struggles.

How is keeping Ole going to feck Woodward?

If anything he can do whatever the feck he wants, because Ole isn't going to say a thing, he's just over the moon at being given a crack at managing one of the biggest clubs in the world.

You had the choice to remove him but instead there has been quotes on how Ole and Carrick kept trusting Fred. So yes, "salvaged" is the right word. Most managers just don't see the end tunnel and don't play those players.

What showed today was that our players individually as not as crap some of you make them out to be. Collectively we are crap. If we had a good coach we most probably would have won today. Today shows how important coaching is.

For the first time since Fergie we actually have someone in charge who wants what’s best for the club. Every other manager brought in donkeys for immediate effects with no thought to the future of the club from the likes of fellaini to Schweinsteigar to Sanchez. Each ruining us bit by bit.

Ole is taking shit on the chin by trying to clean the crap out and playing the youth but we have fans who aren’t happy unless it’s mega money signings, whether you like it or not, see it or not he is improving us.

Jeezus I forgot all about him. We really have been all over the map with recruitment since Fergie left.

We're short in so many areas...

Poch is a very good manager.

But the idea that he simply coached a bad group into a good one is inaccurate. He said several times himself in his book that he needed to do a big clearout of the squad and sign several players before they would improve much. He signed 27 players in his time there. He didn't spend huge money but he did bring in players that suited what he wanted to do. If he didn't get to do that they wouldn't have been able to play the football he wanted them to play.

Ole hasn't been able to do that yet. It seems pretty obvious that a quality attacking midfielder should unlock a huge amount of this teams potential. RVP and others have pointed out that Rashford and Martial make 15 great runs a game yet never receive the ball. It's also pretty clear that the low block will be less effective against a team with more than one person capable of playing a forward pass. Also would teams sit in and allow us the ball at the edge of their box when we have someone like Fernandes with a canon of a shot or are CBs more likely to have to step out and leave spaces to exploit? How dangerous would our counter attacks be with someone who can actually pick the right option as opposed to someone like Andreas who never does? These things matter a great deal in building a team and a style of play.

How much better would our defense look with a proper defensive minded midfielder protecting it there as opposed to an old man who struggles to cover the ground? We had a nice run of form while Scott and Fred were in there. When we haven't had those 2 teams have opened us up at will. Ole has signed 3 players so far. He took over a mess of a squad that had been built with a two completely different styles of play in mind. Considering all the injuries we've had and the complete lack of cover in important positions I think he's doing pretty well.

Judge him when he has players actually capable of doing what he wants. When or if that actually happens is down to Ed unfortunately.

The pressure is on Woodward as well, if he sacks Ole and brings in the boy all you Ole out brigade want he can go take a holiday.

Woodward is playing you all like a fiddle and for fools. Hiring an ex legend that he knew was going to shield him more than any of his previous appointments could and it's working perfectly.
Disagree. First of all he didn't get alot of criticism for appointing lvg or mourinho, and rightfully so because they were reasonable choices at the time. Second, Ole has caused him far more trouble and cricisim from the fans than the previous managers, and being an ex legend makes him harder and more awkward to sack. During the caretaker run he was under constant pressure both from the fans and the media to give him the contract.

Perhaps.

Do the manager and coaches get any credit?

Ole and the board have a done a great job lowering the standards and expectations. After getting beat by our biggest rivals and outclassed fans and ex-players are tripping over each other to make excuses, it's amazing! I didn't think Ole would bring up last year's game as a positive, it's all a bit pathetic really.

This is why I never wanted an ex-player to manage us, it's everything I feared and worse.

The biggest problem at United is the complete lack of structure at the top. Would Klopp or Guardiola have come here and worked wonders with Woodward and the Glazers over the past year? I very, very much doubt it.
Klopp's spend is less than us in the same period so he would have. With Pep it depends on how much Glazers were willing to spend as Pep's football requires excellent players.

Smiling after losing at Anfield and losing Rashford for the season. Enough is enough
Is there anything we can do? Being Norwegian and all.

We are suppose to allow this guy to perform a rebuild when he has already screwed up one window by purchasing average defenders when we priority should have been midfielder and striker, at least with Mourinho he had a good first transfer window.

This is probably an unpopular opinion. But does anyone else cringe at Ole’s post match interviews? I get he’s trying to save face and look like a determined warrior but the stuff he is spewing is absolutely cringe.
