Actually, the longer it goes on the more I think sacking Moyes was not necessarily the best idea we’ve had. Probably appointing him was the big mistake but I wouldn’t be surprised if we were in a better position now if we’d stuck with him. Who knows. But I just don’t think sacking the manager is the shortest route to improvement.

Are you just turning 13 years old and have a hard time remembering the Moyes era. Absolute waffle

The thing is it isn’t just a lack of clarity or distinct vision on the pitch that has caught Solskjær out at this point. Despite the quality added, we have a seriously unbalanced squad. And I can’t help but think we have been shooting from the hip in the transfer market also which comes back to the manager as well as he has been calling those shots.

Now I want to preface this by saying I am very happy to have both Ronaldo and Sancho in the squad. This is not an attack on either of them individually at all…

But the long and short of it is you cannot rely on runners in midfield if you really want to be a top side. And yet we ended up adding two attackers to an already formidable attack this summer rather than bolstering the midfield. I don’t think there is any excuse for such a gross oversight.

And the problem of runners in midfield is only more pronounced with Ronaldo in the team. Playing with such a focal point requires serious control of the game to both create chances and limit defensive transitions. And we just are not capable of playing that way with McFred in midfield.

So in effect I am now looking at the situation and thinking Ole probably sealed his fate with the Ronaldo signing. And sooner rather than later possibly. He is a player who raises expectations immensely yet doesn’t fit the way we try to play at all.

So you have to ask yourself what the plan really is or was. On and off the pitch.

Maybe last year when he wasn't under as much pressure he just might have got away with it but can you imagine him giving rollickings to Ronaldo, Pogba or Varane ? Even with Cavani, Bruno, Maquire who have another year under their belts I could see telling him to go feck himself. Ole has absolutely no credit in the bank with these players and that will be his downfall.
Exactly correct.
Like ronaldo will listen to what solksjaer has to say about being a good centre forward. And rightly so.

At least some sense. Yes it is a lot more than just McFred. It is the full backs too. We push both of them too high up. None of them are good in crossing. Let them hand about a bit back instead of opening so much space and getting the CBs dragged wide.

Yep and I understand Ole wants to play this way and that he wanted Trippier badly but if you don't have the players to make your system work (if it works at all), then make adjustments. Every time AWB runs forward he looks insecure, doesn't know where to get the ball to, doesn't believe in his ability to cross so passes it back to 1. The winger he stands in the way of or 2. Two CDMs who don't have a clue either. At least Shaw doesn't shy away from giving some cheeky through-balls, a cross (doesn't even matter to me if they're bad, just get it in the box) or at least tries to get it to the best man possible but AWB contributes barely anything to our attack and it hurts us to the point where people (and biggest offender is Ole) don't believe we can make 1 CDM work while he's definitely a pretty great defender and could actually balance it out if they limit his attacking duties. Especially against TEAMS WE SHOULD BLOODY BEAT.

And ffs can he please put Sancho on the right hand side, you know, his natural position? Greenwood can literally play on both sides because he was gifted generational two footed abilities by the Gods themselves. Why pay 75mil for a player you're not going to use right...

:lol::lol::lol:....:(
Don't you start putting ideas into their heads. Although there is a certain ring to 'Butt-inners'.
Better yet, let's promote Nick Cox from the academy, so that when he inevitably fails we can all chant "Cox Out!"

He thrived on being the plucky underdog and he can't do that anymore with the personnel he now has in his dressing room. Ronaldo and Varane haven't paved the way to trophies for him, they've sealed his doom. They're serial winners who won't tolerate this amateur bullshit for long.

Our fixture list is brutal now

I expect us to be 7-10 points off the top at the end of this. Ole usually does well against big opposition so we might do better but at the end of November we could be effectively out of PL race.

It's bizarre how a manager like Conte is up for grabs but this club just insists on prolonging the suffering while all along his sacking is going to happen sooner or later. Not a single manager has been backed the way he has and coming off this window the only way to go was up.

We genuinely signed 3 world class players and he's been here long enough now to get some cosistency going so not being given enough time is no longer an excuse yet every single game we are witnessing this absolutely horrid horrid football when on paper our team for the first time since Sir Alex left is very strong.

Look at the fecking team he's got at his disposal and we are still losing to the likes of Villa, Young Boys, an inch of losing against Everton today and had Villareal had a proper striker we'd be down 3-0 after the first half. At this point anyone who is dead set on the coaching not being the major issue here is in deep denial.

The defence is a circus and the attack has so much quality to it yet we stink there too.

Conte would be a headache for the owners and board

Shouldn't laugh at that clip posted earlier but seeing Homewood (not a fan) looking awkward is priceless

Talking about Ronaldo "He is not a young puppy anymore." Stuff like that really makes me cringe. Ole talks about losing goals through counters but I am curious to know what he is doing to stop that.

"We know more that you, the journalists and experts". Ole going on the charm offensive again. I shouldn't listen to his pressers because I really don't like listening to him talking.

I am still behind Ole but the cracks are appearing. Looks like there is a lack of "PROGRESSION" this season. Hugely dissapointing result against Everton and what is he doing smiling at his players in the final minute?

Pull your finger out Ole, you little young puppy, and start getting some results please.

Don't want Conte but thinking about the list of managers we passed on to back Ole always almost gives me a stroke. There's no question the guys at the board level are even less qualified at their jobs.

They are and have always been the biggest problem.

Glazer back him? Yes in certain extent.

Ronaldo wasn't his buy, he prefer young forward like Sancho, Rashford and Greenwood to press harder, run back to defend endlessly each match.

