So every manager deals with losing good players then. Leicester should have stayed top like we should always finish at least 2nd, because we did it once right?

When he was hired permanently? Yes, he was.
You didn't answer either question. I didn't say when he was hired permanently. Before Jose was sacked was Ole in your top 10 managers to replace him? And the Ed question, too, please.

No and no. Both irrelevant.
As I thought, and absolutely relevant given the blind faith you have now adopted on the sole basis that the manager was a legendary player for us. And he was appointed by a guy we agree is clueless. Zero logic.

Then there is the shitty football, 11th place and the worst start in 30 years.

Yes lets just ignore that he came in and did the job far better than anyone could have expected before being given it permanently.

No blind faith here at all. Check all my posts if you want i've never said i think he's a great manager or will be in the future. He's just not doing anything particularly wrong so far with what we have, 5th on points in the PL since taking over, building a young squad with an eye on the future. We've shown big CVs at other clubs mean nothing once you're here.

Who do you want in if we sack him tomorrow? Why are you so convinced he'll do much better with these same players?

Not doing anything particularly wrong?? You mean other than presiding over the worst start to a season we've had in 30 years?

I would take Allegri over Ole tomorrow. I'm confident he'd be an improvement because he's a much better manager. We know this because of his track record.

Anyway, I'm bored now. Let's hope we can get a result today. I'm sure we can agree on that at least.

Since SAF retired it comfortably is.

I expected 6th. 'IF' we win today we're between 5th-7th so i wouldn't have much to complain about. If we don't win then maybe i do.

How we've got to the point where i only expect 6th pre season is another debate, very little to do with Solskjaer.

I don't agree that this is the worst squad we have had since Ferguson retired. People forget how bad the team was that Mourinho took over.

Rooney - Finished
Carrick - Finished
Schweinsteiger - Finished
Schneiderlin - Poor
Depay - Poor
Darmian - Awful
Blind - Average
Jones - Average (Injury Prone)
Shaw - Good when he played, but was getting continuous injuries before 2017/18.
Rojo - Poor
Smalling - Good
Mata - Decent (On the wane)
Young - Decent (Nearing end of career)
Valencia - Decent (Nearing end of career)
Herrera - Good
Rashford - Debut season (Promising youth)
Martial - Promising youth
De Gea - Top class

I don't think that team was any better than what we have now.

The attack is pretty much identical, except Martial and Rashford are better and more experienced than then. It is a much better attack.

Defence is better now with Bissaka and slightly improved by Maguire in place of Smalling.

De Gea is possibly not as good as then.

Midfield is slightly edged by the team Mourinho took over, but not by much. Blind was always poor in midfield; Schweinsteiger was a bit of a joke Carrick barely played, and Schneiderlin was poor. Only Herrera was good in that midfield, but he isn't as good as Pogba.

That was the squad that LVG ruined at a time when you could buy players like Mane for £30m and played some of the worst football i've ever seen. Mourinho came in and added Pogba, Ibrahimovic, Mkhitaryan and Bailly straight away to go into the season with.

We conceded 28 goals 17/18 compared to expected goals of 43. This season we're 15 compared to an expected 13. We were either very lucky or De Gea was brilliant, probably both. We found out at the start of 18/19.
We were actually a decent side though that season. I watched with my own eyes. We were beating teams pretty comfortably on the regular. This season I’ve seen absolutely none of that. I can’t even think of a game apart from maybe Norwich last few months we did that.

Ole should be judged on his next few games now. I’m sick of the old give him time moronic argument. He either does the job or he doesn’t. Picking youngsters is not enough. Any manager probably would have done that with our squad given the board and owners didn’t replace actually first team players.

He needs to do a lot more in the games that matter. He’s United manager and our club should have lofty standards. It’s not his fault the cards he’s been dealt but good managers can turn it into a semi winning hand of coached right, with our strong defence I truly believe that.

We are languishing in 9th and the amount of people saying we are going places and the future is bright is a joke. We’ve proved absolutely nothing this season. We need to win today period.

