We've lost many away games in the past.

Gothenborg, Lille, Fenerbache, fecking Olympiacos! Basel! etc. That was during Fergie's time.

Results like these do happen, and because this is Ole, the agenda is there.

What rebuild? The rebuild is complete. We have one of the best squads in the world. The reason we won’t win anything is because our coach is nowhere near the level of the squad he has. But redcafe isn’t ready for that conversation.
Surely no one, even the most ardent Ole inners, are considering us still 'rebuilding'?

I’m starting to think some in here would be happy to never win a trophy again.

We are Manchester United FC. Not Ole Gunnar Solskjær FC.

Chelsea fans love Lampard, but he clearly wasn’t the guy. They got a proper manager in & won the CL within a few months. If we want to get back on top there is no shame in admitting we need a proper manager. There’s no excuses for him now, he has an elite squad at his disposal.

Lampard got sacked because he spent 200 million and somehow was in 9th place in December. Roman isn't the most patient guy. Also, lets see how Tuchel does this year before we elevate him to the next great thing. Di Matteo also won the CL and he did not turn out too great

And i can guarantee you no one here is Ole Gunnar Solskjær FC. If we somehow do worse this year than last year i'd wager 99,99% would want him replaced.

What i take issue with is this ridiculous hysteria about the manager in a match where we get a man sent of in first half and give away a free goal in overtime. Those kind of feck ups cant be put on the manager

This isn't a rebuild any more. I still reckon we'll be challenging for the league this season and I'd say we're still big favourites to qualify from the group.

Are you comparing Ole to Sir Alex? behave!

I don’t think he is a bad manager but we are expecting to challenge City, Liverpool and Chelsea and yes our CM isn’t the best but I overall don’t think Chelsea and Liverpool have stronger squads but I do see better coaches

Can you find one where one of them teams had 20 shots and we had 2 with the last in the 24th min.
The result wasn’t the problem the performance is the big problem

They will shy away from calling us the finished article (or as close to the finished article as it is reasonable to be for a football club that isn't funded by a nation state), because that means immediate results are required and judgements can reasonably be made regarding the manager's fitness (or lack thereof) for the job.

A perpetual state of rebuild allows the Solskjaer fanclub to keep kicking the can down the road ("next year will be Ole's year!")

Why shots matter.

We lost 3 - 0 to Gotthenborg, does number of shots matter.

3-0 Fenerbache, does number of shots matter?

Why does it matter now?

With this squad we should be challenging for the title and Champions League. With this manager after Christmas it will be Europa League and scrambling for 4th place. If you can't see how bad Ole's decisions were in this match then take off them rose tinted spectacles. They were a shambles and there's only one person to blame.

Ole had us about 8th in the table in December 2019 after spending £150m. People forget how bad we were doing pre Bruno.

It could have been avoided had Lingard just not played an idiotic pass. Why is the only option that Lingard had to play shit in this scenario? He wasn't playing a "deep" role. He had 3 CBs and two tucked in full backs behind him, he decided to pass right through them.
You're missing the point, taking Fred off for the last 5 minutes and having Pogba, who was just as fecked as Fred, and Lingard taking turns to drop back to fill in Fred's space is tactically inept and unnecessary.

The overall difference is already visible after just a few games if you compare Tuchel and Ole. Or am i overreacting?

11 points in 10 games vs top 6 sides last season. Worse than Arsenal. Why chat shit?
Last season was a bit of a clusterfeck, us having probably the worst fixture pile up in Europe. Even then, it's not like we lost many. How about the season before, how many points did we manage in a more normal season.

That's 11 v 11.

Zenit looked threatening with their counters as well.

But it's okay because it's Tuchel.
Well, he is only there 8 months and he only bought 2 players so far. So he has free pass till...2024?

There's some ridiculous takes in this thread, but to assume Ole had absolutely no responsibility for our loss today is absurd.

They also had a night where all their players were going at 100% because they were playing against one of the biggest teams in the world at home. They smelled blood after the red card and went for it and in the end, got a deserved win, even if it was a massive fcuk up that gave them the winner.

Ole got nearly every decision wrong, but this thing that he relies on individualism is nonsense.
It's not nonsense that he relies on individualism.
That is why our team look disjointed against any team that are well coached and can handle the ball.
It's thesame reason why our performance in most games can be dog shit but we end up with a win because we are very clinical due to our superior firepower.
Its thesame reason we find it difficult to break low blocks and our performances are very unpredictable.

He is not good enough, doesnt matter what lie anybody keeps telling themselves, sooner or later he will always come short when it matters.

The shots and the overall level of dominance they had over us does matter. Losing games like this happens the odd time but you can’t sit there and say that performance and in game tactics wasn’t worrying ?

Midfield. What about the midfield.

Need to buy a world class DM. Then replace AWB with an attacking RB. Then Pogba with a world class 8. Then DDG with a ball-playing goalkeeper. Then Rashford with a best-in-the-world LW who can dribble playmake and score. Then Maguire with a VVD-level CB. Then Bruno with an AM who can keep possession. Then Sancho with a world class RW who didn’t only do well in the Bundesliga. Then Haaland to replace Ronaldo.

Only then can we judge!

Longer than that. 2024 is when you can start to expect Tuchel to put together a title challenge. He won't need to win any trophies (aside from the Champions League that he won in his first six months with the club) until 2025 or 2026.

Yes

But so far we have faced no top side and our performances are still with many ????????.

Leeds = Very good performance
Southampton (Relegation side in my opinion) = Poor result and poor performance
Wolverhampton = We were very lucky because we should have been 3-0 or 4-0 down at half-time
Newcastle = Awful first half.....good second half.
Young Boys = No words.
All those poor performances yet we're sitting top of arguably the most competitive league in world football.

To the people saying we will keep Ole so long as he gets top 4, do you think Ronaldo is going to accept that for the next 3 years?

He’s been there about 6 months & already has a CL. Ole has been here 3 years & has nothing despite spending several hundreds of millions.

You can be like Chelsea chopping and changing managers.

Or you can be like Liverpool with moneyball model.

I like the money ball model. He came close, doesn't mean he will never win it.

What makes you think that? Blind faith in Ole? 5 games in, and we’ve managed three good halves against four bottom 10 teams and a Swiss team.

I’m seriously interested. What makes you believe that we’ll be title contenders?

His blunder today was as bad as Jesse's.

He has now lost 7 out of 11 CL games.

The ‘go out there and enjoy yourself’ tactic works great in the PL but not when the stakes are high in competitions.

More and more excuses, it doesnt end.
The guy is out of his depth, it doesnt matter if you decide to not see it, but the evidence is right there.