Ronaldo won't do that apart from provide short term solution for Glazer to please the fanals, sell the shirt, give some goals to get some short term solution, which is not Ole ideals.

Managing Ronaldo give him more problems than solution now.

Listen I will always be grateful to him for steadying the ship after Jose and rebuilding this squad, however I just can't change my views unless he is willing to swallow his pride and admit I was wrong about McFred and I need better coaches too.

1.826 PPM overall. If those were all league games, that's equivalent to 69 points at the end of a 38 game season. You'd want to be 2+ PPM to start seeing some trophies.

I have always thought he will be the guy before “the guy”. I’m appreciative he steadied the ship and made us much less toxic after king cnut, but I think another manager could take us to the next level he can’t. I don’t know if I trust the club to pick the right new guy though, given we went from Moyes to LVG to Mourinho which is Crystal Palace 2017 levels of bad planning, and I do think we’re in a better place than we were in 2018, 2019, or 2020. The question is is that place “good enough” I suppose.

Nobody thinks we’re winning the league.

This guy does:

I predict that we'll win the league under Ole. I wonder if the owners can see that like the rest of us that think the same way as I do.

I mean, this level of delusion is ... difficult to understand, but fascinating nonetheless.

Who can look at a 38-game season, competing with the likes of Pep, Tuchel and Klopp, all of whom have squads on par with ours, with a winning history in leagues and champions leagues to boot, and conclude this? Solskjaer, a guy who hadn't won anything since 2013 (a Norwegian domestic cup) when we hired him?

I always wonder how and why people get so attached to managers. Very strange. With Solskjaer some fans act like the club owes him something. Like they've forgotten Manchester United comes first, before any player or manager.

I get people getting frustrated at the football, tactics, chances conceded and all.

I dont get people getting annoyed that he smiles, given thats how he is.

I understand it perfectly.

It's like being married to someone you're slowly beginning to hate. Their every little habit that you might have once found endearing begins to annoy you.

It's because that plucky underdog mentality allowed him to play counter attacking football and get away with it. We saw whenever we would have to take the lead of a game against a weaker opposition he had no idea how to set us up. Nothings changed in that regard apart from the players all individually being better

With backs to the wall and all these teams coming out with more attacking intent, ole will get done good results and we will take it from there.

But he absolutely has to repay the faith that the board have shown in him and be part of a title race right to the end.

'I am going to get us playing the Utd way. We will be fitter than.anyone and out work everyone. We believe in youth.'

Fast forward three years and nada. We rely on Ronaldo, Cavani, De Gea and sometimes Matic to bail us out. Mcfred stinking up the joint. Playing 6 at the back constantly at HOME. 130M wasted on DVB, Diallo and Sancho. The only. Manager who can buy a RW and then never play him in that position. The only manager who can take a World Cup winning midfielder in Pogba and play him constantly LW to accommodate Mcfred. Guy is not experienced or qualified to manage our club. When he is eventually shown the door clubs won't be queuing up to take him.

I mean... 2 out those 3 guys who came before him managed to win trophies in their 1st or 2nd season while Ole is in his 3rd season and we have absolutely no chance of winning anything. How is he better? Smiles is not everything...
League is a far better measure of performance than an odd FA Cup or League Cup win. They failed to re-establish us as a top 4 club with each of them taking us into top 4 just once while we have got there in both his full seasons and nearly made it in his first from a dreadful position Mourinho had left us in at the time.

While I would like him replaced, people who are revising history to make Moyes/LVG/Mourinho look better appointments are just silly.

I just think about all the talent in the squad we have now that is going down the drain the longer Ole stays here and it just makes me sick. Imagine having Ronaldo, Pogba, Varane, Bruno, Cavani and De Gea but our conversations every week revolve around losing to Young Boys/West Ham and whether we can make Top 4 in the PL. I hope Ronaldo's arrival exposes Ole's incompetence because we have some winners in the dressing room now who know exactly what it feels like to win with managers who are winners. Their presence is going to remind some of our players that they can do better than 'sit back and hope to counter against Villa'. If the board won't get rid, then the players need to make sure they get themselves a manager worthy of their talent.

Bizarre take given there are so many things to criticise.
Again, if he was not smiling, would you be happier?

It is on the same spectrum as other major criticisms. With Ole, it's a full package. As a player, he was clinical and ruthless. As a manager, he is the very opposite. We see that on the pitch in conservative football and lack of proactivness.

Off the pitch, it is his demeanour. He wants to be mates with the players; he is not really able to inspire them or strike fear in them or make them the borderline cheats that every successful team needs to be. That is why this team always falls at the final hurdle. That is why neither Fred nor AWB went straight through that Everton player yesterday. There is no winning mentality.

How a manager projects himself on the touchline and in interviews makes a lot of difference. Remember when there was such a cheer at OT that one time LvG actually stood on the touchline? Attitude is a major part of competitive sport. That is why a team can be less or more than the sum of its parts. Everton are more than a sum; United are far less than its sum.

How can United fans not understand this when we had Fergie, the master of mind games, as our manager?

We're still ok on points for now, let's see what happens over the next month. We've had horrible runs of form before under Ole and managed to turn it around.

Talk of sacking him now is premature, the season has barely started

I hope Ronaldo's arrival exposes Ole's incompetence

We'll see. Some have already started blaming Ronaldo about how he has undermined Ole's authority. Anything to shift the blame away from the grinning legend.

Yes but success is a better of... success than league finishes. And he isn't revising history. That those mangers actually won stuff is factual.
