Only at a club like utd can a whole season be written off 5 games into it! That's precisely what the 'give him till the end of season' merchants would like to do. I mean what exactly do they expect him to accomplished? Sick of the 'top 4 is an achievement talk' when all it does is show up how terribly incompetent we are at the highest level.

He hasn’t played like a big fanny though, that’s utterly ridiculous. Even looking past him though, we had Pogba and Matic sat watching the same two midfielders that we played when we lost to Villa just a week ago.

He has. He’s a fanny. McTominay and Fred are shite, but Matic and Pogba aren’t the answer either. All of them bring destructive issues to the midfield area and it impacts upon our performances every week.

Matic is the only player we have who knows where to even stand in central midfield and his legs have gone. We’re in a real mess and it was obvious in the summer.

With that said, results and performances should still be better than this.

Chelsea’s board is about winning trophies. Our board is about making money.

Its not even about making money.
Chelsea are Russian owned, pure and simple.
Easy to see through BS.
United are like this modern Anglo corporation that wants to be nice polite politically correct, kind, gentle, that whole office culture and Ole is perfect for that. Being that Woodward etc they all come from that environment its a bit of a bubble for them and they find Ole nice and pleasant. He is a perfect company yes man.

They likely would rather not deal with the likes of Mourinho or Conte cuz top coaches especially ones that dont to that culture, they can be a handful. Modern corporations cant deal with bigger characters and personalities.

So, wonder what his excuse will be today

"lads gave it all, this is football sometimes"?

"the schedule caused this"?

The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

Just listening to his post match interview and he sounds so uninspiring when talking about football. He struggles to convey his thoughts on us tactically so its no surprise we look tactically clueless. When it comes to spouting 'The United way' blurb he can talk for hours but hasn't a clue when talking about actual football on tbe pitch.

When the team looks to the manager for leadership and you see him smiling and laughing like he’s their mate then no wonder we look so lost on the pitch.

would OGS get to be manager of any other club in the top half of the league? No. Why is he United manager apart from the fact he’s an ex player? Clearly he’s done a good job building a good squad at a time when there was little expectation of him but now we have a good squad he is being shown up to be a championship manager at best. The time to get rid is now whilst we are still in touch with Liverpool and city, whilst we still have a chance of progressing in the CL. Don’t wait until we are out of the title race and CL because that’ll be another season wasted!!.

who should we get in? I hear other posters say potter but he’s just the next Eddie Howe who’s bubble will burst soon. Ten Haag/zidane may not be the perfect answer but they’ll be loads better at setting the team up tactically than OGS.

time for a change? YES

Will post this from an email I got from Stretford End Phil.

"The Glazers thing is only part of the problem that dates back to the Edwards family. We fans were always on the outside, didn’t matter whether it was the good old days or the bad 70s. German clubs are owned by the fans and that’s because they are regarded as part of the local culture. Ever since Maggie had her moment about English fans it’s been an uphill struggle. The clubs loved it because it made them money. Let’s face it, we hated the Prem, we lost the Stretty and we only got a championship when Eric arrived 5 years after Fergie started. All of these things were warning signs and we all misread them.

The Glazers are the future of the Prem - finance and corruption. It was not really that much different when Matt paid £100, 000 for Willie Morgan and £200,000 for IS Moore. Back in Matt’s day people did their dirty deeds behind closed doors. The Glazers don’t care and nor do anyone else. The fact the Scousers got caught by it shows the limits of working class culture in the game - it’s all bollox."

I'm Out.

I love Ole but I love ManUnited more. That's about it. I want him out. At the very least at the end of season. The faster the better. Will still respect what he's done to the club both as player and manager. There's no shame in bringing a sinking ship up, it's a massive task and he's done well in that regard. But we need a new captain to reach our destination.

VBD has played much better than Free and McT so far this season, whenever he has been given the opportunity. What game have you been watching if after seeing Fred shitting himself while hitting simple passes, you think VDB has been worse than him or "Mr. Invisible" McT.

