We have a United legend as manager who is relatively young, understands the club and will learn as he goes. Losing to a far superior side tonight (as well as the recent leggy performances) won't stop me from being excited about what Ole might do here

:lol::lol:

"understands the club"
"will learn as he goes"

god

Not sure why he made no subs when we need goals and then brings Dalot on? Some of his subs are odd at times.

Is it too much to ask for a manager to not have favourites that play no matter what? Ole’s lost pretty much all goodwill from me as a manager with what he’s done since the PSG game.

I’m not writing him off yet, but he has a lot to prove. He had pretty much a free swing at this and could have played young players and get some excitement in the team. He’s picked Lingard and Young and those are two awful plays to put yourself on the line for.

His shameless indulgence of Rashford is also not right. It’s one thing to have faith in a young player, it’s something else to let them stroll around doing whatever the feck they want with no consequences.

Yeah Young's defensive nous is really doing wonders for us
In a game like today, I’d rather go with experience because at that level, mistakes are really punished. Either way, its swings and roundabouts. Its not as if Ole dropped a prime Cafu, he chose an experienced pro over a 19yr old kid in his first season who has still to learn a lot more about positioning and one on one defending.

Since he’s come in he’s take our squad who were struggling for top half and had them top of the league on form.

He got us past PSG.

Don’t know how the mods aren’t just banning idiots here.
Yes he did. And you still want him next season (be honest) ?

Sorry but what good is experience if the player in question has absolutely no ability to play football?

Yup. Thankfully Young didn't make a mistake that was punished.

If Guardiola hypothetically had this squad, I don’t think he’d fare much better. It’s the most clusterfeck high profile squad in Europe.

Exactly this.

At least give the guy a transfer window to begin shaping his own squad of players before you shove the knife in his back.

I'd give him time.

Pep and Klopp didn't beat Barcelona in their first season, and this was when they both started in summer so had a transfer window to sign their own players too.

I'd be looking for top 4 next season, and hope Pep and Klopp both leave within the next 3 years, and try and win the league within 3 years. While we improve season on season and keep getting top 4 and possibly an FA cup.

I think Ole wants to sign young players so this is a good strategy, both Liverpool and City have had a big head start in the transfer window while we pay guys like Ibra and Sanchez a big wage.

I am not going to clutch straws like many here and blame Ole for stupid mistakes made by our players but his love for rashford and lingard is worrying. Not blaming the team selection as we don't really have many options as most replacements are either worse or same shit and tactics, well when you play Barca and score a own goal then our own player gives messi a brilliant assist followed by De Gea screw up. No tactics will help.

Hopefully during the summer we'll buy some players with some footballing intelligence and get rid of morons who have been stinking up the place for years...........then again I hoped for the same thing with Jose, that didn't work out.

I know right, what are you still doing here is a mystery  Yeah, new manager bounce was good while it lasted, now the bubble burst and we, as some of us expected, returned to being shit and will probably end the season on Sunday, finishing at the exact same position like when he took over.

I still remember the heady days of people saying "people will never turn on a club legend"

Only in here can getting past PSG to then be knocked out by a superior Barcelona side be turned into a negative.

Ridiculous to start writing him off and claiming he isn't up to it.
This. He hasn't had a fair crack at the job yet. Give him the summer to shape this squad the way he wants it and let's see how we do then. He's shown plenty of promise for me but obviously got some things wrong which is expected of a manager taking over a team half way through the season. Just look at how many mistakes Klopp made after he took on Liverpool. Took him three years and a lot of money spent to get it right.

All things considered we had the right approach to the game. He didn’t trust Dalot and went with Young which backfired but tactically we came out attacking and pressing which I liked. I hope the talk about being ruthless this summer is true because otherwise we can’t expect anything different next season.

Barcelona has better players than United. Ole is not a miracle worker.

If he starts Young in any of the remaining big games It'll be a dreadful sign tbh. Flabbergasted that he started Young in this game after has has been so terrible. The available players are not up to him but team selection is.

If he’s really ruthless he can start by binning Lingard.

I never get the "understands the club" stuff. Is it simply because he played for us? How does that make him a better manager? It means nothing.

- Ferguson had nothing to do with Manutd before he was manager
- Guardiola had nothing to do with Man City or Bayern before he was manager.
- Mourinho had nothing to do with Chelsea, Porto, or Inter before he was manager.
- Ancelloti had nothing to do with Real Madrid, or Chelsea before he was manager.
- Simeone (Only played 36 games for Atletico) before managing Atletico (Does that count as him "getting the club"? surely not)

He seriously needs to get it right in the transfer window. People seem to be lenient on him because he is a legend, but that is the past. He is Manchester United manager and should be judged as such. That means he must meet the expectations required no matter who he is.

I think people are going to be in for a shock if they think there is going to be some big summer overhaul haha. Ole will have to work with 90% of these players next year. I am willing to give him a year because he’s already been hastily appointed by the board.

I think the main issue is how we spend our money, this is on Woodward and the only way to be free of Woodward is if the glazers feck off. So I guess this is what I’m hoping for

Have to say it again. Giving him a job after 15 games is incredibly short-sighted by the board.
Let's pray Ed Woodward at least has some self-respect and doesn't back out with his stupid decision now and give Ole all the money to spend in the summer.

I am glad that you have finally learnt to watch the game while concurrently posting

So Mou and every other manager should get a season to build it up, but Ole can't get 6 months with a squad he took over mid-season? Honestly, what the hell is going on at redcafe sometimes? He took over a team EVERYONE here said(and was spot-on) that we are a mid-table team at best with our current lineup. And now we are suddently suppose to require that Ole is going to get us not only to climb from 12pts behind top 4 and get in there, but also knockout Barcelona from the CL?

Can we at least give him this summer and see how he gets going next season?

Let’s hope there is a top 4 clause (including this season) because next will be one hell of a lot worse.

The small criticism from me would be Ole playing Lindelof as right back. Them positions belong to Young and Dalot.
