honestly mate, are you actually high or something?
You don’t have to be up his arse even when he gets it wrong. Even Ole is critical of himself, you’re allowed to be too.
Do you genuinely think he’ll come away from that game and think he’s not analysed his and his coaches performance?

Don’t worry it doesn’t make you a shit fan to call it. It also doesn’t mean a 360 change on your Ole stance, its okay. Just call a fecking a spade a spade.

It's s simple question - what subs should he hsve made and when?

A lot of people are saying subs should have been made... but nobody says any details

Our squad doesn't have the depth to change much mid
We played villareal my guy not real Madrid. You don't need prime Ronaldo on the bench to beat these. Just a proper plan b.

Real Madrid only scraped past Vilareal on Sunday, after they subbed their best players off to rest them.

As one guardian journo said "it's crazy people wrote them off as dozy straw-sucking spanish yokels'.

I'll be genuinely amazed if he is still your manager next season.
Why? It’s not like our owners have demonstrated any sort of aversion to pedestrian CL qualification and decent but not winning cup runs. If they hired, say, Conte or Zidane or another name they’d be in the Glazers’ ears every day looking for expensive players. Ole doesn’t have that currency built up so he gets what he gets and gives good press.

Where has this utter myth that we don’t spend big on players come from?

It's progress on last season in terms of results so I think he will get more time. But in my mind he has eliminated any slack in the noose with that shambolic display.

You can also be sure that none of Harry Kane, Sancho, Grealish or any top class players will be joining us too. Next season will be depressing.
If I were a player I will seriously be hesitated to join a manager who is at his the best mediocre. Players want to play for Pep or Klopp because they know they will be even better players when training under world class managers/coaches.

I meant City with the ball. We didn't trouble them at all. That was their gameplay and they were comfortable with it and we didn't look like disrupting it all.

We had the ball but done nothing with it,.exactly what they thought, what they wanted.

We didn't bring on any subs to change it up, mata or dvb might have dragged someone out of position with a clever bit of movement for example.

In the end, we settled for pens as well by not trying to change the game.

I don't really understand the comparison to City really, I can't see any similarities in the match.

I'm not saying we were great or anything, and I think Ole should have gambled a bit more with subs to keep the pressure on during extra time. I also think he should have been ruthless and swapped DDG for Hendo for the shootout.

However, Villareal's entire gameplan was smash and grab, they didn't deserve it any more than Stoke or Burnley do when they anti-football their way to a win. It got them the trophy, so good for them, but it's not like we were beaten by "tactical genius", we just couldn't break down a parked bus (which we've struggled with all season).

We are fairly settled under him now. Expect more of the same next season and a trophy with a bit more luck.

It's not about luck, Ole just let the game pass him by. We should've won the game in normal time if Ole was more tactical aware. Let's say we spend money and go buy players, will you trust Ole to win you the CL or even the PL? he is the man before the man tbh. Hope he does proves me wrong.

Why waste another year?

I’d give him another season because as disappointing as it was to lose the final we’ve still made progress this year. I think he deserves to be backed with one more transfer window to get the players he wants and then have another crack at it. If he fails to deliver after that then it’s time to part ways definitely.

I lost a lot of faith in Ole last night.
Desperately poor game management, that MEN article that was posted earlier was spot on. He didn't have the stones to make the right decisions. I don't see how he can carry on after that...

There is no way Ole is getting sacked sadly. He is perfect for the Glazers. Doesn’t expect to win trophies or challenge for the title and won’t kick up a stink when United don’t sign the players needed to challenge properly. In fact, a large section of our fanbase will refuse to criticise him, no matter what. He is the ideal manager for them.

Who was he shouting at before half time? Along the lines of "Feckin ****, Feckin ***"..was it Rashford?

Cavani I think. For not challenging a hilariously bad cross from Bruno. Might be wrong though. Cavani was furious

We have a right back who can’t go past the half way line
We have a CB who is so weak and slow
Our CM players need 3 touches before they can pass
Our 2 most creative players lose the ball too much
Our 2 wingers are too inconsistent
And our main striker is 35

Until these things are resolved, no matter who our manager is, it won’t make any difference at all.

I barely know a single player for Villareal and yet you could tell they were drilled and had a plan.

We don't need 11 world class players to put in a performance and have a plan, as our opposition showed.

Did you miss his quotes last week?
He was very vocal about needing to add real quality to this group of players, so that we can properly challenge.

Plenty criticise him, but the solution isn't always sacking the manager.
While I feel we are progressing as a team, as in gaining more points in the league than the year before, I want to keep him.
If we see a decrease in points and no progress in our general play next season, I would be on board looking for a new manager.

Rashford should have been hooked at half time and bring either Mata or VDB on, probably VDB and move Pogba up on the left.
Greenwood did seem to be running out of steam, I'd have thrown Diallo on after 75 mins, we looked very leggy in extra time.
Villareal weren't threatening at all in the 2nd half, so we should have taken more risks.

Exactly. He has the Glazers putting on the handbrake

He's not lost to PSG, Barca, Real etc.. It's Villareal. Let's not go on about "quality", we didn't lose because of that. Unless you want to tell me with a straight face that Villareal have better players.

It’s all very well talking the talk but you have to be able to back it up. There is nothing to suggest he can at this stage. Conte walked from inter because they wouldn’t back him to take the club to the next level. Ole would never do something so bold.

Yes we bottled it against City and Chelsea. Any time a team loses they bottled it. Good post, would read again.
Yes if you lose 4 semi finals and a final that's bottling it. That is why spurs are seen as bottlers because every major game they have had over the last few years they have lost even though it was against hard opponents. Also Chelsea? Come on only man City are a legitimate great team everyone else is atleast on par with us. So yes bottled

Where has this utter myth that we don’t spend big on players come from?

The truth is that United have spent the most money of any club in Europe over the last 5 years (the last 10 transfer windows) other than City.

Well then why do we even have a manager? Sack Ole, save £10m/year or whatever he is on, let the players manage themselves. Out of all the football supporters in the world we should understand and appreciate what a really good manager can do like nobody else but instead we got people saying that manager's position basically means feck all.

We need better players and better coaches for Ole.

How about we get a better manager for the club?

This is the only fanbase who would deflect the blame of our poor performances towards the coaches. Who even gives a shit about the coaches at any other top club?

Its laughable, isnt it?

But then again the man clearly thinks our squad players aren’t as good as our starting 11.
That's usually the case for the vast majority of football teams though. That's why they are squad players and not in the starting XI. I'm sure Villarreal's squad players aren't as good as their starting XI but they still made five subs and consequently looked fresher and were the better team in extra time.

They have Foyth, Capoue and Albiol in the starting 11

We say the same shit every year.