Where did I say that Van de Beek has been worse?

I said two things:
a) He’s a fanny. Correct.
b) Getting all wound up about him not playing is an odd narrative to pursue. Correct.

I don’t any of them are good enough to start regularly for a proper United team, but here we are.

For all that away record, he can barely win a game at home.

He complained it was the lack of fans last season.
What's his excuse now?
Too many fans?

Out of his depth.

That's not a good chance for any player on the planet. Simple as that. There's a reason it won't contribute much towards to xG because goals like that aren't scored often.

We created the odd chance but no more than Everton. A draw was a fair result IMO.

You've subjectively disagreed with one instance, without even addressing chances like the Cavani header in the first half. I'd have to disagree with you on chances created this game, I think we had enough to win, at least by a narrow margin.

We probably agree on the fact that Ole has visibly taken us as far as he can, however. I think we risk throwing away the most talented squad since SAF without a single trophy, even though we built that side under Ole's watch. It's time for a change, maybe bring Zidane in.

It's almost as if the excellent job he's don'e in building a sqaud capable of challenging for the title - which is exactly what he has done - has worked against him. His squad have outgrown his ability to lead them.

Ole is never going to be enough, that's about as clear as it has ever been for me.

Sack him now.

I agree at the moment.

If I was him I would do a rare thing that would earn him endless credit. I would resign and say "I have built a squad that can win the league and challenge for the Champions League, maybe they need 1 more midfielder. I love the club so much that I want them to have the best chance to succeed so I want new ideas and planning so I will step aside".

Weirdly no one will do that because of ego (he has plenty of money) but yet that would win him almost unanimous praise and respect. Also might put him in better stead for jobs in the future as owners see he puts the club first. Won't happen but I don't know why.

I don't see how this improves. This is the best squad we've had since 2013, and it's being held back. There's no plan other than to bang it into the box. This set of players should be a joy to watch, but there is no joy. This is 13/14 Moyesball, just get to the byline and hope something happens.

I wanted Ole to be the guy to make us win again, but it's not going to happen.

The knives are sharpening and soon he'll find one in the front and the back.

He's the man before the man, as he's steadied the ship, stopped the rot and built a decent squad.

The next progression will be without him as he isn't as good a manager as our rivals have. In the key games they've shown up and he hasn't. That's the be all and end all of it.

His supports always seem to want another signing for him I’m noticing. If we get him a centre mid he’ll need a right back, then I’m sure he’ll need another forward. It’ll go on forever.

I'm Ole in still, but what I don't like with him is that he's smiling no matter what. It's 1-1 in the 94th? min and he laughs.
Do you think we have a chance for the epl or Ucl with him in charge?
Why do you think he is still the right manager for us?
I couldn't give a feck about his smiling, it's about the product he is churning out every game.

I don't agree with point 1 at all. With our manager, we need the best 11 in the world to compete for the PL. Anything less and we will always come up short.

Sadly I don’t see us improving much.

He’s taken us as far as he can.

We need a change in formation and midfielders that can actually shield the defence. We need to move the ball more quickly, more consistently.

I believe another manager would be able to affect this, even with the current players, to coach them better positionally.

No. Van de Beek has played like a big fanny. Of all the stick that could possibly be directed at the manager, the Van de Beek agenda isn’t the one I’d be looking to pursue.
I'd have agreed until after the West Ham game.

I never wanted Donny and wanted him sold but, apart from Matic, he's put in the best central midfield performance over 90mins we've seen in that cup game against Spongebob FC and he hasn't had a sniff since despite Fred and McTominay being as useful Donald Duck on a tannoy.

His supports always seem to want another signing for him I’m noticing. If we get him a centre mid he’ll need a right back, then I’m sure he’ll need another forward. It’ll go on forever.

