To my own somewhat amazement, my position in wanting Solskjaer to go is starting to budge a bit to the point where I am now 50/50.
Reason 1) Despite the intensity of the pressure he is not buckling at all, unlike say Moyes, who started to say odd and irritating stuff after every game. As did Mourinho come to that (although this activity also coincided with his successful periods at other clubs). He's standing up to the challenge and keeping his cool and when you think about the temperament you would have to be able to stay that focussed as a sub striker to come on and make an impact more or less every time, it stands to reason.
Reason 2) The young players are visibly improving. This is by no means a given. Rashford, despite looking like a world beater currently, was a real mess in previous seasons. It is by no means sure Greenwood would come in and do well. You have to give credit to Ole for this, the players are inconsistent, but they are not wilting and are as a general trend improving. Even Pereira you're seeing an improvement.
Reason 3) Ole is intelligent. i don't think he is near being a top level manager or coach yet. But I think the signs are there that he could well learn to become one. I believe he has a good understanding of how we are being beaten in games and so therefore may be well equipped to improve going forward. If he can develop parts of our game that don't just rely on pacy counter attacks that would be a very good start. There is some evidence of this.
I don't think you probably are either a world class coach/manager or not one. More than likely you learn to be. Ole being in the hotseat for this long is akin to an incredibly intense training period for that sort of level. There is likely no other real way to learn than to be in that position. Was Rodgers the coach he is now after Swansea? But after being Liverpool boss and then Celtic, that's the kind of experience that is required. You're not gonna actually really learn and rise to it until you've dealt with the full force of it.
Therefore my conclusion is, I think he has done enough to buy himself some time at least and the pressure should be lessened on him accordingly.
That being said if he was to go and Poch were to come in, you could entirely understand why.
