The simple fact is he is our manager because he was a good player for us and scored a historic goal, not because his managerial credentials were the best for the job. It is one of those appointments that 99% of time will not go the way fans want.

Are we about to be the next team thats too good to go down . The results since Paris have been consistently poor and will continue . Needs to go asap .

It might be (we don't know 100%) but what good will sacking him do now to expect another manager to salvage something from the same weak squad.

That team we had today isn't better than Newcastle's line up. They've spent £80m on 3 forwards since January, we've spent £18m on James and are relying on Mata and Pereira for goals.

Come on mate, same old excuses?

Dubravka
Yedlin
Schär
Lascelles
Clark
Willems
Almirón (Krafthat)
M Longstaff
S Longstaff
Saint-Maximin (Atsu)
Joelinton(Carroll)

should we somehow believe those are world beaters?

Only way I can see Ed sticking with Ole is because they share the same fate.

Or maybe that's more wishful thinking on my part.
I don't think so. Ed's faith is based on income. And only on income. He can change 3 managers per season if he wants, sell Pogba for 10mil and buy Milner for 100 mil euros; if after all that Glazers are happy with income( balance), Ed will stay

Ok, i give up now.

Lampard is pretty much the evidence that Ole shouldn't be here any longer. It took him no time at all to get Chelsea playing the way he wants and he did it with incredible limitations and losing their best player to boot. Ole has no excuse.

This, totally this.

A good manager can almost instantly put a mark on a team. It looked like Ole had done it that first few games, but it faded after that. We put it down to how lazy the players had been under Jose, or how weak the squad is.

Those excuses have either gone, or fall at Ole's door now.

He can't dare say we're weak in midfield or up front, as he's had the choice to improve it!

 I have heard it all now.

For what it’s worth, I would be very surprised if we haven’t inserted very favourable exit clauses into his contract for scenarios like this. I know there will be doubts over our boards competence to do something like that but he’s only here on a 3 year deal and he was desperate to sign the permanent deal so the terms should have been in our interest.

We spent 80m on a defender!

Would be interesting to if those who have voted to keep him would have voted differently if he has no previous links to the club. Eg say it was Pochettino who took over from Jose, with exactly the same run and subsequent results as Ole, would you change from keep to sack? So remove the club legend status from the equation.

They don't have to be world beaters. They won a tight game 1-0 against a similarly weak line up.

We're strong at centre back and Rashford is highly (over) rated, that's it.

Is it somehow a given now that McTominay and Fred (terrible) are better than the Longstaff brothers?
Almiron £20m, Saint Maximin £20m, Joelinton £40m, better than James, Mata and Pereira?
Do you rate Ashley Young really highly or Dalot who has barely played 20 games for us? What am i missing?

Take a step back and try judge it from a rival fans point of view. It's not excuses it's just reality.

Remember that old kids movie, 'Ol Yella'? Remember that heart-breaking scene where they have no choice but to put a bullet in the beloved family pet? That is where we find ourselves with Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, now. His tenure as manager needs to be shot in the head. Thank you for trying, Ole, the fans will always love you for it but you're not a PL calibre manager - not even close.

In the summer, I said Ole's gone by Christmas. Even I had no idea he'd be teetering on the precipice by the first week of October with United 2pts away from the relegation zone.

He'll be gone after Liverpool. Ed simply cannot spin to our sponsors and shareholders a scenario in which United are in the relegation zone. He'll pull the trigger.

This team is going one place under this manager - the relegation zone and possibly the Championship. We have no strong personalities or fighters in this squad who will man up and drag us out of the mire. They will do what they've done under Moyes, LVG and Jose - they will capitulate.

But having a shit squad doesnt mean you stick by and support a completely inept dinosaur of a manager in some bizarre protest against the board. He has got to go, he is not capable of managing at the top level.

And y'know what - Carrick, Phelan and McKenna have GOT to join him. We need a completely fresh start in coaching terms, this bunch are not coaching this team adequately. Let Mike and Kieran earn their chops in League 1 or 2. Phelan can go back to Australia and chill. Get them all out.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to report that Duncan Castles is being a massive weirdo again.

Yep, the twat really relishing getting stuck in.

