I feel for those who are every 3 years make some stupid and wrong comments like begging to hire Mourinho & just pretend like no one ever saw or heard their viewpoints just because they were never that important in the first place. The football we watched has always been boring & what has been happening in the background with the squad has been way more important - if people can't see that then keep begging to hire a Mourinho every 2-3 years.

The game was bad today but for some reason it felt like a United performance. I enjoyed that win very much. Ole did everything right except for putting Rashfold on the field.

He's not the long term fix and a couple wins doesn't change that. I stand the same as I did at the start of the season. He should be manager until May and then we've got to go all in for Pochettino. I think that is what will happen too. Ole staying in a way has helped stabilize and develop some of the youth and it's also given some of the players we have been unsure about a run due to lack of squad quality. For example it's been proven Fred is worth keeping around and Lingard should be given away and Rashford finally looks to be gaining some consistency.
Then we don't go for Poch, if he is stabilizing the team. Because stability is what we need right now.

They will be flying in after the Liverpool game. God forbid if we beat them somehow at Anfield... well no, they will say we are game raisers.

So, one can not be pessimistic about the way we play? Depending on counter-attacks and coincidence as the way to create chances are what is going to take us back to the top? Is the sample size big enough yet for us to conclude regarding OGS prefered style of play?
While I agree that there are a fair number of those that want OGS out that makes their opinion based on the last match, or his lack of credentials, or statements in the media and whatnot. And that these opinions are based on short term options... Please don't make it out to be that all the posters on here that do not share your opinion regarding our manager are as subjective as the average Norwegian football journo.

There are also a fair amount of the people being negative towards OGS that are so irrespective of short term elements -->
Based on the opinion that the way we approach the task of winning football matches is not going to take us far.
The lack of focus on what is fundamental in all performing teams are technical ability and passing efficiently.
Based on the players brought in and complete lack of any sort of passing system or general improvement in this department over the last 12 months.

Even if we make the top 4 this season, I would still prefer us to get a more progressive type of manager.

You'd have to be a fool to think Ole did anything wrong playing Rashford, we needed to win and weren't looking likely, so he put our best player on. If we'd lost tonight and Rashford never made it off the bench this place would be going mental.

This thread has same pattern as Jones and Lingard threads had in the past. 3 or 4 games of shit then one good game at OT and people would forget all that shit and started to praise them etc...
I think that even last year people still thought that problem with Jones are only injuries

There’s some very sad and strange posts on this thread. Reading this thread you’d think we’ve just been hammered 5 nil and out the FA Cup.

Can't disagree with that. I would probably have made the same decision.

Agree. This is our only chance for trophy. If your best player said that he is ready then he should play in this match. And i don't think that this injury has something with his previous one. Just bad luck

I was just stating a fact mate, I know for a fact the guys will be flying into that thread after the Liverpool game. Maybe not after a win, but well, we know what they will say, they will always say something.

I respect your opinion that we fail at passing sometimes, but where we do not fail is that we have a clearer idea of the team, and it's not just counter attacking. We talked about it extensively in this thread and elsewhere so I see no need to bring it up. In short, I like Ole's play style because it reminds me of the United with Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez. And I think we can get something out there, hopefully soon enough, that will depends on how we can get players we want. Right now, it's individual errors that are costing more than anything.

My opinion, and I am not from Norway, so I don't get the mention of the average Norwegian journalist.

I have liked different type of football, but I am not for any type of progressive football that would be about controlling the ball aimlessly or, as I like to say, soullessly. Who cares, we want intensity, we want percussion, we want conviction, win at all cost and freak out the opposition, that's what we want, and the tactics? Just a mean to do that. At best, I would prefer a Klopp style of play and that's definitely not "progressive". Or not possession based.

Maybe you did not like our 2008 team? That's OK, I remember plenty of people did not like the team, we were not playing like Barcelona or anything. Nor Arsenal. But that was a style that I liked. I actually love how the opposition thought we were crap but we could still win it. It's what creates the fear in the long run.

Who said that ? I just feel for them forcing themselves to like this crap. The opinions themselves though, don't matter.
But why waste your valuable emotions, energy and time on other people enjoying supporting their club? Seems very odd to me.

People giving out about style of play and relying on counter attacks have to realise we need a midfielder and nothing can be done until then. If he buys a playmaker and gets Pogba back and style is still terrible then criticise, not sure what any manager can do with current midfield.

Those saying he should have resolved last summer then also have to acknowledge that shoring up defence was main priority then given how terrible it was last season. He likely spent his budget on HM and AWB, that was a good transfer window let him have another to solve midfield

Let's hope we don't replace him with Nuno Espirito Santo when he does go. Do Wolves have these great 'patterns of play' that people on here say coaches like him bring to the table? Dire stuff.

You can be a dumb guy and still be intelligent. Just look at Ole. Obviously smarter than all of us, but still an idiot.;)
Says the guy supporting a team whos manager doesn't know when to change his back 4 even after all the hammerings , anyway enjoy the championship next season ;)

Meh not wasting anything. It's a feeling for a minute then moving on, as it must be a pretty tough task convincing yourself what you're seeing week in week out is good enough and fun worthy of defending. Not like I went to each one feeling that and told them to change their opinion.

The 2008 team had quality all over the pitch, we could score in any way, crossing, long shots, through balls through the centre, free kicks, and just through pure brilliant individual quality. I can definitely see Ole attempting to create a similar team, a team that can score anywhere and anytime, but there's currently a lack of quality in our squad to pull that off. It does take time to build that team.

I for one clearly see improvement in this team if I compare it to the other managers reign here.

I didn't see the match. How was it? All I know is that we won which in itself is a positive.

Both teams were pretty knackered as Ole said in the post match but it was a much better game than the previous tie (not difficult). Both teams were good and bad at different times. Wolves hit the post and should have scored early on, James missed a few good chances to put United ahead. Hate to be harsh but both teams had one attacking tactic for the first half and it didn't work for either them or us. United were the better team in the second half and scored on the counter.

It's bit frustrating seeing comments like this. We've seen it a few times with Ole playing players who really shouldn't be featuring. In certain games of the season it makes sense but personally an FA Cup 3rd Round replay (Rashford), Rochdale (Pogba) and McTominay (Newcastle?) I think it's clearly been the wrong call.

Wow what a statement. This team plays just like Jose’s team with worst results. LVG called it correctly last year.

He hasn’t got the players ;)

That's poor management again to be honest. Shouldn't have had him even on the bench if that was the case. He needs to be so much stronger with injured players. I know it's tough with our poor squad, but it does more harm than good the way he's handling these situations.

Yeah he is very much thinking short term and only focused on the next game and win. You can understand it, but sometimes you need to let players rest before they get back into the side.
