In retrospect i understand that you keep the lead with 5 minutes to go.

I don't blame ole for doing that sub. Understandanle perfectly with what's at stake.

The problem is why are we playing so bad we were outplayed and conceded 2 goals

You aren’t making any sense. The players failed him not the subs failed him. You are using an example in 2 different situation. Let me give you a better example.

On 11th December 2017. City beat us 2-1 in Old Trafford. Otamendi scored the winning goal in 54th min, guess what Pep did 5 mins later?

Yes, he took Gabriel Jesus off to bring on Mangala. He took his striker off for a centre back in 59th min to keep the 2-1 lead, he had Agüero on the bench and didn’t even use him for the whole match. The players didn’t fail him on that day for making a “boring” subs like that. And Ole pretty much did the same thing yesterday.
Had we battered city for the previous 59 minutes. Nope. Terrible example

Trying to pin a goal on one sub with 5 mins to go is ridiculous. It was one lucky chance which shouldn't have made it that far and as usual we conceded a goal from it. It sees like we concede from any chance the opposition get when we're 1 up, a lot of it is just bad luck.

Solskjaer got it completely wrong from the start going to 3-5-2. That's where this game was lost (felt like a loss).

I can understand the frustration of others but yesterday with no midfielders to select from it was the best formation he could have gone with. Midfield options are too thin. We need 3 new CM to be competitive again. Hopefully when PP and McT are back things will be better
. People complaining after the fact. My only quibble with yesterday’s lineup was with McTominay out we had to have a spot for Jesse for added legs. Fans been moaning he hasn’t scored or assisted and it’s become some kind of fan obsession used to abuse him but he was never there for that reason. He presses really well which contributes a lot to a team like ours without a defensive midfielder.

I doubt United will buy a central midfielder and we shouldn’t... unless a very high quality one. I think the kids coming through will be ready in no time.

Not sure it will make sense sacking Ole now. What is the point of Poch or anybody else, if as Ole himself has been hinting, we are not spending in January. A new manager still would be working with woeful midfielders which to me is the engine room of the team. If we just meander along at the same rate, then fine Ole should go in the summer. I am beginning to hate this feeling of deja vu.

A manager coming in now makes alot of sense. The new man would have time to assess the squad and plan early for next season which would be a advantage.

Its kind of hard to fault the formation and tactics when Ole was planning for the game all along with Rojo as the left center back, a role he has played to considerable acclaim this season until he was injured late with a muscle problem. Then Tuanzebe was deemed not fit enough to play which left Calamity Jones as the only remaining option.

Same with the midfield, McTominay's absence meant Pereira and Fred were the default choices in a rotation that is already scraping the barrel.

Every manager we have had since SAF has been assessing this squad, yet their are still remnants of his last team here. It just seems one never-ending cycle of assessing. Yet the main culprit for making bad decisions is still here and will still be here to make even more.

This. There should be a director of football with a long term contract to have continuity in the decision making process that is not reliant on a manager.

The Only manager we've had post SAF who had ample time to assess the squad is Ole and we still managed to go into the current season even weaker than before. There's no question that the likes of Woodward have show an incredible level of naivety which has also contributed to our current malaise.

Dammit I said their instead of there which irritates me no end. Yes we should have a DOF but that would mean spending money on another employee.

Yeah, no new manager needs tme to assess Phil Jones, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira, Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young, Nemanja Matic. A MOTD pundit would know that none of those names are good enough anymore and need shipping out - assessment isn't necessary. You don't need to taste dogshit to know its dogshit - you don't need to spend a few minutes assessing one on the pavement to know what you are looking at.

Herrera's PSG contract was sealed before Ole even had a chance to take over properly. He apparently sought a replacement and never got one. The one good thing that cannot be disputed is that unlike past managers, Ole did not saddle the club with bigger liabilities.

Klopp answer Pep asses their squads not no director. All we need is for them to stop making incompetent managerial appointments and stop listening for SAF. This is two managers he’s provided us with now who are terrible.

Going by that argument, even Pep got it wrong this summer when he did not recruit an additional center back.

You mean stop listening to SAF and start listening to Mainoldo? :)

For the first hour or so the team that looked like scoring and thus winning was the team that was in the championship last season. That's an indictment on United's players and their manager.

Him taking out Martial and putting Tuanzebe was not the smartest move on many accounts. I know there are people who have said many managers would have made similar move as we were playing 4-2-4 or something like that. I don't think so it was the correct move and I grunted the moment he made that change knowing very well it will backfire big time.

By taking off Martial he gave SFU a signal that we are retreating and happy with the 3-2. We were completely dominating the proceeding and SFU were shell shocked and then Ole decides to make this change and give them a belief that the game is still to be drawn. I would have made that move at the 90th min mark to kill of time and not then. It was a stupid move.

Also, we as a team are not that good defensively. People like to blame Maguire but our midfield yesterday was non-existent and Maguire alone cannot make it strong. This is why our best form of defence was to attack yesterday.

City use a DoF, Tixi Bergstein, he asses the squad along with the senior football management team of which Guardiola is part of.

Herrera sealing a move to PSG doesn't absolve him of blame. It was his job to balance the squad and it was patently clear the midfield was in dire needs of new recruits after the departures of Herrera, Fellaini and the ommision of Matic. The £130m spent on Maguire and Wan Bissaka was poor planning for the season when the midfield was completely ignored. He along with the board were unbelievably naive and i'm not sure what the thinking was.

Yet apparently we are not prioritizing a midfielder in January but a striker. Ole says he is happy with the options he has got. January is going to be really stressful isn't it?:(

With all the problems at the club it's really hard to figure out if Ole is doing a good job at the moment.

No-one really knows if he's at fault for the lack of midfield options and no-one really knows how good or bad some of our players are because they blow hot and cold so much. So it's very difficult to asses if he is getting the most out of an average bunch of players, or if he is a poor coach making a group of players that have the ability to be very good worse.

As much as I hate to admit it because Ole is a club legend my gut tells me he probably isn't quite up to the job. I've seen some suggestions that the best solution might be to move him into a Sporting Director role and get Poch in. Wouldn't be against it, but I'm not 100% sure on Ole's credentials to do that job.

I know when we were 2nd that was the biggest margin ever between 1st and 2nd
The big dog comes... makes all the other dogs look small, but the following years one of the dogs adapts and gets bigger

Nothing surprises me anymore. Might aswell sign Mandzukic and knock it long at this rate and bypass the midfield.

I can't believe I'm agreeing that Rojo would have improved us but yes it would have been slightly better. It was just the wrong idea to over compensate for not having McTominay by playing 3 at the back. There was no link to the attack.

Injuries have derailed any chance we had this season.

I know but what do you think our transfer committee does?

Just guessing... the only difference is they recommend to Pep what areas will need address whilst Ole tells our team what areas require new players.

But that's part of a DOF job, most boards are made of finance and corporate people, that's why most clubs have DOFs.

Momentum had nothing to do with it when it was the last attack in the game. I find it worrying that some posters are so obsessed with the sub and not the leaky defence. It's not like they put us under siege for another half hour to go, it was just five minutes.
We hardly had a touch in their half again the second he made that change.

In the lead up to the change they hardly had a touch in ours.

It totally changed the outlook. We should have pushed for a 4th and ended the game.

If he has 1 gram of self respect left in him he would resign, but I am sure he has nothing left. He is stealing a living at the club.

We did push for a 4th and should have scored but Lingard ruined a brilliant counter-attack when we had 4 players against 2 defenders.

There must be a scandal in his appointment, he is not a football manager, at least not a coach, because he and tactics are two opposite things.