Says we're looking at a 150m joint bid for the Longstaff bros

And that we fielded 5 of ours first choice lineup, so the high intensity programme is going well!

wishful thinking.

A man can dream.

The idea of dithering Ed negotiating next summers transfer deals irritates me to no end.

Lets start by saying first and most that we are going through some rough times. Everybody can see that. But we have to be real.

I am still not going all in for Solkjaer to be replaced. Yet. And this is why. Why I agree the results have been bad there is no understanding whatsoever on this forum where we stand playerwise. We all knew that the squad was thin and we knew that we could not compete with Liverpool/City. Now with our injuries we are very fragile and I also believe that luck has left us. Today, first half was very bad. In second half we were totally in control and should at least not have lost. Every game we have lost have, if you think, been harsh on us. Yes, I understand that our game has been far from perfect, but that is because of our lack of offence. And because of injuries upfront. Defensivly we are 3 best looking at GA. Problem is offense.

Before anyone calls me deluded (popular word to use against those with other opinion) think for a second. What would you have done last weeks looking at players we have? You can't say that difference would be huge in what players to use because we don't realy have a lot of those who are healhty.

It seems impossible to come back from this.
Yes we have a tonne of players out, but they haven't all been out for the run where we've scored more than 1 ONCE in 17 games!!! At United!

I'd take them both right now, look better than the useless lot we've currently got in midfield.

That Newcastle team is shite mate. They will bode well in the Championship.

If you are doing the valuations then add Maguire who is as expensive as half of their team.

The Longstaff brothers are 19 and 21 mate with handful of appearances.

They got tonked 5 nill last week against Leicester.

Did Rochdale also had as good team as ours?

I mean you have to face reality at some point mate.

You are right, and there's surely no one who thinks even Liverpool would be as effective without say their two fullbacks, Salah and Mane.

But the problem is the injuries are masking the problem. We didn't have injuries for all of the 17 games where we've only scored more than one goal ONCE in that time?

The squad has been left criminally weak. If we'd gone big at the front, rather than the back, would we be in as big a mess? Probably not to be honest.
Whose decision was it to go this way? Surely not the Glazers/Woodward, Ole would have had the major say.

We've dropped off since PSG in a horrific way, massively out of his depth is Ole

I find it worrying that despite it obviously not working, he sticks with the same formation. I would have expected a change of approach by now

For a start, get these injured players back and he should go back to 4-3-3 with Matic/McTominay/Pogba and a front three of Lingard/Rashford/Martial (or James).

This formation change has been an absolute disaster. Mata and Lingard are crap at number 10, Pereira is not a right winger and when he’s fit Pogba is not high up the pitch so no wonder we’re creating nothing.

Maybe I'm very harsh and I'm still angry about that game, but I think Ole is the worst manager in the league.

Like i said we're strong at centre back.

So do you believe that James, Mata and Pereira are better than Almiron, Saint Maximin, Joelinton? Why other than they are wearing a red shirt?

Get over the Rochale result. SAF lost to Southend with Rooney and Ronaldo.

Maybe I'm very harsh and I'm still angry about that game, but I think Ole is the worst manager in the league.
Not harsh. Very accurate in fact. There isn't a single worse manager than him.

Only Bruce was questionable and you see the result.

Maybe I'm very harsh and I'm still angry about that game, but I think Ole is the worst manager in the league.
I don't know about worst, and I love Ole as a man and former player like I'm sure most of you so it's hard to be say things - but the sheer fact alone that we seem to not have any strategic adjustments to our opponents game plan like we did see under LVG and Mou all the time - tells you everything you need to know imho.

The reality is that Pierera ,Fred, Mata and Lingard & Young wouldn't get a game in any PL team.

The worrying thing, and I sense that many fans may agree with this, is that we seem like we have little idea, resilience, conviction, commitment or inspiration to change things around.

Teams like Aston Villa play with more belief than us... why? Because they have better players? Newcastle's players were more effective, showed more desire than us, and Newcastle have NOT been great this season... why? We are behind Palace, West Ham... Wolves, Burnley... those teams aren't blessed with super squads of players. But they all have an identity to their play... all of them.

We seem lost, and I look and listen to OGS, and I think he feels lost too. It's too much for him.