Agreed - no squad is perfect, but good managers are supposed to find a way.

This squad with any of our rivals manager does significantly better.

He's now a problem.

Don't get your hopes up because we're run by feckin idiots who will wait to sack him until it becomes mathematically impossible to qualify for CL.

The same idiots gave him a new contract 2,5 months ago after failing in CL & Europa League last season. Absolutely the same mistake as we did with Mourinho.

The club are bogged down in romanticism (that's why both Ole & Ronaldo are here right now) and never learn from their mistakes.

Still unbeaten away though!

We dominated possession. They had one chance on the counter. Rafa is a good coach. Everton are a big club.

Wouldn't surprise me if he said that.

Ole should be really careful with what he does now when pretty much everyone sees that its not working. If he resigns now he'll leave with some dignity building a team thats far better than the one he adopted. If he continues, especially with the approach he keeps taking it could become a very bad end of his career as a manager at United.

I think he deep down knows that his level is at Molde, but doesn't want to give up managing Man United infront of a packed Old Trafford week in and week out.

I'm fine with playing dire football as long as we can win trophies, but we're not going to.

So what's the point of keeping him when we play horribly while winning nothing?

7 points dropped to Soton, Villa and Everton. Not a cat in hells chance of a title challenge this season, again.

His supports always seem to want another signing for him I’m noticing. If we get him a centre mid he’ll need a right back, then I’m sure he’ll need another forward. It’ll go on forever.
Sign of a top manager is he can work with what he's got and stil grinds out results. With better squad, better results.

I've always thought hiring Ole (or any former player for that matter) would turn out to be a disaster. Not necessarily because he'll be an awful manager, but because he'll never reach the heights or expectations that a Manchester United manager should reach. As we're starting to see, this will create a very divided and aggressive fan base.

As somebody who has loved the club for over 20 years I completely understand the romanticism behind desperately wanting Ole to succeed. Winning any trophy is a fantastic feeling as we all know, however winning a trophy with a manager who has achieved great things as a player, and who was a part of our greatest ever season, would be extra special. We all want it to happen.

With that said there must come a point where we allow our dreams and, in some cases, delusions, to subside and let reality take over. Unfortunately the reality, for me at least, is that Ole isn't of the standard we should be demanding of a United manager. After a summer where we have added 3 very high quality players, this has become especially more evident to me.

We struggle at the basics, consistently. We rely very much on moments of luck and individual ability to scrape wins. I believe we were very lucky to win against Villareal, and we were inches away from losing today. But beyond that, the performances are consistently below that of what you'd see from an elite team. It's there for all to see, and I'm not going to try to defend the indefensible.

Ultimately we have a group of very expensive and (mostly) very talented players, and a mediocre manager and coaching staff. That leads to a mediocre team. It's sad, because we're going to waste the best collection of players we've had in over a decade.

Fans are quite happy to shout about replacing players who aren't good enough, and we're all more than happy when we get rid of players and buy new ones in the transfer window, yet it appears to be taboo to have the same attitude towards our managers, as if they have a God given right to be in such a privileged position umtil they've spent obscene amounts of money. Personally I think it's perfectly acceptable to demand more, and at this point we should be.

So he hasn’t played like a fanny and absolved himself of all responsibility to create and score goals? News to me.

Why else has he been picking his arse on the bench? Any time he’s started we’ve ended up bringing on Bruno to save our arse.

It’s such an odd hill to die on. At least the likes of Kagawa and Mkhitaryan, who elicited the same sort of debate, actually had genuinely good games for the club. Van de Beek has done absolutely nothing, so what do you expect?

I agree with you completely, but in fairness, why would the board sack him now when they are under zero pressure to do so? I mean the fans were singing Ole's name today ffs.

He talks the talk, but good lord it's been clear for at least a year now that he doesn't have it in him to push the team towards a title. Why do we have to wait until we mathematically can't win anything before making a change?
