Ole has a long-term rebuild plan. One problem with this is that he doesn't have the credentials to withstand inevitable waves of criticisms if the team languishes in midtable come November. No big club writes off 2-3 seasons in order to become competitive again, not a club with such a huge fanbase and reputation. It's not the 80's when Fergie was given 5 years to turn it around. And Fergie was much more proven at this point than Ole, he did wonders with Aberdeen.
Second problem is that the deadwoods assassinating revolution was silly, given that the players weren't replaced. When you put enormous physical demands on the players by wanting from them to press high without having much of the ball, you need a big squad with players ready to step in and not with youngsters who are physically not ready to play 90 minutes, let alone to press several games in a row. You might do the rebuilding job more continuously.