Your morale has nothing to do with it. The team seems determined and in decent spirits

Well you certainly wouldn't know it from the scared, drab football they've been producing all season.

We started well but i think you remember the second half of the season far better than it was because of where we finished rather than the performances, including the CL exit to Sevilla.

They've scored a good few goals since Martial came back. Not sure scared or drab is a fair description to be honest.

I know the end of the season was poor but it didn’t undo the level we got to for parts of that season. Sevilla was 180 mins of football we all wish to forget. Champions League knockouts like that happen and better teams than us have got burnt in similar ways. Sometimes you play pooorly it happens but it’s happening a ton more now against far weaker sides.

We won the Europa the year before and did well in the champions league group stage. Absolutely sailed through it I seem to remember like the other ‘big’ clubs so that was progress for me. Mourinho in Europe was decent with us even beat Juve away in his sacked season despite us been underdogs.

We also lost to Brighton, West Brom and Newcastle in the second half of that season. Beat City and Liverpool with 10 shots in two games, like i say results were better than performances you remember. We were clinical in front of goal with the few chances we created and De Gea like a wall at the other end.

For me we were better in 16/17 than 17/18 but league results didn't follow. Also i wasn't strongly Mourinho out, like now i didn't think results would get much better with the same players.

Yes we got beaten by Sevilla but has everyone forgotten Basel when SAF was the manager?

Cannot wait for the day hes sacked. Don't even look forward to watching us play.
Me too. Because he's a fraud. This youth exercise is absolutely pointless. What mentality is he supposed to be instilling into them?

The loser mentality?

People talk about him laying foundations for the next manager... what foundations? By the time he's finished, it's going to be a struggle to finish 6th, let alone get back in the CL.

The direction of suspending all expectations and letting your current standards fall into the abyss is beyond moronic.

I can't even have a go at him. The same reason I am not having a go at Pereira. They're not good enough. They shouldn't be in their positions.

Our board must be doing some social experiment of how far can we sink with fans still being content. I bet they are amazed by the results. No other explanation why this inept manager is still here.

This is even worse than last Sunday, and that first half was a nadir to end all nadirs.

Why are the board taking so long to move Solskjaer along? It’s infuriating. He’s practically a year into the role now and we have no discernible style of play. Beyond laughable.

We must stick with Ole no matter what they say.

We must stick with Ole for the Man United way.

We must stick with Ole for his United DNA.

We must stick with Ole til the clubs dying day.

Not just OGS its Woody & the Glazers.

He'll transform us into Cardiff 2014 by the time he leaves.

So what have Aston Villa now got that makes their manager's job easier than our sports teacher?

I think our fanbase and decision makers at the club are far too sentimental to make an appointment like this work. It's just not the right club for it.

When things go south (as they do with 99% of managers at one time or another) clubs like Madrid and Barcelona move on sharply. There was a chunk of our fan base ready to let Moyes, Mourinho and LVG sink the boat. The club actually did let all three of them sink the boat. Imagine that now with the added sentimentality.

This is what I posted on the 31st of December last year. So far, it's gone down pretty much word for word.

I think we should try something entirely new:
No gaffer but just replace the manager with a team of former united hard asses to serve as motivational speakers and let the players do their thing.

Bring in Keane, Stam and Cantona and act as drill sergeants.

Every time one of our players is slacking they ll go stand on the sideline with a paintball gun and snipe the hell out of that player then whatever player has the most paint on them at the end of the game gets a beating.

I was willing to stick out the season provided he played young players, there was some semblance of a playing style, and results were somewhat respectable.

I’m afraid 1/3 isn’t really good enough.

Utter shit again but hey Villa have better players than United, as do Sheff Utd, that is according to Ole fans.

IMO we look a worse coached team than a good majority of the sides we play. That, more than almost everything else at the moment, worries me. He’s here a year now. The gameplan doesn’t look any more refined that it did last season.

Attacking patterns?

Confidence?

Identity?

High intensity?

Coordinated team press?

What exactly is it Ole is instilling in this team again? "The United Way"? "Culture"? More intangible make-believe things that do nothing to arrest these awful fecking performances?
