Also the consensus seems to be that Martial being injured was why we were losing and playing so shit, according to some. That doesn't really explain how earlier on in the season and towards the end of last season, when Martial was playing, we still looked shite and were losing.

As I said earlier, we had those players towards the end of last season and at the beginning of this season, yet we were still looking absolutely clueless from an offensive standpoint. It's got less to do with us improving so much and more to do with how shite Norwich are defensively imo. Villa beat them 5-1 ffs.
Still a long way to go to have me convinced again. I've fallen for these false dawns far too often, especially when one is as easy to write off as this one is.
Our season reflects the non replacement of two midfield players and a striker.

The only league defeat he started under Solskjaer was the Everton one and Palace this season. We are clearly better with him in the team. Just better, not unbeatable.

He scored 4 in 6 this season after being moved to CF. Utd have only lost once when he played this season, and never when he scored. His availability to the team makes a huge difference.

Bang on the money, I have a ST and have not once heard any booing or abuse of Solksjaer, the match going fans have a far different view of the matter than the average armchair/keyboard supporter. Against Liverpool during a so-called make or break game for Ole, At least twice in the ground, the fans erupted with Ole chants. Yet according to the the caf and media (some act like they speak for all) just utter nonsense. We show loyalty to a legend who has earned that right whilst respecting the size of the rebuild job at hand.
Bang on mate. I'm a ST holder who goes home and away, and I'm fully behind Ole. I'm more than willing to see us fall if need be, but what people outside of our particular bubble don't get is that we need this difficult period before it gets better.
Have mistakes been made? Definitely. But equally, he's done so many positive things as well. Let the idiots complain, I couldn't care less. The people who matter, the ones who put their money where their mouths are like me and you, know that it will take time, no matter who is in charge.
Ah yes, the same match where Rashford missed a penalty and two ridiculous mistakes from Lindelof and De Gea cost United the match, but let's just blame Ole because he's the current scapegoat for this decent United team.

All things considered, this has been a fantastic week, and hopefully we build from this and go on a nice little run with the easier games we have coming up until the fixtures toughen up with Spurs and Everton in December.

I always find this myth that Ole was not backed amusing. Woody is not a complete idiot. If he sees continued improvement, I m sure we will once again outspends most of our rivals.
We probably did spend the most this summer, but we made a good amount back in fees for players that left, Lukaku being an obvious example.

I still have my doubts about Ole, it would be great if he can get us on another run like when he first came in however we had this with Moyes as well where when we thought he'd reached his lowest, he would then grind out a couple of wins before descending even lower and serving up more rubbish
The problem is the likes of Martial seem to be made of glass, we cant rely on him staying fit we need a backup to him in January at the very least and maybe a midfielder if we can get one. We also dont know what Pogba will do as if he leaves we potentially need 2 midfielders in January. Yes it's good he's playing the kids but they need a bit of structure to come into, for example Garner from people's comments on here did better today than when he started in midweek, maybe that's because he could quietly come on and slot into place with a team that was flowing better and less pressure on him than having the expectations that come with a start and having to get everything underway- it would be fine for him to do that in say City's team as there are multiple players around him to help support him and take the pressure off him a bit, but then look at Foden even he is being slowly introduced, I know they have more players than we do but they probably have a perfect side to bring him into yet they are taking baby steps with him. I'm glad he is giving the kids minutes as it's giving them valuable experience I just wish we had a couple more players so they could have a slightly easier introduction. Today's game was perfect for them and the time they were brought on was correct, however to keep that scenario for every game needs the first team fit and creating a lead so then they arent expected to come on and try to rescue us. If we have an established line up in an easy game then say Garner could start with McT and Pogba but then Pogba is inconsistent himself
He does need to dedicate some time at the end of every training session to work on penalties and free kicks. We have multiple goalkeepers as well so can mix things up. However are the players putting the extra effort in? I can remember Ronaldo saying how he would stay behind after training and practice his free kicks. I wonder if any of our players do that?

Imo we should've been top of the net spend given the state of the squad, going into the season with one senior centre forward was bonkers.
It's nice to see Greenwood get a go though, he's not done too badly so far.
Great result and a good performance, credit to Ole for it. But need to see more of such performances to be convinced. Norwich did not sit back and defend like most lower teams do and that favored us. Likes of Rashford had a lot of space to run in to. If it continues, say for next 10 or so games, then we can fully be Ole in. Today's result should not change people's opinion.
There is nothing in between in his place, nothing. One side is pushing back now and on first next feck up, other side will push back even harder.
Understood.. but it was Solskjaer decision not to buy a forward. Dybala was a difficult deal and the alternative was Mandzukic.. I fail to see what the plan was.. but it was probably someone weird and wonderful (speculating).
I won't comment on speculation, which is what it is when you say Solsjkaer said no to buying a forward.
All I will say is that we need one, I like Martial a lot, but his injury derailed us.
So the wins are thanks to Ole and losses are thanks to players?
I agree.. but that's not speculation. He's said so himself. Either way we still need a RW more than a forward. But i really can't see us buying in the winter window.
